Out and About with Versatrax

26 Jul

Hi folks,

We’ve had such lovely weather for the last few days… I really do hope that this is it now… Summer has finally landed!?

I can’t believe that Seth has completed his first full term of pre-school. I’m so glad that we decided to take early intake with him rather than waiting until September. He has come on so much & his development has been amazing in the last few month.

I love that each day he gets excited for his walk to school with Mammy & Baby Ted. It’s one of the first things he says when he wakes up. Driving whilst doing the school run is so not enjoyable. Parking is a nightmare! We walk too & from school everyday. I think it’s good for kids to walk & to get out in the fresh air, rather than bundled in to a car all of the time. We’re very lucky in that our school is only a very short walk away. It only takes us 10-15mins to get there… depending on how slowly Seth wants to walk lol.

Ted just loves being out & about in a buggy too. We’ve just received the Joie Versatrax. It is absolutely gorgeous.

With Joie you always know you’re going to get safety & quality. But the Versatrax isn’t just reliable & safe… it also has that ‘fancy feel’. It has lots of added little extras that just make it all the more luxurious. The tan leather trims & cup holder – really finish this travel system off perfectly.

I love that this is a sturdy travel system, yet folds so compact. It literally folds down in half. Also, there’s no back breaking manoeuvres or fancy footwork needed to collapse this pram. It’s so simple & quick. I am quite literally the most clumsy person I know, & even I have mastered this easy procedure. A click of the safety switch & you’re pretty much done!

Once folded this pram will stand freely. So it’s perfect if you’re short on space. Also, you won’t need to prop it against your hallway wall. There’s nothing worse than a pram or buggy that doesn’t free stand & has to be propped against your cream walls. It’s also great for if you’re in a restaurant etc… you can fold it & stand it out of the way with ease.

I love that this pram gives you the option of forward or rear facing. Ted is 8 month now & loves to be nosy & look at what’s going on. However, he is teething & it’s been making him a bit upset. Sometimes he likes to rear face when he’s feeling a little under the weather. So the Versatrax gives us that option. It’s so simple to unclip & turn round.

Like all Joie products… the Versatrax is super comfy. We’ve had no complaints from Ted. The seat is comfy & has a nice soft feel. No sharp edges or corners. Everything is finished off beautifully. The seat will fully recline & has a soft touch harness. There’s also calf/leg support too. So your little one can really kick back & relax.

The Versatrax handles beautifully. The push bar is comfy to hold & has a one handed push. Now you all know that one handed push is a big requirement for me. I need to be able to push the pram/buggy with one hand while I’m holding Seth’s hand too. We have 2 busy roads to get across on our school run. So need to have hands available. Also, I’ve been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist/hand. Vibrations can really trigger the pain. The Versatrax has lovely foam filled rubber tyres making it a smooth ride for your little one & a comfy one for you while pushing it. There’s hardly no vibration.

There’s also a really big storage basket on the bottom & is very easy to access. A big basket is a must for us, as I just seem to have so much stuff with me all of the time lol.

Here is a list of the features:

  • Suitable from birth with flat reclining seat
  • Adjustable forward and rearward facing seat
  • Pairs perfectly with Joie infant carriers gemm™, i-Gemm™, i-Level™, and i-Snug™ with the included adapters or with other infant carriers using Maxi-Cosi® style attachment
  • Pairs perfectly with ramble™ XL carry cot using the included adapters
  • One hand easy fold and setup, with seat rearward or forward facing
  • Freestanding when folded
  • Carry strap built in
  • Water repellant canopy
  • Full-size UPF50+ canopy with eyeshade visor
  • Multi-position recline for backrest tilt options
  • 2 position calf support
  • Front and back access storage basket
  • All wheel suspension for a smooth ride
  • Sweet Stride™ single front swivel wheels
  • One touch brakes
  • SoftTouch, 5-point harness
  • Height adjustable pushbar
  • Locking front swivel wheels
  • Cup holder

This really is a fantastic travel system. If you’re looking for a travel system that you can rely on, look fancy, is great on space & easy to use… then this is the one for you. Travel systems have a reputation for being big & bulky. But this certainly isn’t like that. It’s sturdy, lightweight, easy to use & folds very compact. It really is perfect for everyday family life! It’s going to be great for travel too as it doesn’t take up much space in the car! So look out for my review on how it is on holidays!

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you’ve found this review helpful!

