Travel System Love

28 Aug

Hi folks,

Can you believe that I have less than 10 weeks left! By the end of this week I’ll be able to say that we will have a new baby next month! Eeeeck!

Everything is all steam ahead with organising & baby prep. Last week I received the most stunning travel system from Kids Kargo.

This is the Kids Kargo Fitty Jogger in navy & tan.

As you can see from the photo’s… it’s utterly stunning.

Obviously, I haven’t been out & about with this just yet as ‘Little T’ hasn’t arrived yet. But, I can give you some insight into how easy it is to assemble & how it looks & feels.

Being quite far on now with my pregnancy & having a few ups & downs with health… my hubster has totally banned me from doing anything that requires any kind of bending or lifting. So the assembly was 100% down to him. I did however, get him to write me up a report on how he found it lol. Yes you read that right… he wrote me a small report… so here goes… in the words of Graham Thorne;

The travel system is really easy to put together out of the box. It was really surprising how big the travel system is as the box was quite small and could easily fit in a small hatchback car.

Most of the packaging is recyclable with only some large plastic bags and foam on all the important parts. It was so easy to go together, that I barely even looked at the instructions – it was logical and very easy to figure out.

As soon as it was out the box it was really striking; the navy blue and leather brown really complement each other, this really does look classy.

The front wheel went in first with a reassuring click, the two rear wheels also went in really easily and the mudguards clicked into place with no problem at all.

The next thing I noticed was the handle pivot, this is good for when you want your wrists to be in the perfect position.

The next thing I noticed was the underneath storage/basket section this is really big and fit perfectly.

Next I checked out how this would collapse down – this is really easy to do. You pull up on two latches with one of the latches requiring a thumb press on a leaver, this is for safety.

Next I checked the brake, it is really good. It’s solid – doesn’t feel flimsy and will be easy to use without damaging your shoes.

The rest of the system went together well. Everything feels solid safe and secure, there’s barely any movement with the pram when you wobble it side to side – this is something I do just now and again to check how stable a pram will be on bumpy grounds.

Having a toddler section down by your feet is a really good idea – the only downside to this is if they have muddy feet, they could potentially mess the storage area, but this is a small price to pay… but then every parent always has a baby wipe handy!

So there’s my hubsters insight. It’s sometimes good to get a Daddy’s perspective I think, purely as I look at different to things to him. I’m more about how it looks & if it’s heavy or clunky to use, but my hubby tends to look more into how it works & fits together. He’s more technical & I’m more aesthetic shall we say.

As my hubster said above – it really is classy looking! It’s just so beautiful. I mean, yes it matters on how it feels & works… but you also want it to look nice.

I love that I can adjust the push bar – being a taller girl at 5ft 8… there’s nothing worse than feeling hunched over when pushing a pram. The inside of the pram/carrycot itself is so lovely. It’s beautifully soft & very well made. A newborn will be super cosy in here. Especially with the added footmuff. Little T is due 31st October… so I definitely need something cosy & warm. Also, along with the temperature, you need to consider weather conditions under foot. This pram has fab chunky wheels with a good tread/grip, as well as built in suspension for better steering, balance & grip. When you’re looking for that perfect pram for your precious babies, you need to feel secure & confident. I have no doubt that this pram will give you that peace of mind.

Now, the added bonus to this pram, is the toddler seat on the bottom. We all know the trials & tribulations of dragging around a tired & grumpy toddler. This extra seat gives you the option of a secure seat with strap for your older child. This will be perfect for Seth when he’s feeling tired… or for when I need to dash out of the door & he doesn’t want to walk. It just gives you a little more freedom. The pram of course comes with 2 rain covers so your little ones won’t get wet. And the carrycot easily converts into a buggy seat as your baby grows.

What else do you need to know… the fitty jogger is compatible with Maxi Cosi 0+ car seat (Adapters available), or Britax Babysafe 0+ car seat (no Adapters needed)

So… I think that’s as much as I can tell you for now. Of course I shall be reviewing again once Little T has arrived. I have added the links to Kids Kargo so you can go look & shop!

Also, don’t forget that you can follow Kids Kargo on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter.

For keeping to update with what I’m up too daily – follow me on Instagram.

As always… thanks so much for reading & I hope you’ve found this review useful!

Fit Fab Glammy Mammy

31 Jan

Hi folks,

I cannot believe that we’re already a month into 2018! What is that about? Time is literally zooming by so fast.

This last month we’ve made so many changes. We’ve done so many little DIY type things around the house… not like major things, but stuff that kinda niggles at you. So, we’ve changed the blind in our en-suite bathroom to a pink polka dot one. Way better than the bamboo style we had. We added a new blue blind in the family bathroom, and a blind & new curtains in the guest room… it really looks like a different room. We don’t have a fancy guest room or anything lol… it’s the smallest bedroom, but it accommodates a double bed really well. Since we don’t live anywhere near our family – we always need a comfy guest room. We’ve also emptied the spare room… it’s literally a blank canvas now. I’m hoping that sometime soon that may become a nursery… here’s hoping!

