“Together is a Wonderful Place to Be.”

10 Aug

Hi Folks,

We’re trying our hardest to try & make life more normal here in our house. Now that we can see family members… we’re making plans & trying to plan days out for the kids, since we’ve had to cancel our Summer getaway. Things like seaside days out, strawberry picking, picnics etc…

Planning is always so much more fun when you have pretty pens & a Personal Planner or Family Wall Planner. Every year I have a Family Wall Planner made for us from Personal Planner. I love them soooooo much! They really are the best planners around.

With each Personal Planner or Wall Chart – you will get a sheet of stickers. Great for high lighting special arrangements. Another great feature is that you can upload all of your important dates, birthdays & anniversary’s. So each year you don’t have to go through writing in all of the dates… with one click everything uploads. It’s utterly perfect – I hate the task of the laborious date writing. So this handy little feature scraps all of that.

The family wall planner has enough room for each individual family member. They get their own colour coordinated section & photograph. Perfect for logging school dates, play dates & trips to the vet… of course our Chihuahua Coco has her own section on the family wall planner.

The most exciting & fun aspect of these lovely planners is that you literally design it all yourself. So it’s a perfect fit for you & your life. Whether you want it to aid with your studies, or if you need it to help with organising your office at home whilst working from home or like me… you want to plan fun family days out… Personal Planner has you covered. And what’s more… shipping is entirely FREE!!!

So… I have some super exciting news!!!! I’ve teamed up with Personal Planner for a phenomenal GIVEAWAY!!! All you have to do is head on over to my Instagram page & FOLLOW ME, LIKE & SHARE. Just look for the Personal Planner giveaway post.

Chilly Days Out

16 Dec

Hi folks,

It might be feeling very chilly & wintry outside… but that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the great outdoors. Being a ‘boy mama’ means I spend a lot of time outside foraging under rocks for creepy crawlies & hunting through woods for Gruffalo’s & Bears.

We spend lots of time walking & exploring on a weekend. Even in the colder months, you’ll find us having a picnic all wrapped up.

We were sent some lovely ION8 Leakproof Water Bottles. Perfect for those days out!

The bottles we have are 350ml. Perfect size for children, but also it means you’re not logging around giant water bottles. These lovely bottles are 100% leak proof. They’d be ideal for packed lunches!

We have the lovely Lady Bug design & the orange.

Both bottles have a frosted kind of texture, making it perfect for grip while on the go. There’s also a great one touch button for opening & there’s also a little switch you can flick that will completely lock the bottle. So you can pop it in your bag with no fear of leaks! Perfect! No one wants a soggy handbag.

Both boys have found them easy to drink from. There’s even a little carry strap too!

The bottles are suitable for both cold & warm drinks.

You can find ION8 Leakproof on social media too!

Making Memories

20 May

Hi folks,

I love the month of May. Spring is everywhere & everything looks so beautiful… the weather is on the turn to sunnier times & it’s also mine & the hubsters Birthday month.

We always try to do something nice for our birthdays as they’re only 4 days apart. But when you have little ones in tow… plans have to change & adapt. This year we had the most amazing little break in the Yorkshire Dales in a stunning Georgian Cottage.

So… first of all… let me tell you about this simply beautiful cottage. Green Cottage is an elegant Georgian Cottage set on the green of one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque villages. It’s an ideal base to explore the Dales in any season. And… it’s 100% Family-friendly… that includes doggies too. A dog bed & bowl can be provided if needed. Our Coco is such a little diva though & likes her own little comforts – so we took her fave bed & mini food & water bowl… most dog bowls are big enough for her to bathe in lol.

The space itself:

The house is fully detached and set over three floors. Don’t worry thoughif you have little ones, then baby gates can be provided. Seth is 3 & Ted is 6 month so we very much need baby gates on the stairsso this was fab for us. They were already installed too!

Lower Ground Floor

  • Kitchen diner (featuring an extendable table to seat up to 6 guests and fully equipped with Rangemaster cooker, dishwasher, fridge with freezer shelf and microwave along with plenty of good quality cooking and baking equipment, glasses, crockery etc). Honestly…the kitchen has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Even down to the colourful plastic kids crockery from IKEA that we all know & love & can’t live without! We ate in both nights… did ‘snacky food & we had sparkles… obvs

  • Utility room (with washer-dryer, iron and ironing board and a drying space for muddy boots and outdoor gear)There’s great tray there to stand your dirty shoes in there’s a radiator right underneath the coat rail too – so if you’ve gotten a little damp – everything will dry off.