Holidays… Breaks… Vacations… Travel

4 Mar

Hi folks,

Is it just me or does travelling abroad as a parent sometimes fill you with sheer dread? We’re planning a little European vacation this summer to Germany. I’m already trying to think like a million steps ahead… what do I pack!? Toys, formula, buggy, nappies, wipes, calpol… blah blah blah. I mean… do I even have luggage big enough!? What I wouldn’t give to have a private plane lol.

Then there’s the travel insurance. While I was pregnant, with both Seth & Ted, we holidayed in the UK. We always just purchase the travel insurance through the company we’re booking with. To be honest… I was always to scared too about travelling abroad whilst pregnant. So much so that we cancelled our trip to Sweden & Denmark whilst I was pregnant with Seth. Now looking back… I wish we’d not cancelled. But I mean… what is the advice? What are the guidelines whilst pregnant!? Well, the fabulous folk over at Columbus Direct have put this statement together:

Stuart Lloyd, travel insurance expert at Columbus Direct comments:

“Like Meghan & Harry, many parents-to-be will be looking to travel whilst pregnant but perhaps are unsure if it’s safe.

“If you’ve had a straightforward pregnancy, you should be safe to fly up to 28 weeks as normal. Beyond 28 weeks there are other considerations including whether you’ve had an uncomplicated pregnancy, the specific airline you’re flying with, as well as your insurance policy.

“Most airlines will require a “Fit to Fly” medical certificate from your GP beyond 28 weeks and the majority of airlines will not allow you to travel beyond 37 weeks for a single pregnancy, and beyond 32 weeks for a multiple pregnancy. Our advice is to always check with your airline as many have their own guidelines and you don’t want to be caught out.

“Before travelling, ensure you’ve not only bought travel insurance but have also checked the policy terms to see what is required of you and what you are covered for when travelling whilst pregnant in the event that you need to make a claim.

“Always consult your midwife or visit the NHS website for any medical related questions.”

I wish I’d read this statement back in 2016. But, I’ll just have to book Denmark & Sweden for the future!

Thank you as always for reading!

18 Jul

Hi folks,

Wow… so today I hit the 25wk mark… I just cannot believe how quickly this pregnancy is flying by. With only 15wks left – I’ve gone into full on nesting mode.

The babies nursery is starting to take shape… when I say take shape… I mean it’s full of boxes & paint tins. But… we have everything for his nursery sorted at least. We just need to paint & build furniture. I’ve also got all of his bottles & steriliser etc… After a bit of a traumatic start to my Mammy Life when Seth was born… I’ve made the decision to exclusively formula feed. I have to reiterate that this is my own decision. Purely as for me & my family – this is the best decision for us. I am in no way against breastfeeding, it’s just something that isn’t for me. I tried my very best with Seth & my body was not playing ball & wasn’t producing what he needed. After a hospital stay & discussions with experts… formula was the way for us.

With Seth, we exclusively used MAM UK bottles, soothers & steriliser… so it was a no brainer to use this fantastic brand again. In fact, Seth still goes to bed every night with his favourite MAM UK glow in the dark soother or “Soo Soo” as he calls it. The great thing about the glow in the dark ones is that if he wakes up without it – he can find it in his little bed easily.

So… why do we choose MAM UK? Well firstly… the fact the bottles come completely apart is just brilliant for cleaning. The bottoms & tops completely unscrew unlike a lot of traditional fixed bottom bottles. So you can give them a really good soak before popping them in your steriliser. With Seth we only had the microwave steam steriliser. This time round we have got the Electric Steriliser & Bottle Warmer. I already love this product & I’ve not even used it yet lol. The microwave steriliser fits in my microwave fine, but when Seth was 9month old we went on holiday to Center Parcs & the steriliser wouldn’t fit in the microwave. Now luckily, all the MAM bottles are self sterilising, so we just sterilised them individually. But with the electric steriliser we can either use the microwave or use it with the warmer. Which is great since we will be going to Center Parcs in December when the baby is around 8wks old. So… what’s in the box:

1x Electric Steriliser

1x Express Warmer

2x 160ml Easy Start Anti Colic Bottle

2x Start 0-2M Soothers

1x Teat Tongs

(Only 1 electric base unit included and needed for Steriliser & Warmer)

6 functions in 1 device

1. Microwave sterilising

2. Electric sterilising

3. Express bottle warming

4. Gentle bottle warming

5. Defrost & food warming

6. Keep warm function

Key features:

• Compact design that saves on kitchen space

• Electric and microwave steam sterilising possible

• The MAM Steriliser & Bottle Warmer includes 2x Easy Start Anti colic bottles, 2x Start 0-2M Soothers a small pair of tongs to assemble the clean bottles

• Gentle or fast warming: perfect for breastmilk and formula

• Extremely fast warming of milk in just 2 minutes 30 seconds

• Extremely fast defrosting of milk in just 10 minutes and just one setting.