I’ve had a little change around in Seth’s room to make way for this birthday gift! Can you believe my little bear will be turning 2 in March!? He has so many toys & books… so rather than buying him more toys, we’ve decided to get him a bedroom TeePee! I’m so gonna make him a cool little boy fort where he can retreat too. It’s something he’ll be able to play with for years & years… I can’t wait!

We had a pretty bad leak before Christmas… nightmare! The en-suite shower started to leak & the water came running out of the light fittings downstairs. It’s all fixed now & there’s no damage to the ceiling… but there’s water marks… so our next job on the list will be to prime & paint that. Well… when I say ‘our’… I actually mean that the hubster will be doing it & I’ll be making the cups of tea lol.

January 8th marked the start of my ‘back to healthy eating’ plan. 3 weeks in & I’m 1 stone down!!! Thats totally insane isn’t it!? I really would love to lose another 2 stone. I’ve not been doing anything crazy… just literally cut out the bad foods & replaced them with the good healthy ones. I have my diet page over on Facebook where you can see all of my recipes & have a spy at what I eat day to day. It’s no secret that I’d simply love to have another baby. To do that, I need to be the healthiest I can be… so my motivating factors are being super healthy for Seth & the thought of getting pregnant again. I can be a better Mammy when I’m carrying less weight… because of my leg & back, I struggle somedays. Especially when I’m carrying extra weight. I have my eye on that size 12 goal & I’m not going to give up until I reach it.

Seth’s been pretty poorly this last week with a virus & conjunctivitis. Whenever he’s cutting a tooth, he always catches something bless him. It’s just awful when he’s poorly… You feel completely helpless. I’m hoping that he’s now on the mend. Kids… they’re nothing but a worry. Honestly… I just don’t think I knew proper worry until I became a Mammy.

Driving… ugh… where do I start. I don’t know if it’s my age or what, but honestly, learning to drive is super hard. I think it’s even worse coz I simply do not have time to do it because of lack of childcare with having no family around us. So I get 1hour per week & then sometimes I miss a good few weeks due to holidays etc… I’m hoping now I’m kinda on the home stretch… I’ve mastered roundabouts – I think lol. I’ve started my manoeuvres… its just honestly harder than I ever imagined. But, I’m not a quitter… I shall stick at it until I’m test ready & then passed. My instructor really does deserve a medal! lol.

So… what else have I been up too? Well, I’ve been keeping up with my new years resolution of doing more things for me – I’m still keeping to my getting my nails done routine. I actually love it… I feel more like the old me. It’s so easy to fall into the ‘Mammy Trap’ of just becoming super Mummsy. I mean, I wanna be a Mam… but still Hayley… A Fit Fab Glammy Mammy lol. So the next step is to start having nights out again… eeeeck!

What is 2018 going to bring??? Well… we have a seaside caravan holiday booked… 2 Center Parcs Holidays & a Center Parcs Day Trip for Seth’s Birthday. I’m also hoping it’ll bring my driving license lol… and… getting pregnant. I have my positive pants on & nothing is going to shatter that sparkle & determination. Lot’s to look forward too & lot’s to work toward!

Thanks so much for sticking with me folks. Oh, just in case you noticed… my website had a bit of a glitch & went offline apparently… but it should all be back up & running so I’m told. www.hayleythorne.co.uk

Thanks so much for reading!

The Power of Coffee

22 Jun

Hi folks

As I mentioned in my last blog post – I’m working super hard at being healthy. Eating right… drinking plenty of water & trying to fit in daily body magic. But… along with all of these things, I’ve been sampling some coffee. A coffee that improves your mood… improves your energy levels… increases your focus & can even aid with regulating your appetite! So… what is this magical elixir I hear you ask!? Lean Java Bean

Now… you all know that I don’t go in for faddy diets. I don’t like anything that involves meal replacement or dropping to a scarily low calorie diet. I’m all about everything in moderation & losing weight the old fashioned way. I don’t like the idea of weight loss medication either.

Whilst having a catch up with a good friend, she told me about a health drink. A health drink that was coffee! I mean normally we’re bombarded with literature claiming coffee is bad. Lean Java Bean has increased anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants seems to be some kind of buzz word we hear on health shows & in health magazines… but the top & bottom of it is that they’re fantastic for boosting your immune system, our mood, our memory, skin… etc… so many benefits.

Now… this all sounds great… but does it actually work. I was quite excited at the thought of a magical cup of coffee that’d give me a massive energy boost. I mean, as a Mammy to a 15 month old who juggles work, Mammy-ing & running a house, I can always do with a bit extra energy. You can imagine I was super excited to start my 3 day trial. You literally drink one each morning. Stick to a healthy diet & drink plenty water.

Honestly, I was not expecting to feel any different. But, after my first cup I seriously felt a little kick. I felt more awake & alert. I had more energy & I actually didn’t feel hungry between meals. And that was after day one!!!

The coffee itself tastes nice. I often find with a health drink, they can taste flavourless & quite frankly a little disgusting. So what a pleasure it is to drink a nice cup of coffee.