  • Bathroom (with spa whirlpool bath, and toasty underfloor heating). The bath is utterly divine! I had visions of having an uninterrupted bubble bath with a glass of sparkles… but of course that lasted all of 5 minutes until Seth came bounding in lol. But that’s Mama Life for you!

Ground Floor

  • Living room (sofas to comfortably seat 5, log burner, digital Smart TV with Freeview, BBC iPlayer etc as well as lots of books, maps and games) we took our amazon fire stick with us & connected it to the WiFi. So we were able to watch Disney Life, Netflix & Prime. Please note that the play pen in the living room is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • Snug / third bedroom (large day bed which can be made up into full size single bed, second TV, desk)

  • Shower room (walk in monsoon shower with extra large enclosure, heated towel rail) There is also a toilet. It’s fab as there is literally a toilet on each floor. Essential for toilet training! Seth is totally dry now, but we’re still only in our first month of toilet training… so a toilet on hand is utterly essential lol.

First floor

  • Master bedroom (king size bed with deep, comfortable mattress, large wardrobe and antique dressing table) oodles of spaceLoads of room for a travel cot. A travel cot can be provided too if you don’t want to take one.

  • Twin bedroom (two full size single beds with pocket sprung mattresses, chest of drawers and clothes rail) a waterproof mattress cover can be provided too! Perfect! Please note that the bed guard rail is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • WC with basin (‘Jack and Jill’ style access from both upstairs bedrooms, ideal for families, or can be set up as en-suite for either bedroom)

Outside

  • Enclosed garden to rear and side, paved and gravel with outside seating, and a charcoal BBQ
  • Bike store (lockable for up to 5 bikes, can also be used as a pram store)
  • Direct access to the village green – a large expanse of grass free for all to stroll, sit or play
  • Play area visible from back gate – swings, slide, football posts etc. We spent quite a lot of time in the little play area. Seth loves a park. There’s also plenty wide open space to run around or to picnic. But, if you take your fur babies… please ensure you scoop that poop! There’s nothing worse than dog poop making the place dirty!

As you can see from above & from my photos… everything is catered for.

The bedding was so comfy!!! Egyptian cotton bed linen on all beds, 13.5 tog thick duvets (hypoallergenic and feather / down) and plenty of soft and fluffy Egyptian cotton towels. As you can see… Ted had to try out the king size bed lol.

There’s a welcome pack with all the basics for your first couple of days (loo rolls, hand soap, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, tea towels and kitchen cleaning supplies) as well as tea, coffee, milk, bread and a few local treats. This was soooo nice!!! It just means that you don’t have to pack a lot of shopping. And it also means that it’s all ready for you to get the kettle straight on when you arrive… coz let’s face it… we all need that first brew when we arrive somewhere! Especially when you’ve had to sing Baby Shark & Old McDonald Farm all the way there lol.

Also… when we arrived there was a lovely big box of toys left out for Seth to explore, as well as plenty children’s books. There were even a few laid out on his bed for him. That was such a lovely touch & Seth was super excited!

So as well as a travel cot, baby gates & toys… the owners can provide a highchair – which Ted thought was VERY comfy & there is also a baby monitor. Oh & I did mention the plastic IKEA crockery, but there’s also a MAM Baby Cup too. Just so many little things that have been added to make your break so much easier! This cottage is really like a home from home.

For our furbabies, there is a lovely fluffy blanket provided & the use of a hose pipe outside to wash down those dirty paws.

Okay… so you’ve heard all about the gorgeous cottage… but what did we do while we were there? We investigated Settle. What a stunning little town. Seth particularly enjoyed The House That Jack Built. He got some lovely new Melissa & Doug toys. There are so many gorgeous shops, tea rooms & places to eat, to investigate. There’s also the Watershed Mill. It is absolutely stunning… the scenery is simply breathtaking. We popped there for a little bite to eat over lunch time.

We spent a lot of time playing on the green outside of the cottage & in the little park. We were only there for 2 nights… next time we’ll be booking for a week.

The cottage has a lovely organised folder of leaflets & places to visit etc… so helpful for when you’re planning days out.

This beautiful cottage is simply worth every penny. If you book before August & quote: “IxxyPoco” you will be given an exclusive discount. You can book a year in advance. So use that code before it runs out. Simply head to Green Cottage on AirBnB & send a message to the owners quoting my blog.