• Safety auto turn off feature

Such a fab buy!!! If you’re looking for a good baby shower gift… look no further! I love the gender neutral silver grey colour too. It’s so funny, coz we’re actually decorating his room with pale grey & white. So even his bottles will match lol.

We’ve still so much to sort out before our little bundle of joy arrives, but having all of his bottles, steriliser, etc… is something we can most definitely tick off our list!

Don’t forget that MAM UK run lots of promotions & announce new products via their social media pages! So… go give them a like & a follow!

Thanks for reading & I hope you’ve found this review useful & please look out for more reviews of these lovely products when Little T arrives.

Pregnant Life

29 Apr

Hi Folks,

April has been such a busy month. In fact it has been a wee while since my last blog post. But this month just seems to have zoomed by so fast!

We seem to have packed a LOT into just 30 days… Seth went to his first birthday party which was unicorn themed. His little face was amazing – he adored everything about it. The bouncy castle, the pink lighting, dancing on the stage… just everything!

We also had an amazing day out to The Yorkshire Wildlife Park for their Alice in Wonderland event. It was really cold & windy, but we just wrapped up warm. We even managed to have our picnic outside too.

This month has seen some amazingly warm sunny weather too. It was so nice to be able to get out into the garden. We enjoyed it while it lasted. We had homemade picnic platters & played in the ball pool. Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the best memories.

I was also admitted to hospital too. I just couldn’t believe it. Being pregnant whilst having a toddler is such a different experience to the last time I was pregnant. Everything is harder as I’m not my own priority anymore – Seth is. We don’t have family around us where we live, so I can’t just scoot off to Hospital. I need to make sure Seth has someone to look after him. So, my hubster stayed with Seth until my parents made the 2hr drive to us. It was kinda scary being in hospital on my own. I mean I’ve been in hospital on my own before, but the beginning part while you’re sat around on the ward waiting to have tests I’ve always had Graham with me to hold my hand. Don’t worry – baby is totally fine. We’ve named the baby ‘Little T’ until he or she arrives. I’ve got red degeneration of my fibroids. I suffered with this throughout my pregnancy with Seth. Even though I’m in pain – it’s reassuring to know exactly what it is. But I do just feel constantly exhausted at this stage. We got to see Little T for the first time last week. I’m coming up to 14wks… I just cannot believe how fast this pregnancy is going. I felt like I was pregnant with Seth for like a year or something lol.

I also got to meet my consultant this week as I’m being consultant led again being a high risk pregnancy. I was pleased to find out that it was the same consultant who actually delivered Seth. So that is just amazing as I’ll be having a planned c- section again so the same lady will be delivering Little T.

We’ve made the decision to stay Team Green during this pregnancy – we’re not finding out the Baby’s Gender. I’m actually quite excited to have a gorgeous surprise when Little T arrives. I’ve been pushed back one day, so Little T’s due date is 31st October. I’ve also made the decision to have my Fallopian tubes removed during my c-section. Purely because we definitely only want 2 children & because I’m generally quite poorly during pregnancy. We’ve been moving furniture around in our bedroom to make room for the SnüzPod. So that means I got to move my dressing table & make it all pretty in a new location. I do love an organised make up station… I’m so sad lol. I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest looking at nursery decor ideas. We’ve gone for White, Pale Grey & Silver. I can’t wait to start decorating. Then when Little arrives I can buy either pink or blue bunting with his or her name on as a finishing touch. Eeeeeck… it’s just too exciting! We’ve already got the cotbed which is Obaby & from Precious Little Ones.