Now… let’s get to the weightloss aspect. I didn’t expect any weight loss with this coffee. And like I’ve already said I don’t do miracle weightloss aids. But… along with a healthy diet I lost 5lbs during my trial of this coffee. That’s right… 3 days… 3 cups of coffee… 5 whole lbs!!! I was speechless.

I’m sure some folk will say it’s a placebo effect etc… but as someone who has gone through a lengthy weightloss journey, this deffinitely feels to me like an extra little boost. Well, put it this way – I’m so convinced that it works that I’ve bought myself a whole box.

I’m actually so impressed. If you’re intrigued & would like more info, then head on over to the Nulife Facebook Page.

I can’t wait to see more results!

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you’ve found my review useful.

Catch Up Time

21 Jun

Hi folks,

I think we’re massively overdue a catch up. I just seem to be super busy lately… lots & lots going on!

So… first of all… we had an amazing holiday up on the Northeast Coast. It was so lovely to go away with family & just spend some time together. Newbiggin-By-The-Sea holds so many amazing memories for me when I was little… I always said that I wanted to take my kids there if I ever had any. So to see Seth & my niece playing on the very same beach I used to as a child was just utterly priceless.

We literally just relaxed while we were away… the most energetic thing we did was go for walks by the sea & play on the beach. I was super naughty though while I was away… I ate ice cream… I ate take out & I ate chocolate… yikes! 4 year ago I lost over 6 stone to help me conceive Seth. But… with pregnancy & bad choices… I’m 2 stone heavier than I was when I hit my target weight & I’m currently wearing a size 14/16. I’ve had a word with myself & I’m now currently back in the zone. I’ve been healthy for the last 2 weeks & I’m already 6lbs lighter!!! I WILL get back into my lovely size 12 clothes. I don’t do anything extreme other than drink plenty water & eat plenty veg, fruit & lean meats. I have been having 1 Lean Java Bean Coffee per day too… but thats another story for another blog post as I’ve been reviewing it. I still have treats such as a glass of sparkles or a slice of pizza… but I totally go by the rule of; ‘Everything in Moderation’.

So… I’ve holidayed… I’ve started back with my weightloss &… I’m going to be writing some reviews for the Doncaster Freepress & The Doncaster Star!!! My reviews will all be based around days out & eating out in my local area when you have a young family in tow. I’m super excited!!! I shall let you all know when they’ll be in print.

We had another amazing day out to The Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Saturday. We seriously love that place. We’ve now got an annual pass which is such good value for money. I love going for a long walk around the park then stopping for a lovely little picnic. The weather has just been amazing lately… it’s felt like we’re abroad on holiday. We get so few beautiful days with the sun shining in this country that we need to make the most of them. Plus… when the weather is sunny & warm, you automatically want to eat healthily. You just don’t fancy anything heavy or stodgy.

We have a lot of work to do in the garden in our new home, to make it just perfect. But, for now… it’ll do. We had some paddling pool & bubble machine fun this weekend. Seth absolutely adores being out & about. I’ll be writing a full review on all of his gorgeous new garden toys that we got from the Early Learning Centre. In our old home, we had very little garden at the back & hardly no lawn at all. It wasn’t ideal for Seth to play in  really. So even though our new garden isn’t massive… it’s a lovely size for Seth to be able to play happily. I just can’t wait to get all the decking sorting & some pesky wonky flag stones lifted!

There’s still lots that we want to do around the house to get it just right… for all we’re always super busy with parenting… work… socialising… etc… we’ve managed to get a lot of stuff done. Everything is unpacked & everything has a home. But we’ve decided that we want to swap the spare rooms over. So once that is done we should be pretty much sorted. Seth’s room is looking fab! It’s so colourful & it totally looks like a little boys room now & not a baby’s bedroom. Our room is starting to take shape… although I really want to paint it duck egg blue & pale pink. But I think that’ll have to wait till maybe next year as we have lots of other stuff to do. Once the guest room is sorted, the spare room then can just remain empty apart from Seth’s old SnuzPod & Pram etc… I’m hoping that one day soon it can be a nursery… but I guess we’ll just have to wait & see for that one.

I’m also trying to squeeze in my driving lessons too. As we have no local childcare here, I can only have lessons when Graham is home from work. So I’ve been doing lots of evening driving lessons. Ugh… I so cannot wait until I’ve passed my test & I can go car shopping… preloved cars though of course. I often just wish I’d learnt to drive when I was younger… but then I didn’t so it’s pointless really dwelling on it. At least until I pass, I have Graham to chauffeur us around lol.

I have loads of reviews coming up for you all… JoieMAM UKELCSeamore I Sea Bacon, Crabtree & Evelyn, Hey Like Wow, Lean Java Bean & Panda Life.

Wow… it’s really started to chuck it down with rain here… I’m thinking we could be in for a thunder storm… I mean it has been pretty muggy & humid all day… Seth’s curly hair has been wild with the humidity God love him lol.

Well… I shall leave my post here.