Thanks as always for reading & I hope you’ve been inspired to book yourself a lovely break away ❤️

Bad Case of Mum Guilt

13 Oct

Hi folks,

37wks pregnant & managing to hang on in there… just!

The last few weeks have been the toughest. How much of a whinge bag do I sound!? But this last week has been filled with emergency hospital visits, tests, scans etc… It just seems to be a never ending circle of tests & sleepless nights.

But, unlike my first pregnancy, I don’t just have the baby to worry about… I have my gorgeous boy Seth to worry about too. When I say worry… I mean I just worry that he’s missing out on his healthy energetic Mammy.

Bear

Bear

Bear

Seth is my sidekick… he’s my little baby bear that I spend every single day with. Normally we go out to the park, picnics, classes… just lots of fun days out. But lately… I’ve just not been able to do that. It makes me feel so guilty. I’m breathless, I have swollen ankles, headaches, pain & I’m so exhausted all of the time. So our usual energetic, fun days out have been swapped for… crafts at home, imaginative play in the house & the garden & Fridays at Music Bugs.

Bear

Bear

Bear

Bear

at least he’s still smiling though in all of those pics… I’m trying my hardest to keep things fun.

I have such high standards for myself… I always want to function at 110%. I cook from scratch everyday… I hoover twice a day… I do a full face of make up everyday… I take Seth out… I think up fun activities… I’m learning to drive…. etc… But, during this pregnancy I’ve suffered with bad sickness, pregnancy migraines, bleeding, hypertension… the list goes on. So all of the high standards I set myself have crumbled a little. There’s been more days playing at home & I just can’t run & roll around like usual. It makes me feel so guilty.

I’ve managed to keep up with my driving lessons, with only having to cancel when I’ve been in hospital. I’ve also managed to keep taking Seth to his Music Bugs sessions. But I’ve not been able to go to his football training – so that’s become an activity that he does with his Daddy. Also, kickabouts in the park have become a daddy/son thing too. I just can’t stand up for very long or run around… it breaks my heart.

Bear

Bear

But… it’s not for much longer luckily. I so cannot wait for our second little Prince to join us. Then I can get back to my usual self. Being able to run & play & be silly. I just can’t wait to start operation lose the ‘Mum Tum’ too.

For all this week has just been the utter worst… I’ve still managed to almost finish all of the Christmas Shopping & wrap it lol. I’ve also made an ‘All Hallows Eve’ Box for Seth & Little T & I’ve booked some fun activities for Seth & his new baby brother to do over Christmas at Centre Parcs. I so want to make it up to Seth for all the sickness that I’ve had. He’s so loving & gorgeous though… he’s always asking if I’m okay & giving me hugs. I’m so lucky to have such a loving, sensitive little boy.

And… we’ve started planning for LittleT’s Christening & when it might be.

We’ve also gotten Little T’s nursery ready for him.

Bear

Bear

My hospital bag is packed & ready to go, the babies bag is packed & ready to go & I’ve got my Mam & Dad practically moved in to help me day to day while Graham is at work. So, for now, everything is pretty organised as much as it can be for Little T’s arrival. With some developments this week at hospital… I’m more of a labour risk now too – so I’ve got my family watching me like a hawk. I really don’t want an emergency c-section. I’d so rather a planned c-section.

I’m just focussing on when we get home & t’ll be time to get us into a lovely routine as a family of 4. Well 5… including Coco. I can’t wait to see my two little boys together. Perfect. It’s going to be lovely having Graham here for 4 weeks on paternity leave. I want to do lots of family things & days out to make it a special time for Seth. I want to ease him in to life as a big brother with plenty fun & laughter.

Even though, It’s be a rough couple of weeks… there’s been some utter stand out moments for me. It’s in the rough/tough times that you find those little gems who keep you going & have your back no matter what. The people who aren’t actually family or blood – but who just want to be there for you. I have lots of friends, but there’s that magical few who always seem to pick you up & make you smile. I’ve got an amazing neighbour who checks on me everyday & keeps me up dated on any fabulous champagne offers lol. I’ve got 2 amazing Mama Friends – one who will take me to Music Bugs when my feet are swollen & another who will hold my hand & offer me a sick bowl when I need an emergency scan. Then there’s my beer garden bezzie who I became bezzies with & even her bridesmaid. You know who you are… you’ve kept me smiling this last week or so & truly do appreciate it. It’s not often you find people who will drop everything for you.