May is looking to be a VERY busy month too… it’s my birthday in May, it’s the hubsters birthday in May, we have 2 Bank Holidays & we have a holiday coming up too, to Haven. I’ve never been to a Haven site before. I’m super excited – it looks perfect for Seth. We normally holiday in Center Parcs… but wanted to see what Haven was like. We’ve got a Center Parcs holiday come up in August. Then, Christmas week we’ll be going again, but this time we’ll have our new addition with us. I’m so excited! I have some lovely reviews coming up all about the Traditional Toy Box Company & Nuby. I promise I’ll be blogging more this month… my sickness is starting to get better & I just need to get back to my organised routine. Thanks so much as always for reading! Love & Huggles,Hayley xxx

My Baby Wishlist

14 Mar

Hi folks,

By now you all know that we’re expecting our second bundle joy in October. I’m just so super excited it’s unreal!

Being the organised soul that I am, I’ve already started my list of essential items. You can expect lots of reviews over the coming months!

When Seth was born I struggled with breast feeding. The C-Section delayed my milk supply & Seth lost 14% of his body weight in the first week. I think the shock hit me hard & I instantly felt guilty like I’d failed him. For us, going over to formula was the right thing to do. Seth took to the transition of bottles so well. I have MAM UK anti-colic bottles to thank for that. So, I shall be using the same bottles for baby number 2.

  1. MAM Electric Steriliser & Bottle Warmer
  2. Easy Start Anti-Colic Bottle Starter Set
  3. NewBorn Soothers
  4. Perfect Night Soother
  5. Soft Cleaning Brush

I didn’t have a bottle warmer for Seth. I was old school & warmed bottles in boiled water. This would be so much easier!!! Night feeds will be so much easier with the aid of the bottle warmer.

The bottle starter set is just such good value for money! The set includes:

Pack Contents:

4 x Easy Start Anti-Colic Bottles 160ml with Slow Flow teats

4 x Easy Start Anti-Colic Bottle Bodies 260ml

1 x Start Soother

1 x Extra Soft Bottle Spout

1 x Hold my Bottle Handles

4 x Sealing discs

MAM UK bottles are our MUST HAVE bottle brand. The fact they come completely apart makes cleaning so much easier & simple.

Sanggol Pregnancy Pillow

Getting comfy in bed when you’re pregnant can be a bit of a nightmare. I have damage to my lower back too & I’ve had surgeries in the past, so I tend to suffer some pain anyway, then with the added strain of pregnancy… things can get a tad uncomfy at times. So what could be better than a full body pillow to give you some much needed support. It’s literally like sleeping in a big hug!

This car seat is so beautiful. Not only is it beautiful though – it’s ‘super safe’. It has an exclusive first ever side impact certification. It also has a lie flat feature too for when you’re out & about… carry cot & car seat all in one. This car seat is also compatible with the Joie pushchair range making it the perfect partner to create a Travel System. And… it comes complete with isofix base!

Seth currently has the Everystage FX Car Seat & it’s superb! We’re big Joie fans in our household. You always know you’re going to get good quality.

Totally in love with this buggy. It’s literally perfect… forward faces… rear faces… suitable from birth… when folded can be transported in trolley mode… single step shoe saver brake… large all terrain tyres… and it looks pretty too! This buggy sounds pretty perfect to me!

British Baby Box

The Adorable Baby Box is a stunning little start up kit. Perfect for safe sleeps. It comes fully assembled with beautiful British made 100% organic cotton which is kind & delicate for babies skin. The Adorable Baby Box includes:

  • British Baby Box with lid/changing mat facility
  • Fitted mattress with attached waterproof mattress cover
  • 100% Organic Cotton Fitted Sheet

We’re off on holiday in December & this would make the most perfect travel cot! Literally perfect!

So… there you have it… that’s My Baby Wishlist… so far anyway!

Thanks as always for reading!

MAM Milestones

16 Jan

Hi folks,

Having a baby is the most amazing & precious gift. You just want to cherish & remember every single moment. When Seth was born I vowed I’d take as many photographs as possible & that I’d actually print them out or I’d have Photobooks made… so I could look back in years to come & be transported back to that moment in time. Making memories is so important.

A fantastic way to remember & document all of those important little achievements is using milestone cards. MAM UK have brought out their own milestone cards along with products to match. We received a gorgeous set of the cards with corresponding soothers.

They’re so lovely & there’s even a little box where you can write the date.

Seth was utterly fascinated with the cards… he wanted to read them & point out the pictures on them. I wish I’d had a set for when Seth was first born. But, we are hoping that Seth will have a brother or a sister in the near future… & if we are lucky enough to have another – I’ll most definitely be using these cards for each & every milestone.

The cards themselves would make a lovely little gift for any baby shower, especially with the matching product.