Thanks so much as always for reading… & thanks for sticking with me while I’ve been busy. I promise I’ll be blogging more frequently again!

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx

Healthy Me… Healthy Family… Barefaced Groceries

1 Feb

Hi folks,

I’ve got a lovely little review for you. As all you know I’m a continuing weight battler… having lost 6 stone already… I’m in the throws of operation ‘lose baby weight’. I’ve always looked at these online sites that send you the ingredients with recipe cards to make like 3 or 4 meals. But I’ve always found them to be quite costly.

A few weeks back I stumbled upon a fab online grocery store called ‘Bearfaced Groceries’. They literally provide fantastic fresh food boxes. You can choose from a variety of boxes… all meat… slimmers… vegetarian… all fruit… or a fab mix of everything. Everything is Farm Fresh too!

I was so excited to receive my Bearefaced Box. I received the Deluxe Seasonal Box which is currently on offer for £50 from £100. So… what’s in the box?

  • 2kg of Chicken Breast Fillets
  • 250g Unsmoked Dry Cured Bacon
  • 2 8oz Grass Fed Rump Steaks
  • 4 Pork Loin Steaks
  • 5oog Grass Fed Lean Beef Mince
  • 4 Lamb Chops
  • 2 Skin on Haddock Fillets
  • 1 Butternut Squash
  • 1 Pack of Watercress
  • 2 Packs of Coriander
  • 2 Garlic Bulbs
  • 2 Pieces of Ginger
  • 4 Golden Beetroot
  • 1 Turnip
  • Large Parsnips
  • 1 Large Cauliflower
  • 1 Large Broccoli
  • 2 XL Onions
  • 500g Mixed Carrots
  • 2 Large Leeks
  • Mixed Peppers
  • 5 Large White Potatoes
  • And… You get a £10 voucher off your next box!!!

You may not get recipe cards… but you can always check the recipes section on the their website for any hints or tips. Or… head on over to my weightloss journey page. I have had so much fun making some fab food with this box. It’s even better as I feel so confident using these products to make food for my little boy as it’s such good quality & super fresh! I was determined to not waste a single thing. So, I decided to use any leftover veggies to make homemade soups. That way I could batch cook & then freeze it. This was such a good idea. With all of these nasty bugs & viruses going around, I wanted to give us all a boost. Seth loved all of the soups I’ve made. Weaning has never been easier.

Having so many fresh ingredients at my finger tips has been so fantastic. Normally I buy a lot of frozen meats & vegetables to keep costs down. But these boxes are so affordable… especially with the massive discounts right now. I’ve made chicken curry, chilli, Moroccan stye lamb, bolognese, homemade burgers etc… Our food has been so colourful & aesthetically pleasing.

The best thing about this boxes as there isn’t any contract or commitment you have to enter into. You literally just order what you want… when you want it! You can’t say fairer than that. If you’ve been inspired to order… which I hope you have… then just follow this link to receive £10 off your first order! So you could get the box I received for a mere £40!!! The meat alone comes to waaaaaaaay more than that in value. The meat is so well packaged too, that you can easily pop straight into the freezer. I split up a lot of the meats to freeze. That way it stays nice & fresh. Oh &… the way in which these boxes are packed is amazing!!! The food was cool & fresh with the help of fab packaging… lots of Cooke blocks & insulation. So you e no worry of your food arriving in tiptop condition!

So… what are you waiting for!? Order a box! Feed your family fresh, home cooked food that won’t cost the earth. I mean lets face it… everyone is on a budget these days… this company is seriously a find. I will be ordering more from this company. They’re real people offering real food & ingredients at fab prices. Gone are the days that we all have enough time to go buy fresh veg at the green groceries & locally sourced meats from the butchers. Well… I know I don’t have the time. My life is so full of Mammy-ing, work, baby groups, housework, socialising etc… I barely have time for anything else.

I hope you’ve found this blog useful!

Thanks as always for reading!

Reviews and Recipes

7 Jan

Hi folks ✨

Well… It’s been such a busy week so far!!! Monday was tests… Tuesday was scan, Anti D injection (which I did NOT like & it made me feel so ill) & a consultant appointment. Yesterday I braved the dentists chair to have a half filling in a small crack in on of my wisdom teeth. I’m glad I went to have it corrected – but I was super scared. I have a bit of a phobia of the dentists chair… But luckily for me I have a lovely dentist who is superb at making you feel at ease. So today is going to be a much needed pyjama day ✨

Yesterday before I went to the dentist – I received the most gorgeous parcel in the shape of the Scentsy ‘Whoot’ Electric Warmer. It’s seriously stunning… especially of an evening as it lights up. It created a lovely little pattern on my wall. This Owl warmer is priced at £39.00. In my opinion it truly is worth every penny. Once you have the warmer, then there’s no limit on what scents you can use. Plus a bar to melt is only £5.50 & it splits into 6 pieces. So that’s like 6 separate wax tarts. It’s excellent value. You all know I’m very much a Yankee Candle girl… I was VERY skeptical about Scentsy, but I’m completely won over. With a candle I’m always worried of the smoke it kicks out & it discolouring my walls. I mean, before we moved I had to repaint my lounge wall a few times to cover up really bad soot marks. Plus, now that we’ll have a little person in the home from March, I just think this electric warmer will be safer too… no naked flame. Where I’ve positioned the warmer – the flex is hidden down the back of the unit it’s stood on. As the wax is heated at a low temperature – the scent will outlast a regular candle too. My warmer is in my lounge & I could smell the fragrance all the way upstairs in all of the bedrooms. When I came downstairs this morning I could smell it – even though it had been off all night. Then the best part is – there are over 80 fragrances!!! All you need to do is pour the wax away when you fancy a change.