So keep those peepers peeled for any baby announcements!

Making Memories

23 Jun

Hi folks

How stunning has the weather been lately? I love the Summer days when you can go out & about with family. But I also love those days what you can stay home & have fun in the garden… Making those all important memories with your nearest & dearest.

We’ve been having so much fun with our goodies from The Early Centre. We have lots of work to do in our new garden before it’s 100% perfect & how we want it… but for now it’ll do. With our ELC goodies it’s so easy to transform it into our very own little fun playground for Seth.

So, what have we been having fun with?

Racer Car Pool

Seth adores this pool. The great thing about this pool is that it has a little roof on it, which gives a little sun protection by casting some shade. This pool is priced at £30. You’d easily get 2 children in this pool for playtime splash time. We added some ball pit balls to make it a little more fun & interesting. Seth loved the squeaky horn on the steering wheel. One thing you definitely need for this pool is an electrical pump. With an electrical pump it’s ready to use in minutes. Obviously we kept the water level really low with Seth only being little.

Hexagon Ball Pit

We’d definitely recommend this ball pit. We’ve played with it almost every day. We’ve played with it in the garden but also indoors when the weather hasn’t been good. Seth’s even had his friends over to play in it. The balls are nice & soft so there’s no need to worry about any ‘ouchies’ occuring. The pit itself is really easy to assemble… well put it this way… I can do it! The balls come in a great carry bag too which is ideal for storage when you pack it away. This ball pit is priced at £20 & in my eyes it’s an utter bargain. Seth loves it so much. Fab for hand eye coordination & burning off energy before bedtime. It’s also great for parents who want to shed some pounds… I’ve been running around all over the place collecting the balls as Seth finds it hilarious to tip them all out. All good fun lol.

Bubbly Fish Flora – Bubble Machine

Doesn’t everyone love a bubble machine!? Seth goes to baby groups where they use bubble machines & he’s always loved them. So we decided he needed a one of his own. This bubble machine is fab for sensory stimulation & imaginative play. Seth gets so giddy with bubbles. This machine literally filled our garden & started to float over to the neighbours gardens… we are definitely the toddler party garden. This bubble machine is fab for play in the garden & I’d say it’s essential for parties. Priced at £16 – it’s a bargain. So much fun.

Who knew it could be this simple to transform your outdoor space into a little fun playground for the Summer. Then… when winter hits you can still have fun indoors with your ball pit! Perfect!!!

We still have My First Slide & the Water Play Table to review too… so you can look forward to those very soon!

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you’ve found this little review useful!

Hayley & Seth xxx

Catch Up Time

21 Jun

Hi folks,

I think we’re massively overdue a catch up. I just seem to be super busy lately… lots & lots going on!

So… first of all… we had an amazing holiday up on the Northeast Coast. It was so lovely to go away with family & just spend some time together. Newbiggin-By-The-Sea holds so many amazing memories for me when I was little… I always said that I wanted to take my kids there if I ever had any. So to see Seth & my niece playing on the very same beach I used to as a child was just utterly priceless.

We literally just relaxed while we were away… the most energetic thing we did was go for walks by the sea & play on the beach. I was super naughty though while I was away… I ate ice cream… I ate take out & I ate chocolate… yikes! 4 year ago I lost over 6 stone to help me conceive Seth. But… with pregnancy & bad choices… I’m 2 stone heavier than I was when I hit my target weight & I’m currently wearing a size 14/16. I’ve had a word with myself & I’m now currently back in the zone. I’ve been healthy for the last 2 weeks & I’m already 6lbs lighter!!! I WILL get back into my lovely size 12 clothes. I don’t do anything extreme other than drink plenty water & eat plenty veg, fruit & lean meats. I have been having 1 Lean Java Bean Coffee per day too… but thats another story for another blog post as I’ve been reviewing it. I still have treats such as a glass of sparkles or a slice of pizza… but I totally go by the rule of; ‘Everything in Moderation’.

So… I’ve holidayed… I’ve started back with my weightloss &… I’m going to be writing some reviews for the Doncaster Freepress & The Doncaster Star!!! My reviews will all be based around days out & eating out in my local area when you have a young family in tow. I’m super excited!!! I shall let you all know when they’ll be in print.