Seth has always been a huge fan of MAM Soothers… they’re literally the only ones he’s ever taken too. He would only ever have MAM bottles too.

Since the very beginning… Seth’s always been a MAM UK fan. It’s so nice when you find a brand you simply adore & trust.

Thank you as always for reading.

MAM UK Goodies

3 Jul

Hi folks

We’ve been out in the lovely sunshine enjoying this amazing weather while it lasts. We’ve had walks to the park, picnics days trips to the seaside & visits to our local wileflife park.

Our new favourite must-have accessory for our picnics & days out is our MAM UK Sports Cup.

The great thing about this sports cup is that it has an anti leak attachment on the inside. It’s just a small silicone attachment which stops the liquid just pouring out of the spout if turned upside down. Something Seth likes to do frequently! So by leaving this attachment on it make it’s spill proof! Fantastic! As your little grows you can remove it. There’s also a handy lid to pop on while it’s in your bag. The sports cup is a great way to transition from a sippy cup.

The bottle tapers in at the middle making it easy for little hands to hold.

We’ve used this bottle so many times whilst being out & about. Seth has found it really easy to use.

Clean the bottle is so easy to clean & even easier with the MAM UK Soft Brush. The brush has a ‘teat’ brush on the end which is obviously great for baby bottles but also great for cleaning the spout on the sports cup. The flexible soft bristles also makes this brush non-scratch. It’s utterly fab. I wish I’d had this brush when Seth was still on bottles, we had a different band of bottle brush & it’s not half as good as this one. This soft brush would’ve made cleaning bottles so much easier.

I have added the links into this blog post of the products mentioned which will take you directly to the MAM UK online shop. Right now there are lots of discounts & offers on various products to suit all ages. Go check them out!

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you’ve found this review useful!

Being a Glammy Mammy to Be

15 Feb

Hi folks ✨

I hope you’ve all had an amazing Valentines weekend ❤️

Over this last week I’ve been out & about wearing my stunning maternity dresses that I was sent from Mothercare.

On Tuesday I went out for tea & cake with a friend to one of my favourite places in the little Village where I live. I decided to wear my Oh Ma! Grey & Navy Knitted Maternity Dress which is priced at £40. This dress is so lovely, comfortable & fits perfectly over my bump. I’m now 33 weeks pregnant & my bump is increasing everyday – I’m already pretty big in the bump department haha.

There are no zips or buttons. So this literally just pulls on which is great. The knit is very generous too. Before becoming pregnant I was a size 12 & now I’m a size 16. The dress I’m wearing is a large. It’s great as it’s roomy & not restricting at all. I’m actually considering taking this into hospital with me & wearing it as my outfit for coming home in. I wore the dress with a pair of black maternity leggings. I love the dress as I felt trendy & glam. I’ve found that some maternity brands can make you feel fat & frumpy. I’d seriously recommend this garment… you could easily dress it up or down with the right make up & jewelry.

The second dress I was sent to try is the Blooming Marvelous Stripped Midi Dress priced at £32. Like the Oh Ma! dress, this dress has no buttons, zips or fastenings. It’s a pull on style of dress. I went for the size 16 & it’s a very generous fit with plenty room to grown into. I wore the dress with a pair of black maternity tights. Yet again – super comfy & I felt really nice & dressed in it. I actually wore this Valentine’s weekend.

I found that the colours & design are super flattering & I even got a few compliments on it. Now a compliment is always very much appreciated when you feel the size of a whale! Again, with the right jewelry, make up & accessories – this dress can easily be dressed up.

The great thing about both dresses are the lengths. ‘Non-maternity’ wear can ride up & make you feel a little exposed. Both dresses are a great length. I’m 5ft 8″ & the lengths are perfect.

Now I just need to get more social events scheduled in so I can show off my lovely dresses!

I was also sent a lovely pale pink Night Dress & Robe Set priced at £30.

I’ve popped these straight into my hospital bag ready to take in with me for when my little bambino arrives. I will give a more in depth review of the robe & nightdress after my hospital stay. But, what I can say is that I love that it’s breast feeding friendly with drop down clip/straps. I have this in a size large – well you want your night wear nice & loose & roomy don’t you. The robe is perfect for hospital as it’s a lovey thin cotton. Anything thicker is just too stiffling for when you’re in hospital as it’s always so hot & stuffy in there.