If you’d like to order or peruse the collection, click here. Or if you’re on Facebook, you can like this page & ask questions & see all of the latest special offers to be had. I seriously cannot recommend these products enough! ✨

I’ve been making some truly yummy concoctions in my Crock Pot… all incredibly low in fat & calories too!

 Chilli

  • 250g Lean Steak Mince
  • 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • Frozen Sliced Peppers
  • Frozen Spinach
  • 3 Celery Sticks Sliced
  • Frozen Sweetcorn
  • 1 Tin Bean Salad
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Granules
  • 1 Tsp Dried Chilli Flakes

I cook on low literally all day. You may need to thicken with some tomato puree before serving.

Spaghetti & Meatballs

I love spaghetti & meatballs… Quorn is a great alternative to meat & it’s super low in fat. I find that the meatballs are a bit ‘bouncy’ in texture if you cook on the hob… but in a slow cooker or Crock Pot – they’re amazing! Really tender & they soak up the flavours really well!

  • Quorn Swedish Meatballs
  • 500g Pasatta
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Granules
  • 1 Tsp Mixed Herbs

Again, I leave this to cook all day on low. I serve with dried pasta as this is lower in fat & calories than fresh pasta.

Chicken Chasseur/Casserole

This is my healthy version of a chassuer… but it’s more like a casserole really.

  • Frozen Skinless & Boneless Chicken Thighs
  • 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
  • Frozen Green Beans
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Granules
  • Sprinkle of Thyme
  • Sprinkle or Tarragon

Cook on low all day. I tend to serve with potatoes & veg. The chicken will break apart & give a ‘pulled chicken’ effect. Chicken thighs tend to cook better in the slow cooker as they don’t dry out like breast can.

By using a lot of frozen ingredients, tinned or dried… you cut down time spent in the kitchen. I like to keep my recipes quick & simple for a busy lifestyle… Coz lets face it… we all seem to lead hectic lives these days. Also, using frozen ingredients cuts down on a lot of waste as you simply use what you need -then bung it back into the freezer. Frozen products tend to be that bit cheaper too. Healthy eating does not need to cost a fortune. My monthly food bill is a lot cheaper these days. Some dried herbs & a tin of tomatoes is much cheaper & healthier than a pre-made jar of sauce. The oil, salt & sugar content in a jar of sauce is normally ridiculous! If you’d like daily recipes then like my facebook page here. After I recieved good blood test results with regard to my sugar levels & vitamin levels… I owe that to my healthy lifestyle. Baby T is thriving on it too 💙

We’ve bought a lot of stuff over the last few days from MotherCare. Don’t forget that they have an amazing sale & offers on right now 💙

Well… I shall leave this post here.

Thanks again for reading… I’ve had another peak in my monthly stats.

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx

Time for Reflection and Time to Achieve

31 Dec

Hi folks ✨

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to each & every one of you for your continued support. In Sept 2012 I started my weightloss journey as a UK size 24. I wanted to lead a healthier lifestyle in the hopes of gaining my confidence back & becoming healthy enough to conceive. I got down to a UK size 12 last year & managed to maintain with the support of my family, friends & you lot!!! In July of this year we found out it’d finally happened… We are going to be PARENTS!!! 💙 It’s been an up & down journey with lots of complications, but I’m now at 27wks & a UK size 14/16. So 2016 will see the birth of our miracle boy & me getting back to my target size of a size 12. I know I can do it with everyone’s support. Once again… Thank you! This blog has helped me to overcome my weight issues & you’ve all inspired me to keep going. So… My resolutions for this year are:

  • To be the best Mammy I can be
  • To continue blogging… This blog is almost 6 years old
  • To continue with my healthier lifestyle
  • Be as successful as I can be & build our business
  • Be more assertive & strong

It’s so overwhelming to know that you’re reading this blog in 64 different countries. This blog began in 2010 as a Wedding blog to help me document our wedding plans… but with everything life has thrown my way since then, it gradually transformed into my lifestyle blog. It’s just nice to know that you’re reading… enjoying… & supporting me.