We had another amazing day out to The Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Saturday. We seriously love that place. We’ve now got an annual pass which is such good value for money. I love going for a long walk around the park then stopping for a lovely little picnic. The weather has just been amazing lately… it’s felt like we’re abroad on holiday. We get so few beautiful days with the sun shining in this country that we need to make the most of them. Plus… when the weather is sunny & warm, you automatically want to eat healthily. You just don’t fancy anything heavy or stodgy.

We have a lot of work to do in the garden in our new home, to make it just perfect. But, for now… it’ll do. We had some paddling pool & bubble machine fun this weekend. Seth absolutely adores being out & about. I’ll be writing a full review on all of his gorgeous new garden toys that we got from the Early Learning Centre. In our old home, we had very little garden at the back & hardly no lawn at all. It wasn’t ideal for Seth to play in  really. So even though our new garden isn’t massive… it’s a lovely size for Seth to be able to play happily. I just can’t wait to get all the decking sorting & some pesky wonky flag stones lifted!

There’s still lots that we want to do around the house to get it just right… for all we’re always super busy with parenting… work… socialising… etc… we’ve managed to get a lot of stuff done. Everything is unpacked & everything has a home. But we’ve decided that we want to swap the spare rooms over. So once that is done we should be pretty much sorted. Seth’s room is looking fab! It’s so colourful & it totally looks like a little boys room now & not a baby’s bedroom. Our room is starting to take shape… although I really want to paint it duck egg blue & pale pink. But I think that’ll have to wait till maybe next year as we have lots of other stuff to do. Once the guest room is sorted, the spare room then can just remain empty apart from Seth’s old SnuzPod & Pram etc… I’m hoping that one day soon it can be a nursery… but I guess we’ll just have to wait & see for that one.

I’m also trying to squeeze in my driving lessons too. As we have no local childcare here, I can only have lessons when Graham is home from work. So I’ve been doing lots of evening driving lessons. Ugh… I so cannot wait until I’ve passed my test & I can go car shopping… preloved cars though of course. I often just wish I’d learnt to drive when I was younger… but then I didn’t so it’s pointless really dwelling on it. At least until I pass, I have Graham to chauffeur us around lol.

I have loads of reviews coming up for you all… JoieMAM UKELCSeamore I Sea Bacon, Crabtree & Evelyn, Hey Like Wow, Lean Java Bean & Panda Life.

Wow… it’s really started to chuck it down with rain here… I’m thinking we could be in for a thunder storm… I mean it has been pretty muggy & humid all day… Seth’s curly hair has been wild with the humidity God love him lol.

Well… I shall leave my post here.

Thanks so much as always for reading… & thanks for sticking with me while I’ve been busy. I promise I’ll be blogging more frequently again!

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx

Nuby Goodies

6 Jun

Hi folks

As you all know, we’ve just been on holiday… we had such an amazing time. But I shall fill you all in about our lovely little vacation in a separate blog post.

So, just before we went away we received a gorgeous little package of lovely goodies from Nuby UK

In our pack we received:

So… let’s begin…

Lock n Roll Bib

OMG… this bib is quite frankly amazing. We tend to dine out a lot & the one thing that can be a bit of a pain is what bib to use. Seth’s bibs get so utterly covered in food, that I tend to buy him disposable ones for when we eat out. Quite simply as I don’t want a dirty bib rolling around in my handbag smearing food all over. This bib is a total game changer! It’s a catch all bib so it’s fab for catching all of that food debris. It’s also easy to wipe clean with a baby wipe. Then… get this… it rolls into a little rubber case keeping all of the nasty foodie bits encased!!! So you can pop straight into your handbag with no worry of foodie splatters leaving disgusting crusty bits in your fave handbag! I’m so unbelievably pleased with this product!

360 Insulated Maxi No Spill Cup

This is the must have Cup of the summer. This cup is for 12m+. It’s great for the transition from sippy cup to open cup drinking. The fab design makes it non spill. Seth loves this cup. He even takes it to Music Bugs with him.

This cup is insulated to keep drinks cooler in the summer. I have to say that it defo works. I take this cup out with us when we’re out & about, with Seth’s water in it & it’s always nice & cool. It comes with a little lid too that you can pop on for when it’s in your handbag.

SureGrip Plate

The SureGrip range is fab for developing those all important table manners. I don’t know about your little ones, but if I give Seth a plate he just throws it within minutes. So the Suregrip plate is great. It sticks so well to Seth’s Cosatto Supa Noodle High Chair tray. It’s such an easy safe way to teach him to eat from a plate rather than just his tray. This plate washes so well too. Seth hasn’t been able to pull this plate off his tray yet… so we’re doing well!

Garden Fresh Fruitsicles

Fruitsicles are for making your own ice lollies at home. Cleverly designed for little hands and they even catch drips. I made some yummy fruit purée ice lollies. Hopefully they’ll help Seth when he has sore gums from those pesky teeth he’s sprouting.

You can see from the pics below just how much Seth loves them. He was even trying to drink every last drop from the drip catcher. I made banana, apple & blueberry purée lollies. Deffinitely a big hit on those sore teething gums.

Squirters Bathtime Vehicles

Seth adores bath time playtime. These little squidgy cars are a fantastic addition to his bath toys.

With them being made from squidgy plastic – they’re great for biting. Seth has used these as a fun teether whilst in the bath. Not only do they squirt water, but thy squeak & float too. Fantastic little bath time toys that are great for developing hand eye coordination.

So there you have it… that’s our latest little Nuby bundle of goodies. Don’t forget that you get free shipping on all orders over £15 from Nuby. Utterly amazing!

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you found this post useful 🙂

Getting Things Done

3 May

Hi folks

Wowzers… am I happy to see the beginning of May. Last month was just literally filled with so much stress. We’ve still so many box’s to unpack & flat pack to build. Well who am I trying to kid…? We all know I don’t build flat pack lol.

So… May! May is one of my most favourite month’s. Its seriously up there with December. Generally… the weather is quite good… Spring is in the air & there’s cherry blossoms blooming all over… and… it’s MY birthday month! Oh & the hubsters too lol. May is also shaping up to be a very busy month too! We’ve got two birthday’s coming up… a trip to London… a Wedding… & then a little vacation at the end of the month. As well as sorting the house out. To be honest though… we’ve pretty much sorted the main rooms. But we need to desperately sort out the office & the make up storage situation in our bedroom. We’ve also some shelves to get on the wall in Seth’s room to make him a beautiful big book wall as a little feature for him, just a bigger version of the one he had in his old little bedroom. He’s been having so much fun making a mess in his new big bedroom. He’s taken to the new house so well… it’s like he’s just not bothered. He’s gone from sleeping 10hrs through the night to almost 14hrs… loves his sleep that kid.

The kitchen is pretty much sorted, but I really want to convert the utility room into a pantry like we had at the old house. But that’s not priority really I suppose. The hubster is absolutely desperate to get out into our new garden to get that all tidied up. Nothing major, but the garden needs a little TLC… mainly just the grass being cut etc… & some wonky flags sorted. We’ve got some decking which is going to be our garden project… I’ve also told the hubster I want him to build me a garden bar out of wooden palettes lol… so watch this space for that!

I actually really want to do a tour of the house on Youtube. I need to back to Youtubing too. As well as needing to update my website. I seem to be developing a to do list the length of my arm! Or in fact… make that the length of both my arms out together!

In June, we’re getting a skip to basically declutter in the shed we’ve kind of inherited with the house. We made a discovery of lots of broken toys & a rundown rabbit hutch. So… skip it along with any of our stuff we can part ways with. I’m like the anti-hoarder. If it’s not been used in the last 12 month & it’ll sell? I sell it. If it’s junk? I skip it. I hate clutter. Plus… clutter makes it so much more time consuming when dusting & cleaning.

The front garden is little & cute & Auntie Nicky got stuck into that this weekend just gone. I have no idea when it comes to gardening… so I just thought we had an array of full big bush type thingy’s… apparently not. Some were killing other bushes & were badly overgrown! Who knew? So… she got stuck right in there & literally in a flick of a garden trowel – she’d totally spruced it all up. It looks like a new little front garden. Thanks Aunty Nicky!

I’m still ploughing on with my driving lessons. I think I’ve had 19 lessons now. For those of you who are familiar with Doncaster… I’ve done all three big roundabouts. York Road Roundabout & Hub Roundabout have been fairly easy to master as they’re big… but they’re broken down with plenty traffic lights. However… the Racecourse Roundabout is a little more scary. But… I’ve done it now quite a few times. So I guess now it’s just all about building confidence. Luckily for me – I have a fab instructor. I need to start swatting up for my theory test big time… I haven’t even booked that yet!