Last but by no means least… I was also sent the Mamascarf in Navy which is priced at £17.99. Again, my full review will come after my beautiful bambino arrives. I’m super excited to try the Mamascarf as I’ve been a little anxious about the thought of breastfeeding in public. I’m such a clumsy person & the thought of exposing myself in public just fills me with dread. But this beautiful scarf will hopefully protect my modesty. So please keep your peepers peeled for that!

Well, once again – I hope you’ve found this review useful & thanks so much for reading!

Lunch Dates and new Arm Candy

6 Feb

Hi folks ✨

I’ve actually had a busy few days socialising… Check me out being a social butterfly ✨

I had such a lovely Friday 💙 I went out for lunch to The Pastures with my friend Carolyn & her lovely little girl Alexa. We had lovely food… Lots of gossiping… Truck loads of tea & a not very healthy Ciabatta & Wedges

Baby T was spoilt by Auntie Carolyn who had bought him some super cute clothes & another book for his reading corner ✨

The Pastures is such a great place to have food, especially with little ones as their just so child friendly. Alexa had a whale of a time in Ali Bongo’s. So much so that once we got back to our house, she fell asleep in front of Nick Jnr lol.

It was so nice to get out for a while other than when I’m headed to the hospital for maternity appointments. Although, finding nice things to wear is becoming increasingly difficult lol… I’m literally getting bigger by the day 💙

While I was getting ready that morning, I found my Pandora Rhodinite necklace that I’d totally forgotten about. So I decided to wear it as I’ve probably not worn it in like over a year now.

The hubster’s Bezzie, David, is staying with us this weekend. So I decided to make a bit of a Mexican feast for our supper last night. The chilli was über healthy as I made it all from scratch in the crock pot. But… Then I decided to make nachos… Not so healthy lol. I live my new bowls from Asda… Only £2 each! Utter bargain. I actually ordered them in white, but they sent the red ones instead as the white had sold out. I think I actually like these ones better✨

It was mega yummy… Even if I do say so myself lol 😋

Today we had a little jolly to Barnsely to collect my new specs from the opticians. I got a beautiful dark purple pair from Solitaire & a black pair from ZigZag

 This is my ZigZag pair.

Afterwards we headed to The Pastures for lunch lol… The Pastures is fast becoming my new fave place to eat. I feel like I’ve been there loads lately! We’re also off out for a meal tonight too. This time we’re headed into our little beautiful village for an Indian meal. So right now we’re just drinking tea & watching Maze Runner.

Me & the hubster are using our new mugs that we got for Valentines Day off of my Bezzie – she’s such a sweetie ❤️… Well sometimes lol 😘

I decided to paint my nails too since I had red chipped nails 🙈 when my varnish starts to chip it really makes me feel funny

I love the Avon Pro Wear nail varnish. This is Orchid Splash. I bought this while it was on offer for just £2!!! Such a bargain!!!

My new tote from Cath Kidston arrived this week. Can’t believe I got this £32 instead of £75.

I’m simply in love 💙 I’m going to save it though for when I go into hospital to have my little poppet. I’m going to put his little outfits in it. I’ve been using my brown leather & leopard print bag from Joules this week. I had been using my black & white leather Pied a Terre bag, but I like to rotate my bags so none of my handbags feel left out lol. Yep… I’m just that odd lol. I love keeping my bags all nice & snug in their dust bags when I’m not using them.

So… that’s my little update on what I’ve been up too. I’m currently trying out a new daily moisturiser from Blue Mandarines – so I’ll be writing a review on that very soon! Oh & don’t forget about my new website: www.hayleythorne.co.uk 💕

Thanks for reading & hope you’re all having a lovely weekend ✨

MOTs and Meaningful Moments

31 Jan

Hi folks ✨

I hope you all had a great Saturday yesterday. We went on a jolly to Barnsley. I decided it was about time to treat myself to some new spectacles. I never ever wear my glasses… well… only when I’m ill. I’m a dedicated contact lens wearer. But since becoming pregnant, I’ve found that I cannot tolerate them all day like I once could. I don’t know if my eye’s are more dry or if it’s because I’m tired from not sleeping. Whatever the reason… I’m finding that I’m wearing my glasses like at least 4 days out of 7 a week. I really despise my glasses… I’ve had them for such a long time & I think I’m just bored of them. Plus, I have mega bad eyesight, so I need ultra thin lenses too.

My hubser is a glasses wearer & he suits them so much. So… I decided to bite the bullet & go get a spectacle makeover. We went to iVision in Barnsley & they were utterly suberb! The staff are so nice & friendly. I think I’ve most definitely found my new opticians. I’ve never really had an opticians in Doncaster… It’s so naughty but I just buy my contact lenses  & never bother with eye tests etc… Such a bad habit of mine… I’m a very “if it’s not broken don’t fix it” kinda person. But now I’m going to be a Mammy, I need to practice the mantra orfpreservation & staying in tip top health. My little boy needs a strong healthy Mammy 💙You know I lost all that weight to be healthy inside… so I need to extend that to all aspects of my being.

Since becoming pregnant I feel as though I’ve had such a massive MOT. I’ve registered with a new Dentist in my Village who is amazing & my teeth are in tip top shape. I’ve had every test going on my glucose levels, cholesterol & heart, & because of the weight-loss – everything is spot on. Now I’ve had my eyes checked & tested & they’re actually slightly better. So I’m very happy with my Mammy MOT. Oh & you’ll have to wait until next week for some speccy selfies as my lenses needed to be ordered in to stock… coz I’m special lol. I can’t even remember the makes I’ve ordered. But they are both beautiful… One pair is Black & White & the other is Purple.

It was hail stoning in Barnsley yesterday which is like the closest thing to snow in my eyes… so I was pretty excited with that. Since we didn’t have to wait around while my glasses were made, we headed back to Donny for lunch. We headed straight to the Mallard in the Frenchgate Centre. I was such a hungry Piglet that I forgot to take a pic of my food!!! 🐽 I literally just hoovered up my Piri Piri Fajitas. After lunch & 2 glasses of sugar free lemonade – we headed to Accessorize for a bobble – Graham thought that was hilarious… That we went ‘bobble’ shopping. I ended up buying some little grippy clips – nothing super exciting.

It started snowing pretty much as soon as we got home. Where we live is much higher than the town centre, so the wind chill is way worse here. The snow didn’t last though unfortunately ❄️ I also had a parcel waiting for me too from W7. They sent me a lovely little bundle of things to try & review

  • Argan Eyes Mascara in Black
  • Big Blusher/Powder Brush
  • Chunky Lips Crayon in Spontaneous
  • Honolulu Bronzing Powder

I’ll be reviewing those products as soon as possible 💄

I’ve also ordered me & Baby T (yes… it was totally an essential purchase for the baby… lol) the Kingswood Rose Big Leather Trim Tote. I wanted it for hospital & to match Baby T’s diaper bag for when we’re out & about. Plus, it was an uber bargain being reduced down from £75 to £32. I love Cath Kidston… her products are such good quality & totally timeless too. My brown Michel Kors purse won’t really match it, but I have a lovely baby pink Jasper Conran purse that will match it perfectly. I do love it when a winning combo comes together lol ✨

My purse was also a bargain as it was in the sale… But also had a glue mark on the front. So I haggled a little… The RRP was like £80 or something. The sale price was £38 but we paid a mere £18.50. Haggling for  a good bargain used to scare me… but if you’re nice & polite & have a legitimate reason – whats the harm. They can only say no.

Hey presto… the glue came off the soft leather with a good old Johnsons Baby Wipe.

I so love a bargain. You all know that I love a bit of glamour… But I love it more when it’s at a cheap affordable rate. Being a first time Mammy to Be – we’ve had a LOT of expense getting everything ready for the little Prince’s arrival 💙… so bargains are much needed in the glam & beauty department for Mammy & Daddy lol.

Being married to my best friend, soul mate & lover is the most amazing thing in the world ❤️ All of my surgeries brought us closer too… I didn’t think we could be anymore close. But now we have this little miracle growing… I just feel so overwhelmed with love, connection & adoration. We’ve shared some amazing meaningful moments over the 11 years of knowing one another, but now we seem to be more in tune with each other more than ever. Romance seems to be occurring all of the time in the teeniest of situations. I was never one of these girls who from being little wanted a baby. I’ve watched friends & family become parents & it’s never really bothered me. But one day it just clicked… I looked at my hubster & thought “yep… I want your babies”. Sounds soppy I know – but that’s how it happened. It’s only taken us 5 years to achieve that dream & I couldn’t feel more blessed. This journey is something I will never ever take for granted 💙

Righteo… well I shall leave this bloggy post right here.

Have a superb Sunday & thanks for reading. It’s lovely seeing new countries popping up on my stats ✨

Love & Huggles,