This morning I received more goodies to review!!! I have been sent the most beautiful travel toiletry set for my hospital bag when I go in to have my baby, from Gilchrist & Soames. Talk about luxury… the bag itself came in a lovely dust bag… I simply love it!!! The set included: Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, Bath Salts, Face Mist, Lip Balm, Body Soap, Face Soap & a Loofah. It’s gorgeous & looks right at home in my hospital bag. You can get free UK delivery with code: FS2015. I also received an Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner. I wear a lot of eye make up on a daily basis & I have to say that Eyeko is my favourite liquid liner brand. If you’re not very good at winged liner… then this is the liner for you! It’s so easy to use… Much easier than a separate wand & pot. The Eyeko Liner is just like a felt pen really & it also holds it shape. It stays put all day too… I always get compliments on my eye liner. Right now you can save 25% on all Eyeko purchases quoting code: NYE25

Talking of discount codes… Top Collar are doing an amazing deal right now where you can try their home baked doggy treats for FREE!!! They use gluten free flour… all fresh ingredients & are great on sensitive tummies! You even get them delivered to your door in a personalised box for your pooch! If you fancy giving them a go simply follow this link: http://www.topcollar.co.uk/#!book-delivery/yqpgz then add code: COCO. My Coco is a very fussy little furbaby & she absolutely adores these biscuits. I’d seriously recommend giving them a go.

So… what are our plans for tonight? Well, we shall be having a lovely snuggly night in. Just me, the hubster & Coco. I have party snacks & yummy nibbles… I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else ❤️ Tomorrow I’m going to be cooking a Christmas Dinner & then at teatime we’ll be heading round to our neighbours for snacks. Nice chilled celebrations for us this year ✨ I’ve put make up on… but I’ll be seeing the New Year in, in my pyjama’s. I had to take this pic to show just how long & thick my hair has become… It’s growing so fast. It must be the pregnancy hormones.

Oooooo… well the postie has just dropped the latest issue of Elle & Elle Decoration through the door… so I think I’m going to go & give those a read!

Enjoy your evening whatever you get up too, thanks so much for reading & continuing to do so &…

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! ✨

 Love & Huggles,

Hayley 😘 xxx

Christmas… Reviews… and Resolutions for 2016

29 Dec

Hi folks ✨

I hope you’ve all had a fantastic Christmas!? We’ve had a lovely family Christmas here. It’s been nice & relaxed… which was just what we needed with how hectic things have been lately. We’re now looking forward to a nice New Years Eve & a fantastical & sparkly New Year to come ✨

Christmas Eve was such a lovely day… It’s also my most favourite day of the year. We spent the day with two of our best friends. We had lunch at The Boat Inn which was beautiful as usual & then we came home for cups of tea… giggles & some gift opening. Oh I also lit my Christmas Eve candle. I buy a one each year 🎄

We decided to be really good this year & not spend too much on each other for Christmas. Purely as we’re putting money aside for our little bundle 💙 But… the hubster was really naughty & still totally spoilt me with a new laptop… laptop bag & Gwen Stefani Urban Decay palette. I think he thought by giving me them before Christmas then they wouldn’t count lol. I still seemed to have loads of gifts though on the day… I felt very spoilt! 🎁

It’s funny, even though I’m obviously not drinking alcohol with being pregnant… people are still buying me sparkles & vino lol. So it’s pretty much safe to say that I’ll be fully stocked for next Christmas! 🍾

Our laid back Christmas day began with Christmas Tree crumpets & orange juice. I don’t know about about you  but I can never be bothered to make a full on English Breakfast on Christmas morning. Crumpets are always a good quick breakfast. For New Years Day I have French Pastries in the freezer ready to be baked fresh. Mmmmm yummy!

Our Christmas Dinner was traditional apart from the fact I did a Chicken rather than a Turkey. I also did homemade piggies in blankies, roast potatoes, root mash, sprouts, broccoli, yorkshire puddings, roast parsnips & petite pois. Oh & sage & onion with pork sausage meat stuffing balls… It was so yummy. But wowzers we were stuffed. I think Christmas Dinner is most definitely my most favourite meal of the year. I never thought I’d be able to make a Christmas Dinner as nice as my Mam’s… but I think I could give her a run for her money these days. Even Coco had herself a little mini Christmas Dinner. Eeeeeck… we’ll have our gorgeous little boy joining us for dinner next year. I just cannot wait. I feel so lucky knowing that our little family is growing 💙

Boxing day was sooooo lazy. We stayed in our PJs… watched films… ate yummy food… It was a much needed relaxing day. I also managed to use up the leftover chicken in fajitas… I washed my fajitas down with sugar free cranberry juice.

Being so lazy all day meant that we had plenty energy saved up for a spot of shopping on Sunday. We headed to a local retail park. We went along with every intention of treating ourselves… but we ended up just buying things for our little Prince 💙 We’ve bought him lot of things ready for his little vacation to next Years Winter Wonderland at Sherwood Forest. There’s just so much cute clothing out there… It’s hard to stop buying!

Monday – we headed into town to spend our gift cards & treat ourselves. I got 3 bottles of perfume: 100ml DKNY, 50ml Vera Wang & an Estee Lauder gift set… I love having new perfumes to add to my collection.