So… going back to the house. It’s amazing to have a fully equipped kitchen again. Before we moved I had things packed & I was trying to use up all of the food I had in stock & we’d also sold a few appliances. So to have a proper kitchen again is just fab. I’ve been in the kitchen making lots of lovely, healthy, home cooked food. We’ve had loads of beautiful, fresh deliveries from Bearefaced Groceries too. I always feel so much better when I’m eating better & drinking plenty water & green tea. Hey… I even managed to fit into one of my favourite size 12 sweatshirts last week too!!!

Life seems to be returning to some kind of normality thank God. Seriously… moving… it’s the pits! I’m never ever moving house ever again! Packing & unpacking… just yuck! This weekend shall be filled with fun… rather than house stuff. It’s mine & the hubsters birthday weekend so it’s all about fun & our little family. I guess what we’ll be doing will mostly depend upon the weather. I’m hoping ti’ll be nice so we can have a little picnic at The Yorkshire Wildlife Park. I’ve promised Seth that he can go visit the ‘real’ Lion Guard & the ‘big’ Sophies. For anyone who’s life isn’t consumed with Kids TV & Kids teething toys… that’s just Lions & Giraffes lol. I’m also hoping that at some point over the weekend I’ll be taken out for a meal too 🙂

I’ve got some reviews coming up on Skincare... Scented Wax MeltsEarly Learning Centre… & Music Bugs!

Well… I hope I’ve not bored you all far too much with my little catch up 🙂 Thanks as always for reading!

Living ‘Sparkly’ the IxxyPoco Way

9 Aug

Hi folks ✨

Well… It’s no secret that I like fancy things. I love to live life sparkly & being surrounded by nice things & designer labels. I like eating nice food & drinking sparkly yumminess. But, I like all of these things at the best bargain price.

I’m the Queen of coupons & the Princess of bargain shopping. There’s no shame in bargain hunting. The cost of living has become so high that quite often treats are forgotten. Well, life is for living & I love a treat.

I’m such a handbag & purse pervert… I’m always scouring glossy magazines for the latest stunning arm candy. Once I have my heart set on a new bag – I’ll stop at nothing until it’s mine. Generally I’ll head to my current bags that I own & I’ll either have a cull & sell anything I’ve not used in the last 12months & put the money toward my new purchase. Or… I’ll get down to some good old saving. Even if it’s just £5 a month… I’ll save until I have the pennies to buy it. I’ve just sold 5 handbags & with the money I’ve managed to buy myself a new Kate Spade Purse & a Vivienne Westwood Tote. It’s a great way of freeing up some room as well as buying something new. And, your old bags go to a new home. It’s kind of like recycling really. I really need to start organising ‘swishing’ parties. A Swishing Party is basically where everyone brings something they no longer want, then you swap with someone else. So you could bring clothes, shoes, bags, scarves… Anything really! Such a good idea & a money saver! Plus, it’s a good excuse to get the girlies over to sip some sparkles. Talking of sparkles…

Sparkles ✨ Now, we all know I love a glass of sparkles. Whether it be a good bottle of Champagne or a cheap Cava. The whole reason I call it sparkles is so it’s very ambiguous as what’s in my glass. It’s always bubbly, it’s always dry… But is it always Champagne? Heck no! I’d love to be sipping Moet every weekend, but that’s become rather pricey! So, my wine rack consists of Cava that I’ve bought at £4 on offer, Prosecco when it’s 5 for £25 & Champagne when there’s money off. Even Moet, Lanson & Veuve go on offer sometimes. When they do I tend to buy a bottle to keep for a special occasion. Places like Aldi & Asda are great for picking up a bottle of Champagne for £10… Sometimes cheaper if you’re lucky.

Food… Now I LOVE food! I cook from scratch & I make my own sauces. Meat etc… Can be a bit pricey at times. But it’s all about where you shop & quantities. If you follow my diet page you’ll know I use my Crock Pot a lot. I buy my meat pre-frozen from Asda which saves a lot. I tend to buy whole fresh chickens as it’s cheaper to buy a whole chicken sometimes & then it’s lasts a good few days. There’s so many different things you can make with chicken. I buy rice & pasta in bulk. I’m lucky & have a big walk in pantry which is great for storage. I tend to buy giant sacks of pasta & rice which is so much cheaper. I also buy tinned items in bulk too whenever I see an offer. If I see a vegetable offer in a local market I’ll buy it in bulk then blanch & freeze them. We eat well… We have gorgeous food… But at a good price.

Make up… I couldn’t live without the stuff. Again I buy when there’s an offer. I buy most of my make from Debenhams & Boots. Both places have excellent points cards. It’s the best way to buy. Make sure you use the offers & coupons to boost your points. That way you build up a good balance to spend at a later date. I can get up to £200 worth of boots points on my card within 6 month. It just makes your pennies go that little bit further. I also have some amazing acrylic storage which I bought from Muji. It’s so much cheaper than a Kardashian Acrylic Cube.

Somethings in life I won’t scrimp on like SKY TV (sad I know lol) Eating Out & things for Seth. But that’s fine because I try to get everything else at a bargain price lol.

So there you have it… This is my sparkly way of living life ‘fancy’ & Sparkly ✨

Thanks for reading & have a great day 💕

Learning On the Job

23 Jun

Hi folks ✨

We had such a fun day yesterday… Not only was the sunshine shining (it’s so sad that I get excited for a hot sunny day as it means I can get my washing out lol) but we had our first class at Music Bugs. It was so cute. Seth adored it. I think it may have been sensory overload for Seth though as he fell asleep 10mins before the end. But, he is by far the youngest in the class. I would totally recommend this class to anyone with bambino’s. Here’s a link to their website if you’re interested in finding out a little more info.

We’ve got our name down for a few more other classes that will be starting  in September. Mammy/Baby meet ups are fun & lovely, but with Music Bugs I feel like Seth is learning too. He already loves his books, we’ve got some lovely touch & feel board books. He loves the textures & the colours. So a few other classes to go with Music Bugs will be lovely.

Mammy-ing can be such a minefield. The patenting arena can be so competitive… Do you breast feed? Does your baby sleep all night? Do you use soothers/dummies? Cloth or disposable diapers? Dress like a baby or a mini adult? Allow your pets to interact with your baby? Wean at 4 or 6 month?  Honestly… Does it matter? Whatever happened to Mother knows best? All of our bambino’s are different & we nurture according to their individual needs.

Seth has been a tummy sleeper since he was 3 weeks. A lot of people disagree with tummy sleeping… But it’s the only way Seth likes to sleep. He can push himself up & he can move his head side to side. It also eased his colic 100%. Seth also has a soother. He doesn’t sleep with it, but he has his soother whenever he wants it through the day. Seth will not settle in a GroBag at night. So he has a blanket…. Again – something I was told NOT to do. Seth was breast fed for 9 days, but when my milk disappeared I switched exclusively to formula. I use Pampers or Aldi Mamia disposable diapers. I plan on weaning him from 4 month. Seth has slept all night from 8 weeks. All I can say is that I have a happy content baby… I don’t do things by the book… I’m learning on the job. I do what I feel is right for Seth.

When you share with the world that you’re expecting a gorgeous bundle of joy, everyone suddenly becomes an expert. I think I listened too much to everyone else’s opinions. After a while it makes you feel really crap. Those people may be experts with their own babies… But the only expert for your baby is you. I’m very relaxed with my nurturing/parenting methods. I feed on demand – he has as much or as little as he likes. I get him dressed each morning then Pjs on an evening so he becomes accustomed to daytime & nightime. I let him nap when he wants to nap, etc…. The result is a happy contented Seth.

Through the day I try to make things as exciting as possible for him. I do this around blogging & running our little business… Hopefully big business one day lol & still while trying to prepare & cook healthy meals. We sing songs… Have tummy time… Go for walks… Have baby meet ups… Sit in the garden… Play on his baby gym or just play on a blanket with soft toys & interactive toys. Seth just loves being talked too & sang too. They’re like his ultimate fave things. These things work for us… But not for everyone.

The best advice I can give anyone who is about to embark on their journey of parenthood is:

  1. Don’t have expectations… Go with the flow
  2. Enjoy it all… Even those sleepless nights  at the start… They don’t last long
  3. Buy lots of muslin cloths!!!

Mammy hood is the best job I’ve ever had. There’s no induction pack or probation period… You’re thrown in head first… But it’s AMAZING!!! I simply cannot wait to give Seth a  baby brother or sister. That won’t be for at least 18month, but it’s definitely on the cards 💙💕

Thanks for reading folks… I’ve noticed more countries & readers popping up on my stats… I really appreciate it ✨

Love & Huggles,

Hayley & Seth xxx
