Making Memories

20 May

Hi folks,

I love the month of May. Spring is everywhere & everything looks so beautiful… the weather is on the turn to sunnier times & it’s also mine & the hubsters Birthday month.

We always try to do something nice for our birthdays as they’re only 4 days apart. But when you have little ones in tow… plans have to change & adapt. This year we had the most amazing little break in the Yorkshire Dales in a stunning Georgian Cottage.

So… first of all… let me tell you about this simply beautiful cottage. Green Cottage is an elegant Georgian Cottage set on the green of one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque villages. It’s an ideal base to explore the Dales in any season. And… it’s 100% Family-friendly… that includes doggies too. A dog bed & bowl can be provided if needed. Our Coco is such a little diva though & likes her own little comforts – so we took her fave bed & mini food & water bowl… most dog bowls are big enough for her to bathe in lol.

The space itself:

The house is fully detached and set over three floors. Don’t worry thoughif you have little ones, then baby gates can be provided. Seth is 3 & Ted is 6 month so we very much need baby gates on the stairsso this was fab for us. They were already installed too!

Lower Ground Floor

  • Kitchen diner (featuring an extendable table to seat up to 6 guests and fully equipped with Rangemaster cooker, dishwasher, fridge with freezer shelf and microwave along with plenty of good quality cooking and baking equipment, glasses, crockery etc). Honestly…the kitchen has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Even down to the colourful plastic kids crockery from IKEA that we all know & love & can’t live without! We ate in both nights… did ‘snacky food & we had sparkles… obvs

  • Utility room (with washer-dryer, iron and ironing board and a drying space for muddy boots and outdoor gear)There’s great tray there to stand your dirty shoes in there’s a radiator right underneath the coat rail too – so if you’ve gotten a little damp – everything will dry off.

  • Bathroom (with spa whirlpool bath, and toasty underfloor heating). The bath is utterly divine! I had visions of having an uninterrupted bubble bath with a glass of sparkles… but of course that lasted all of 5 minutes until Seth came bounding in lol. But that’s Mama Life for you!

Ground Floor

  • Living room (sofas to comfortably seat 5, log burner, digital Smart TV with Freeview, BBC iPlayer etc as well as lots of books, maps and games) we took our amazon fire stick with us & connected it to the WiFi. So we were able to watch Disney Life, Netflix & Prime. Please note that the play pen in the living room is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • Snug / third bedroom (large day bed which can be made up into full size single bed, second TV, desk)

  • Shower room (walk in monsoon shower with extra large enclosure, heated towel rail) There is also a toilet. It’s fab as there is literally a toilet on each floor. Essential for toilet training! Seth is totally dry now, but we’re still only in our first month of toilet training… so a toilet on hand is utterly essential lol.

First floor

  • Master bedroom (king size bed with deep, comfortable mattress, large wardrobe and antique dressing table) oodles of spaceLoads of room for a travel cot. A travel cot can be provided too if you don’t want to take one.

  • Twin bedroom (two full size single beds with pocket sprung mattresses, chest of drawers and clothes rail) a waterproof mattress cover can be provided too! Perfect! Please note that the bed guard rail is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • WC with basin (‘Jack and Jill’ style access from both upstairs bedrooms, ideal for families, or can be set up as en-suite for either bedroom)

Outside

  • Enclosed garden to rear and side, paved and gravel with outside seating, and a charcoal BBQ
  • Bike store (lockable for up to 5 bikes, can also be used as a pram store)
  • Direct access to the village green – a large expanse of grass free for all to stroll, sit or play
  • Play area visible from back gate – swings, slide, football posts etc. We spent quite a lot of time in the little play area. Seth loves a park. There’s also plenty wide open space to run around or to picnic. But, if you take your fur babies… please ensure you scoop that poop! There’s nothing worse than dog poop making the place dirty!

As you can see from above & from my photos… everything is catered for.

The bedding was so comfy!!! Egyptian cotton bed linen on all beds, 13.5 tog thick duvets (hypoallergenic and feather / down) and plenty of soft and fluffy Egyptian cotton towels. As you can see… Ted had to try out the king size bed lol.

There’s a welcome pack with all the basics for your first couple of days (loo rolls, hand soap, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, tea towels and kitchen cleaning supplies) as well as tea, coffee, milk, bread and a few local treats. This was soooo nice!!! It just means that you don’t have to pack a lot of shopping. And it also means that it’s all ready for you to get the kettle straight on when you arrive… coz let’s face it… we all need that first brew when we arrive somewhere! Especially when you’ve had to sing Baby Shark & Old McDonald Farm all the way there lol.

Also… when we arrived there was a lovely big box of toys left out for Seth to explore, as well as plenty children’s books. There were even a few laid out on his bed for him. That was such a lovely touch & Seth was super excited!

So as well as a travel cot, baby gates & toys… the owners can provide a highchair – which Ted thought was VERY comfy & there is also a baby monitor. Oh & I did mention the plastic IKEA crockery, but there’s also a MAM Baby Cup too. Just so many little things that have been added to make your break so much easier! This cottage is really like a home from home.

For our furbabies, there is a lovely fluffy blanket provided & the use of a hose pipe outside to wash down those dirty paws.

Okay… so you’ve heard all about the gorgeous cottage… but what did we do while we were there? We investigated Settle. What a stunning little town. Seth particularly enjoyed The House That Jack Built. He got some lovely new Melissa & Doug toys. There are so many gorgeous shops, tea rooms & places to eat, to investigate. There’s also the Watershed Mill. It is absolutely stunning… the scenery is simply breathtaking. We popped there for a little bite to eat over lunch time.

We spent a lot of time playing on the green outside of the cottage & in the little park. We were only there for 2 nights… next time we’ll be booking for a week.

The cottage has a lovely organised folder of leaflets & places to visit etc… so helpful for when you’re planning days out.

This beautiful cottage is simply worth every penny. If you book before August & quote: “IxxyPoco” you will be given an exclusive discount. You can book a year in advance. So use that code before it runs out. Simply head to Green Cottage on AirBnB & send a message to the owners quoting my blog.

Thanks as always for reading & I hope you’ve been inspired to book yourself a lovely break away ❤️

More Crabtree & Evelyn Goodies

13 Jun

Hi folks

Have I got a lovely little review for you. The kind & lovely folk at Crabtree & Evelyn have sent me some lovely goodies from their Gardeners Range.

I’d never tried the Gardeners Collection before. The fragrance from this range is utterly stunning. The scents that stand out for me are Lavender & Sage. But in there you’ll find Lavender, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme & Oak Moss. Such an intoxicating aroma.

In my little blogging pack I received:

So… let’s start with…

Exfoliating Soap

I popped this soap in our main bathroom & every time I open the door I’m met with a gorgeous fresh scent. It just makes you think of being outdoors in a beautiful floral garden. Scent aside, the soap itself is gorgeous too. I get very dry skin along my knuckles & down my index fingers. Soap tends to dry my skin out & can even make it crack. This soap however is really gentle & moisturing. The exfoliating element of fine ground pumice is amazing for cleaning overworked hands. Perfect for after muddy play in the garden. The fragrance really lingers on your hands afterwards too.

Ultra Moisturing Hand Therapy

This little stunner is enriched with shea butter. The thing I love about this hand cream is that it’s not greasy at all & it absorbs really easily leaving no residue. The smell is gorgeous. You can buy this hand cream in various sizes… so you can have one stood in the bathroom & one popped into your favourite handbag. I’m a huge fan of any Crabtree & Evelyn Hand cream if I’m honest. But this one is deffinitely up there with my fave scents.

Intensive All Purpose Balm

I love a multi purpose balm. A little tin of all round goodness that you can pop straight into your handbag for those pesky little skin emergencies. This beautiful balm is enriched with shea butter & beeswax. So it’s super hydrating & moisturing. The eucalyptus in it gives it that protecting antiseptic feel. I actually used this a lot on my lips. The constant change in weather at the moment from hot to cold has left me with sore & chapped lips. This balm has worked a treat! My little boy often gets a a rough patch of skin near his elbow from commando crawling around the place…. a teeny little dab of this & it cleared right up. This would be excellent on hard working hands too. It may be a little pot, but a little dab goes a long way. Less is deffinitely  more where this little miracle balm is concerned. This product is an Online Exclusive.

This range is stunning… just what we’d expect from Crabtree & Evelyn. If you’re struggling for gift ideas for Father’s Day – these products would be prefect! Treat Dad & Grandad to some goodies. At the moment there is 30% off certain products & I know for sure that some of the Gardeners range products are in that deal. Also… free delivery online for transactions over £15! Bargain!

So what are you waiting for??? Go treat yourself & your nearest & dearest too!

Thanks as always for reading 🙂

Bean Bag Planet

29 Feb

Hi folks,

Last week I received a lovely delivery from Bean Bag Planet.img_9995

The Bean Bags are suitable for newborn babies & then up to 8 years old. Every bean bag comes with 2 removable waterproof covers which look to be easy to wipe clean after any spills or accidents. The first one has a harness so you can safely strap your bambino in to their bean bag, and the second has no harness for when your child gets older & they can relax comfortably.
They are designed to prevent flat head syndrome by being supportive, without being too solid. Due to the nature of the filling it allows baby’s head to slightly sink into the bean bag. They also prevent acid reflux and colic, because of their fantastic sturdy bonded design which helps your baby to sit at a slight incline reducing the acid sitting on their little tummies.
Obviously I can’t give a full review until my little Baby Bear arrives. But I can let you know my thoughts so far… We love it!img_9999
The bag comes with the beans separate so you are able to fill the bean bag to the desired firmness. As Baby T will use his bean bag from being a new born we opted to make it as firm as possible. I imagine I’ll use it as a comfy seat for him for when he’s not snoozing in his lounger. To fill the bag we used a larger plastic jug. That way we could safely pour the beans into the empty bag with no spillages. The beans are very light… so take care not to sneeze as you’ll send a load of them flying lol…. Yep… I learnt that the hard way! I’d definitely recommend that two of you fill the bag together as it’d be quite difficult on your own I’d imagine.

Once filled, it’s so easy to put together. You literally just zip the top cover to the body of the bean bag. I love the feel of the top cover… it almost feels like moleskin… So soft & cosy. The harness is lovely & chunky… so it’s not fiddly at all. I love the design too. The design I have is  The Teddy Bear’s Picnic in Cream. There are so many designs to choose from. Also… right now the Bean bags are on offer for £29.99 instead of £64.99!!! What an utter bargain!!!

You can find Bean Bag Planet on Facebook which will keep you up to date of new designs & offers!
I’ll be writing another post about Baby Bears bean bag once he’s arrived & is here to enjoy his comfy seat.
I hope you’ve found this useful.
Thanks for reading!

Barry M and it’s Fri’Yay’!

29 Jan

Hi folks ✨

Well what an up & down week its been! I’ve just not been well at all… **WHINGE ALERT** I seem to be suffering with sickness again & pregnancy sickness is so not like having a bug… you can literally spew one minute then eat a jar of gherkins the next! I’m also not sleeping well at all with the pain from the infection in my fibroids & the pain in my hips… So I’m literally the mardiest person in the world right now lol. My midwife is great though & such a massive support. She’s also great at putting my mind at ease. So since I’ve been feeling kinda poo… I’ve not been up to much.

Wednesday was spent watching Netflix… I couldn’t help but be sucked into ‘Making a Murderer’… I really do recommend it. I began watching it with a skeptical head on… But wowzers it’s a gripping watch!

This week I received a gorgeous metallic pink package from Barry M. They kindly sent me their new Nail Care Range. I literally could not wait to rip open the packaging to give it a whirl.

 In the pack I received:

  • Super Mani 7in1 Treatment
  • Iron Mani Ultimate nail Hardener
  • Mani Mask Camouflage, Colour & Condition in Birthday Suit & Bashful

I keep my nails quite short just as I find them easier to maintain & manage in day to day life. These products were so lovely to use… the shape of the actual brush is lovely & makes painting your nails really easy. The brush is very good quality – no straggly bristles. I started off using the 7in1 treatment of which I used 2 coats. It creates such a high shine that you could actually just use this on its own to make your nails look super healthy & well manicured. Now, I’m not a naked or nude nail kinda girl… I’m very much into bold colours. But I decided to give birthday suit a go. The results look gorgeous. Both Mani Mask polishes have a matte finish… So I decided to use Iron Mani as a top coat to give a strong shiny finish. My nails look beautiful & super healthy. Even the hubster said my nails looked ‘professional & classy’!

Each of these products are priced at £3.99!!! I just cannot believe how good the prices are! You can buy these products from most Boots & Superdrug stores. I’ve tried nail polishes way more expensive than these ones… But these are just as good quality… if not better! I am most definitely a big fan of this brand now!

The latest editions of Elle & Elle Decoration were sent out this week too… but I haven’t gotten round to reading them cover to cover just yet.

I’m hoping I’m going to be feeling much better by tomorrow as I’m off shopping for new specs! I’m so overdue new glasses it’s unreal. So I think it’s only right that I get 2 new pairs. Expect lots of upcoming spec selfies.

So, as you can see… I’ve really not been up to much… I’m actually writing this post from my bedroom whilst wearing my PJs. I never have a proper duvet day… That’s how unwell I’m feeling. Coco is with me though keeping me company… well… I say that… she’s actually snoring in her little nighttime bed lol.

So far this morning I’ve organised my hospital bag so it’s ready for when I go in to have the little Prince 💙 I’ve also tried to organised my dressing table a little better too.

Ooooooh, I’ve also been checking out the Cath Kidston sale for a new bag that I can take into hospital with me so it’ll match my Weekened Bag & Diaper bag which are both Cath Kidston too. I don’t mind that they’re all not the same pattern… I kinda like the mis-matchey look.

I’m in the process of reviewing Valentte London… so please keep a look out for that review coming soon.

Oh & don’t forget to check out my new website: www.hayleythorne.co.uk

Thanks again for reading! 💕

Drama, Drama, Drama at Thorne Towers

14 Jan

Hi folks ✨

Well… Yesterday & today has been a day for drama & calamities! Urgh… I’m so accident prone!!! 😩

Yesterday I was making a gorgeous low fat pasta bake… It was all going fine while the bolognese was bubbling away in the Crock pot… I part boiled the wholemeal pasta with no dramas… then I mixed it all & spread it out into a lasagne dish topped with yummy homemade low fat cheese sauce… transferred it to the oven… all fine & accident free! Then… I burn my arm as I’m taking it out of the oven… OUCHIE! 😞 Honestly it hurt so bad 😦 It’s now blistered & is all bubbled up. However… the pasta bake was yummy.

This morning began with yet more drama as I’ve not slept… at all. But, I didn’t mind since the weather man on the TV this morning promised that today would be a day of snow in the UK… You can imagine my delight when it began snowing. ❄️ I was so excited when the tiny white flakes started to drift passed the window… then the banging began… the wind had knocked the back gates off of their latch & I noticed that the newly emptied recycled boxes were starting to blow around off the bottom of the drive. So… I headed outside in my Harry Potter PJs, leopard print dressing gown & Ugg Boots… with no make up on I may add! I headed out of the back door & down the drive where the gates proceeded to clash behind me. I successfully rescued the recycling boxes but couldn’t get back into my garden as the gates at clashed & swung the wrong way & had bent the latch so I could swing them the right way. So… there I was… Crying in the snow… prego… in my PJs & freezing my backside off! I don’t know how, but I managed to squidge through the teeniest of gaps. I scraped my bump though 😦 Then I needed to somehow secure the gates… so after 20 minutes of dramatic crying (and I do cry very dramatically) I managed to secure the gates but the latch is still broken, and, while sorting the gates… my iPhone 6 plus fell out of my pocket & onto the concrete, thus smashing the screen… ace! Honestly… I’m just so gutted!!!

So I’ve spent this afternoon watching Criminal Minds & feeling sorry for myself. I’ve aired on the side of caution after last nights burny arm incident & opted for a Crock Pot meal for tea. I decided to get creative & added  load of stuff to the Crock & I’ll hope for the best… It’s all healthy though:

  • Chicken Breasts
  • Tinned Chopped Tomatoes
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • Frozen Oriental Vegetables
  • Frozen Sweetcorn
  • Piri Piri Seasoning
  • Garlic Granules

I’m hoping it’ll turn out nice… I couldn’t stand anymore drama today lol.

Yesterday I received a lovely gift package from Cleaves Candles. The wax melts are made completely of soy wax & natural botanical oils, they’re also environmentally friendly. The scents I received are:

  • Lavender
  • Angels Whisper
  • Baby Powder
  • Bedtime Bath

Once I’ve tried them all I’ll be writing a full review on each scent I’ve tried. But so far I can already say… I love them. They smell lovely even before they’ve been lit. The prices are so good too at £4 for a clamshell or £2 for a pack of 4 melts. They’d be gorgeous little favours for a wedding. It’s the first thing I thought of… Plus Wedding season is fast approaching. Check out their Facebook Page too for some Valentines themed gifts 💙

Coco also received her latest treat box from Top Collar . If you fancy ordering a box for your furbaby… simply click the embedded link & enter coupon Code: COCO to receive a totally free box! They’re gluten free & great for sensitive tummies. If Coco is impressed… then they must be good. Also… They come in a personalised box!!! They’re so cute 🐾

Righteo folks… I’m gonna leave this post here… But stay tuned for more reviews! 💕

Thanks again for reading ✨

Skip the Diet… Just Eat Healthy

5 Jan

Hi folks ✨

If you returned to work yesterday for the first time after the Christmas vacation – I hope it wasn’t too painful. It feels so bizarre being off work for me. I’m technically not on my maternity leave yet as I’m still using up all of my built up annual leave. It’s so much better for me being off work as I have so many medical appointments & because I’m so up & down with pregnancy sickness & with pain from the fibroids – this way I don’t feel the pressure of letting colleagues down.

Yesterday seemed like such a long day. I started the day with loads of blood tests which required a lot of waiting around until lunchtime. Both arms were so sore from the amount of blood they needed to take – ouchie! I’m such a big wimp when it comes to having blood taken. The nurse I met yesterday is also the breast feeding supporter. That was utterly fantastic for me, as I really want to breast feed & I had so many questions. I felt so much more confident after speaking with her… She was literally a fountain of knowledge & gave me lots of literature to peruse. I can also make a one to one appointment with her at a later date – which I will most definitely be doing. While talking with her I was able to get all of my ‘weight’ fears off of my chest. As you all know in the last 3 yeas I’ve managed to lose 6 stone in weight. It’s been a constant fear of mine about gaining weight during my pregnancy. Well, she really put my mind at ease with regard to weight gain. I’ve gained 11lbs so far & I’m 28 weeks pregnant. We talked through the reasons behind pregnancy weight gain, the gains you make in order to breast feed & then the fat that’s used to breast feed. Call me dumb… But I never actually realised that you burn an added 500 calories during breast feeding.

We briefly discussed nutrition too… Having lost weight on my own I’m very confident with food now & things I make. I feel so much more confident knowing that once our gorgeous boy is here I can eat healthily… feed him… & get back to my goal weight 💙 I’m so not into ‘diets’. Honestly… I cannot go onto Facebook or Twitter without being bombarded with offers of weightloss capsules… diet shakes… juices & borderline starvation. I’m not knocking any of these diets if they work for you… but for me  I need to eat actual food 3 times a day, plus snacks. I like a nutritious hearty meal & as the nurse pointed out – new breast feeding mammies need lots of healthy food & plenty water. Energy & hydration is key. I was told by my midwife months ago that the only form of healthy eating/weightloss that they endorse is a Slimming World style of eating. Slimming Wold is the style of eating that I’ve been sticking too for the last 3 years. I never joined the group, but I took their syn free & extra easy way of preparing & consuming food. It’s all about the good fats, less salt, less sugar. It really works for me.

A classic example of the kind of things I cook is what we had for tea last night: Sausage Casserole.

It’s so simple to make… especially if you have a Crock Pot/Slow Cooker. I served the casserole along side peas, sweetcorn & mash with added mustard seeds. I didn’t use any sauces as they tend to have hidden salts, sugars & oils. To make the actual casserole:

  • Linda McCartney Red Onion & Rosemary Sausages (they are super low in fat)
  • 1 reduced salt beef Oxo cube
  • 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
  • Frozen casserole veg (I buy from either Asda or Waitrose)

Literally throw all of the ingredients in your Crock Pot – I pop the veg & sausages in frozen – it’s so quick & easy. So if you’re in a rush on a morning – this is the recipe for you. Set on low, then cook all day. You could serve with extra veg, boiled potatoes or chips baked in frylight.

Tonight for tea we’ll be having Chilli… so I shall post that recipe in my next update.

I really am working hard to get my website up & live… I’m going to feature my recipes & my product reviews… so please keep your eyes peeled for that. If you’re wanting more recipes along with pics of how the recipe will turn out… you can find my diet page here. You can always find me on Twitter & Instagram too.

So… back to yesterday… Since it was such a pants morning of ouchie tests I decided a little retail therapy was in order & since my new fave thing is treating my little boy… that’s what I did 💙 I popped to Boots & bought this gorgeous little Very Hungry Caterpillar all in one with hat… I just love it. Even better at 50% off. Seriously they have so many reductions right now.

Once home I ordered him a lounger from the Boots website. He’s going to have a cot bed in his nursery & a Snuzpod for a nighttime in our room… but for through the day downstairs I was going to get a crib or a Moses basket. But I spied this lounger & read the reviews, watched youtube videos & I was totally sold. It’s comfy & fun. So I’m hoping it shall arrive this week. I just want everything as cozy as can be for his arrival 💙

Last night was spent unwinding in front of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ with a cup of decaf tea in hand & my new Harry Potter colouring book… it’s so relaxing.

Everything looks so super tidy with all the Christmas decks down.

Before I go I just wanted to remind you all of Coco’s special offer with Top Collar homemade & healthy doggy treats. Simply follow this highlighted link & enter code: COCO to receive a completely free box of goodies! The box is personalised so it’d make a lovely gift for a family pet or friends pet.

Righteo folks… I’m gonna leave this post here as I have another day ahead of me at the hospital in the shape of a scan, consultant appointment, blood results & anti D injection.

Thanks again for reading ✨

There’s an App for that!

19 Dec

Hi folks ✨

Wow… Saturday finally arrived. It’s been such a hectic week for us… So Saturday is very much needed. We’re ready for a little pampering & a little relaxation.

My morning has started with watching Spiderman 2 & Muppets Christmas Carol in bed with the hubster & the chi… Complete with a Yorkshire Brew.

Followed by an epic shower. I’ve used my English Laundry body lotion by Christoper Wicks. If you want your chosen fragrance for the day to ‘pop’… then it’s always a good to start with the same body lotion to layer your fragrance. I cannot recommend this beautiful fragrance enough. It’s priced at £79 for the boxset over at the online Birchbox Shop The set includes a 100ml EDP, 120ml Body Lotion & a 10ml EDP to keep in your hand bag. It really is a good buy. The bottle itself is really classy & is finished off with some little sparkly diamantes. Perfect for a little treat to yourself… or for someone special. With it being an EDP rather than a EDT – it really does last all day. In fact… my bedding now smells of it. It’s a really intoxicating scent & it doesn’t smell like any other fragrance. I sometimes find that the celebrity endorsed perfumes can be a little ‘samey’, but this is something a little more rare. A true classic. So, now that I’m smelling lovely, it’ll be hair, make up then a little walk into our village square for some lunch.

Being off work on my Christmas vacation has given me loads of time to research baby items. I’ve been spending  lot of time on the Mothercare website. But… did you know that they have their own free app to download??? I didn’t! So obviously I downloaded it immediately. It’s great, as they have a wishlist feature which is always good for when you’re planning your new arrival. I’ve been spending hours drooling over the Snuzpod. Since we already know I’m having to have a planned c-section & I really want to breast feed… I thought this would be a great addition to have. It’ll help with unnecessary bending. It’s already been recommended to me by a few people… I think it’s going to be a must have for me. So obviously – that was added to the wishlist.

I feel really lucky to have this extra time off before our little bundle arrives – it’s giving me valuable time to plan & get things just perfect for him 💙

With the post today came a lovely little pack from The Journal Shop 🎁

I was sent these 3 cute items from their iconic range… I can’t wait to write a full review on them.

We’ve had a lovely lunch at our local Wine Bar. Their sweet potato fries are soooooo nice & incredibly moreish!!! We’re being such little piglets today as we’re off out for tea tonight too… But I’ll tell you all about that tomorrow.

After lunch we popped next door to our little florists. We bought a gorgeous centre piece for our dinning table. It smells so nice with it being real greenery. It’ll be perfect for when we have people over for festive drinkies 🎄

So… that’s been my Saturday so far. I think we’ll have a chill out now before our friends arrive later on. Don’t forget that I’ll have a review of the day & night cream that I received this week, coming up too. I’ve also had word that I’m being sent more beauty items to review so… keep your gorgeous peepers peeled for those!

Well, once again – thank you for reading & hi to my new readers in Russia ☺️

Have a great Saturday! ✨

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx

Coupons, Codes and Freestuff

12 Dec

Hi Folks ✨

Eeeeeeeeck… Guess what!? Yesterday I began my maternity leave

I’ll be on a break from work now until February 2017!!! Can you believe it!? I’m so super excited 💙 so that means I’ll have plenty time to do even more reviews & discount hunting for you all ✨

So, we all love a discount… But even better when it’s free… Right? Well, for all you Boots advantage card holders I totally recommend downloading the Boots app onto your smart device. You’ll be able to download offers designed for you based around what you normally buy. Since joining the Boots Parenting Club (I would highly recommend joining to any parents to be or new parents – you can sign up here) I’ve gained 10 points per every £1 that I spend. Not only that – I get offers sent direct to my smart device via the app that I can download onto my Boots Advanage Card. At the moment there’s a great offer on a free MAM bottle & soother

Well since I finished work at 12noon yesterday – I decided to waddle over to Boots to collect my freebie… It’s so cute!

It’s really worth going to collect! I also activated a 25% off coupon any item of full priced clothing

I just could not resist this gorgeous onesie.

There’s also a 25% off coupon for all Mum to Be toiletries. I tried some of the Mum & Me Cussons Bump Bath Soak

It’s really nice – I had such a lovely relaxing bubble bath with it. Loads of bubbles ✨

So not only do you get money off coupons… Free stuff… But you can collect loads of points!!!

I’ve currently got over £50 of points. I’ve managed to collect these points since August! I’m saving them up to buy something nice for Baby T when he arrives… Maybe a lovely high chair or something!? I really like the Chicco range of high chairs. So I shall carry on saving up the points. Normally I’d be splurging the points on something for myself… Like perfume etc… But all I want to spend my money on these days is my little boy. So, if any beauty companies would like to send me products to review – please feel free ☺️ Soon my website will be up & running where I’ll be able to feature more reviews & it’ll make it easier for you to contact me. Once it’s up & ready – I’ll be posting a link.

I seem to be getting bigger everyday now 💙

Soon I’m gonna need a whole new wardrobe I think lol.

Yesterday when I got home from work & my little mini shopping spree, I was delivered a lovely little package from Paperchase … So please stay tuned for a fabulous review of the products I was sent 🎁

Today I received my Christmas BirchBox. It’s utter amazing!!! I would highly recommend ordering it to everyone. I was sent £60 worth of products in a glitzy clutch bag.

With the coupon code I was sent, I was able to order this beauty box for the bargain price of £6.95!!! You can see the fab quality products I was sent. I also know that there’s still some left up for grabs! So if you’d like to order one then follow this link here: https://www.birchbox.co.uk/invite/zd49d then enter the code: CLOUDXMAS You will need to subscribe, but once your December box arrives, then cancel it. That’s what I do so I’m not in a subscription. I only order when I’m sent an exclusive code. When I get these codes I’ll pass them on to you guys ✨

Well, I’m gonna leave this post here as I’m pretty tired this evening & I’m off to snuggle under a blankie & watch Star Wars.

Thanks again for reading ✨ and a big hello to all of my new readers 💙

Reviews… Business… and the North Pole Breakfast

27 Nov

Hi Folks,

Right… just wanna get some ‘businessy’ type stuff out of the way: Thanks for the response to yesterday’s blog post. My private email address that you can contact me on is: freeman.hayley@gmail.com I will review products from beauty to housey items to food items to… anything really. The free vouchers to restaurants etc… are always a nice little surprise. You’ll also find me via Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest & Instagram @IxxyPoco I’m also in the process of having a website developed… so keep those gorgeous peepers peeled!

Woo hoo… can you believe it’s Fri’Yay!? I literally can’t believe I’ve managed a full week at work too!!! I’ve written so many procedure manuals this week it’s unreal… my eyes are gonna be square from looking at a computer screen. The hubster had to pretty much walk me to the office door this morning as I was struggling with the infection pain… but I did it… I made it… & I did it with sparkles & a leopard print cardigan lol… Oh & a massive Choccocino from Campus Coffee! Yesterday I received my official letter confirming that my maternity leave request had been accepted. So… as of December 11th I shall be on leave until February 2017. I just can’t believe it… It’s happening… I’m finally gonna be a Mammy after years of waiting.

Obviously with being pregnant I can’t have my usual weekend sparkles… so I’ve become a bit creative with my non-alcoholic sparkles & drinkies. Relish in Doncaster will literally make you any scrummy cocktail you’d like – but minus the alcohol content. Their Strawb Sensation is to die for. I’ve also developed a new love for Belvoir Pink Lemonade. And Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without copious mugs of Mulled Wine… well… Fellow Prego mammies to Be  you need to buy some Ribena Winter Spice! Its beautiful! Just like Mulled Wine… but without the wine lol. The Tee Total thing really doesn’t phase me if I’m honest. While I was having my right leg rebuilt I didn’t drink alcohol for over 2 years. Abstaining from the stuff is an easy thing to do for me. Even when everyone else around you is enjoying a festive tipple. I’m happy with my pink lemo in a champagne flute. For me… it’s all about the presentation… if it looks good… then I’m sure I’ll like it. I’m very aesthetically minded.

It struck me last night after I posted yesterdays blog post – that I haven’t given you guys an update on my skanky nails for a while! Well… they’re so much better. For new readers – here’s a brief update: Back in May I went to a cheapo nail place to have some acrylics done for my birthday. I went cheap & where they use those little electric files & wear face masks – you know the places I’m talking about. Well within 4 weeks of having them on… my thumb nails lifted away from my nail bed & I contracted a water infection in each & every nail plate. The result was nails covered in brown & khaki green spots. They were paper thin & extremely sore. I couldn’t bare to have my hands in water even! Typing was a nightmare too!  Well… 6 month on & they’re almost healed. All my finger nails are back to normal. But both thumb nails aren’t quite there yet. I’ve been using a good cuticle oil daily & a Sally Hansen nail strengthener to try & repair the damage. So… the moral of the story: Always go to a good nail salon like Perfect Harmony in Sprotbrough Village, Doncaster.

**please note that the above polish is Holly Place by Nails Inc.

With Christmas fast approaching – I’ve gotten myself super organised! I’ve already posted my Christmas cards & everyone’s Gifts are all wrapped. I’ve even got all my grocery shopping ordered & ready for delivery around Christmas week. Seriously… What would we do without Morrison’s & Ocado!? They’ve both got amazing deals on to be had & their customer service is top notch. Their Twitter support is incredible too… I can speak from first hand experience. Nothing is ever a bother.

With today being ‘Black Friday’… I just wanted to mention Gemma again. Gemma is a fab Younique make up rep & she has some good deals right now. https://www.youniqueproducts.com/gemmadover Not only does she have her online shopping link, but she has a Facebook Page too where she holds competitions & special bargains. Give her page a like: https://www.facebook.com/Younique-by-Gemma-415392888667186/?fref=ts Liking her page costs nothing… she won’t push sales on to you… but it’s a chance for you to keep an eye out for some amazing bargains. And I mean – who doesn’t love a competition!? You’ve gotta be in it to win it!

So… Who’s heard of The Noth Pole Breakfast? If I’m honest – I hadn’t heard of it until someone told me about it on Facebook then I did some research via Pinterest. It’s a cute little idea of having a Christmas themed Breakfast on December 1st. The idea is that Elves magically deliver it before you wake up – too cute! Well this year I wanted a practice run before our bambino arrives. So this year is a dress rehearsal if you like. I’m having our North Pole Breakfast Saturday December 5th when my Parents are down visiting. I have Christmas Crockery… Christmassy Glassware & some Christmas themed foods lol… I can’t wait! I just love to ‘faff’ lol. I bought the cutest Christmas Glass bottles & straws from Home bargains for 50p each. I don’t think some of you down south of England have a Home Bargains? If not – then you can shop online. I also bought some amazing Christmassy Crockery from B&M. Unfortunately though I couldn’t get any side plates… so I’m still on the look out for those!

I’ve really been into pregnancy ‘freebies’ at the moment. Honestly… if it’s free then get it I say! I’ve heard lots of people slagging off the Bounty Packs, Emma’s Diary Packs etc… but seriously guys… they’re free! What do you want!? I’ve literally signed up to everything. I’ve had free pregnancy nutrition items from Boots, free Pampers packs, Free Hipp Organic feeding spoons, Free Johnson’s products… honestly loads of things. Starting your nursery is pretty pricey – so surely all of the free things you can apply for are just a little bonus. I mean the travel sized toiletries are great for taking your little one on vacation. Here’s a few links to get you started if you’re interested:

http://www.emmasdiary.co.uk/baby-offers/free-baby-samples this is the Emma’s Diary one. It’s pretty good & you get lots of vouchers for money off things sent to you
http://m.boots.com/h5/cat_hub?unCountry=uk&path=/en/Mother-Baby/Parenting-Club/ This is the Boots parenting club to pair with your advantage card… you’ll get 10 points per every £1 that you spend
http://www.hipp.co.uk/join This one is really good. You get free baby spoons every now through letterbox & you get lots of money off coupons for food & things
http://www.bounty.com/about-bounty/bounty-packs?gclid=CPiLqorlockCFYvnwgod3V8AkQ these are 3 packs from bounty you can get: Mum to Be, Newborn Baby & Family Pack. All of them are worth getting coz you get lots of sample sized things that are perfect for your changing bag.

I’m so looking forward to tomorrow… we’ve got a lovely lazy morning planned with breakfast in bed. Then we’ll probably do some boring ‘housey upkeep’ type of things… but at 4pm we’ll be heading to our Village Wine Bar to watch out Village Christmas Tree being lit up! Afterwards we’ll be heading to the Boat Inn on Sprotbrough Falls for some tea by the open fire. Oh I just can;t wait. I’m feeling more & more Christmassy each day… if that’s even at all possible! I can’t recommend the food enough at The Boat Inn, plus the overall setting of the place itself is beautiful. Sprotbrough is most definitely a gorgeous Village to live in.
Ooooooh and… we’ve had word from the carpet place & our new carpets will be fitted for Christmas!!! Yey! They shall be fitted December 8th! Our literally hate our current carpets with a passion. They’re the ones that were already down when we first moved in back in March… They’re tired, worn & a bit ugly if I’m honest lol. So, some fresh new ones will really lift the place.

Right well… I’m gonna leave this post there as we’re expecting a grocery deliver any minute… so I’d best get organised & try & make some room in the pantry for it all lol. Thanks again for reading!