When we got home I started to sort out Baby T’s little reading corner in his nursery. A lot of the books are my own books from when I was little. They’re all in pristine condition. It’s going to be so nice reading him the stories I loved having read to me as a child. I’ve also made a list of must have books I need to buy him. I really want literacy to be something he is very confident with. I’ve always been good with English as a subject & I really believe it’s all down to being read too, then reading myself from a very young age.

Today marks being 27 weeks pregnant. So exciting 💙 I’ve spent this morning filling in our new family organiser & sorting out our menu’s for the next 4 weeks. One of my New Year Resolutions is to carry on my healthy eating & cooking as many things from scratch. I want to remain healthy & then to lose my baby weight gain once Baby T is here. So far I have gained 11lbs. My midwife seems really happy with that. I can still fit into my size 14 & size 16 clothes so I’m happy. But I definitely want to be back into my size 12 dresses as soon as possible. I seem more focused when I’m organised & have set goals to work toward.

I have lots of reviews coming up. On 23rd December… Coco received a lovely Bark Beats Christmas box. So keep your peepers peeled for her review coming up very soon.

Also that day, I received some Benefit goodies & Caudalie goodies to review. I’ve received so much lately. I’ll be doing a full review asap!!!

Well I’m gonna leave this post here & I’m going to do some more travel system research. Me & the hubster are off to test out & try lots of different systems this Saturday & hopefully we’ll find the perfect set of wheels for the little Prince 💙 Then… we need to by us some new wheels too in the shape of a family car. Oooooo… Exciting!

Thanks again for reading ✨

Hark the Herald Angels Sing

21 Dec

Hi Folks ✨

Today is mine & the hubsters 4th Wedding Anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been 4 year since I walked down the aisle to “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”. But then again in some ways it seems longer… Purely because of everything we’ve had to deal with since we got married.

During the last 4 years… I’ve undergone 6 surgeries & my hubster has been there by my side during every single one. He’s been amazing during my recovery. He’s also been there & supported me during my weightloss journey too. When he met me I was a UK size 10… when he married me I was a UK size 24… I got down to a UK size 12… & now I’m pregnant I’m a bump-a-licious size 14/16. So he’s literally loved me at every size. I have no doubt he’ll be there for me when I’m losing my baby weight. We’ve been though a lot… but it’s made us even more close. I’m just so excited to start our new chapter with our little boy 💙

Even at 26wks pregnant I’m lighter & thinner than I was on my hen party!

I never in a million years thought we’d be in the position to be getting ready to have our little boy. With the size I had become then with my last 3 operations… I just thought it was going to be an impossible dream to achieve. I just feel so lucky 🍀

The hubster had to work today… so I had a quiet day at home with Coco. She was super excited when a package arrived for her from Top CollarTop Collar are a fantastic company who bake fresh, healthy dog treats. Coco will be passing on her thoughts to me so I can write a full review of their yummy treats. But on first impressions… Coco seemed well impressed… & she’s one hard pooch to please!

One mini victory achieved today… I ate cereal! Since becoming pregnant I’ve really not fancied cereal at all… but this morning I had some Alpen granola & really enjoyed it. I’m glad as you can’t beat cereal for a simple hassle free breakfast.

I also tried my new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani make up palette this morning too. I absolutely love it!!! I used Pop & Blackout as my chosen shades. I have Naked 1,2 & 3 along with Naked Smoky… I have to say that this one is by far my favourite. Priced at £40 it’s such a good buy… 15 shades for this price. There’s no fall out from the shadows & the longevity of the shadow is fantastic. I can’t believe the hubster surprised me with this gift.

More work has been done tonight on my up & coming website! It’s starting to look really good… I’m so happy with it. You’ll be able to find it at: www.hayleythorne.co.uk once it goes live. For now that link will just direct you straight back to this blog. Eeeeeck it’s a bit exciting. For now, if anyone would like to contact me about reviews you can contact me via: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or email me at: IxxyPoco@gmail.com The website will feature all of my social channels & I’ll be hosting reviews on their too… along with this blog. So everything will be in one place altogether making it a lot more neat & tidy.

So… for our first Wedding Anniversary spent at home we’ve opted for a snuggly date night with Dominoes Pizza & I’m on the pink lemonade since I can’t drink proper sparkles. Normally we’d be going away for a night or two to celebrate… But decided that this year we’d stay at home with me being up & down with pregnancy related sickness & now also with Coco recovering from her operation.

Coco was sent a gorgeous little gift off Rachel who works with my hubster… a gorgeous little peach knit scarf. I had to open it as Coco started to nibble through the paper… she blatantly knew it was for her. She looks so gorgeous in it all wrapped up. Thank you so much Rachel!!!

Well… I’m gonna leave this post right there.

Thanks again for reading!

Festive Fun with Friends

20 Dec

Hi Folks ✨

Sunday once again… I do love a slow paced relaxing Sunday. I’m feeling thoroughly Christmassy… Not that I wasn’t already, but, since we had such a fun, festive Saturday – I’m now feeling feeling ‘super’ Christmassy!

I’m sat blogging from my dinning table & I can smell our fresh Christmas centre piece arrangement… it smells so nice. It’s really putting me a fantastical mood. We also bought some little snowmen on sticks from the florists yesterday to pop into our house plants in case they were feeling left out with not being all dressed for Christmas 🎄

Yesterday evening we had friends over for a catch up. We headed into the Village for a stunning Indian Meal. I really meant to take lots of pics of the yummy food, but we got chatting & laughing  & it completely slipped my mind. So I’m sorry I have no pics to share. After a gorgeous meal, we headed back to our home for more chatting. I drank sparkling water all night with one glass of cranberry juice… I actually felt really giddy & tipsy! I think I was having such a lovely time I got caught up in the Christmas spirit. See… who says you need alcohol to have a good time. Not drinking really doesn’t phase me at all. I didn’t drink at all during all of my surgeries, so this time round I just see it as a happier reason not to be drinking. Having said that… I do have some gorgeous Moet waiting in the pantry for me when our little Prince arrives. That shall be my little tipple of choice when I feel I want to celebrate his arrival 💙

This morning I sorted out our menu for the coming week… lol… it’s so not a healthy one! Tomorrow is our 4th Wedding Anniversary. Normally we either go away for the weekend to celebrate or we go for a lovely meal somewhere… but as the hubster doesn’t finish work until 23rd Dec for Christmas, then with Coco recovering from surgery & with me being up & down with sickness… we made the executive decision to celebrate at home for a change. So… It’s gonna be some kind of naughty take out for tea & for pudding we’ll be cutting our Christmas cake which was lovingly made by my Mammy. Wednesday evening shall be party table snacks as we’re having our neighbours over for a festive drinkie. Christmas Eve will be spent with our best friends for a meal at lunchtime followed party food in the evening & copious amounts of pink lemonade & Christmas films! Then Christmas Day will be a day of consuming homemade Christmas Dinner followed by lots of chocolate lol. Eeeeeck! I just can’t wait!!! ✨

Ooooo… Today I’ve started using my first item that The Journal Shop kindly sent me. I’m using my small Un Jour De Reve notebook from the Iconic range. It’s a gorgeous little book that is stitch bound down the spine. It’s a great price at £2.95.  I’m using mine to keep track of the items I’m sent for reviews. It’s the perfect size to fit in your handbag. It’s so light meaning it won’t be a chore to carry around. In fact, it’s so slim & lightweight that it’ll fit quite nicely in the inner zip pocket you tend to find in most hand bags. It’d be great for making your shopping lists in! I love the little cute rabbit design too. The paper itself is very good quality. I like writing in liquid gel ink & sometimes you find with a low quality paper that a black ink will come through the pages which I utterly hate! But there’s no chance of that happening in this little beauty! It also comes in 4 different designed covers… so you can choose the one that most suits you. Or… at £2.95… why not buy all 4!? I’ve also been using my Iconic Sticky Book too. Priced at only £4.95… This is another little bargain. It’s so slim & lightweight that it’ll fit inside the front pocket on my personal Filofax. So it’ll fit comfortably in any A5 organiser. There are 3 different sized sticky notes – great for little reminders or tabbing up pages making them easy to access during meetings when you need to find facts & figures fast. This book is also from the Iconic range & my book is the ‘Antique’ design cover… but there are 9 designs to choose from. This is another item I can thoroughly recommend. When you’re working between two sites like I do – everything needs to be ‘travel’ friendly… I hate having to lug around a heavy bag. So both these little stationary items are brilliant for on the move as they’ll tuck away neatly & won’t add any extra weight. I’m going to use my Un Jour De Reve medium notebook this week… I have some little ideas of what I’ll use it for… so stay tuned for a little breakdown & review of that. I LOVE this stationary!!! It’s just such good quality & well… It looks & feels fancy. I work in a University library… so I can be a bit snobby with how a book is put together & I have to say… I love a stitch bound book. Now… does that sound sad!? Lol.

After a lovely slow relaxing morning it was time to get a bubble bath. I’m making the most of my bubble baths right now as I’m sure it won’t be long until I’m finding it difficult to get in & out of the bath & will have to make do with just a shower. I decided to use some festive bubbles from Avon… But opened a new bottle of Molton Brown for my ‘wash bubbles’. I love this scent – Black Peppercorn… It’s my favourite Molton Brown fragrance 🛀🏻

There’s nothing nicer than a lovely soak in the tub ✨

This afternoon had been spent watching Star Wars

There’s nothing cosier than snuggling on the sofa on a wintry day watching films ❤️

Tomorrow marks our 4th Wedding Anniversary & I simply couldn’t be happier. We’ve been spoilt with gifts as usual. The hubster surprised me with the new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette – so there’ll be a full review of that coming up!!! My parents buy us Champagne & Truffles every year, so even though I can’t drink it right now – they didn’t want to break tradition.

So… What a gorgeous little Sunday today has been! I’m off now to watch another Star Wars film lol ✨

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday & thanks for reading 💕

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx
