Making Memories

20 May

Hi folks,

I love the month of May. Spring is everywhere & everything looks so beautiful… the weather is on the turn to sunnier times & it’s also mine & the hubsters Birthday month.

We always try to do something nice for our birthdays as they’re only 4 days apart. But when you have little ones in tow… plans have to change & adapt. This year we had the most amazing little break in the Yorkshire Dales in a stunning Georgian Cottage.

So… first of all… let me tell you about this simply beautiful cottage. Green Cottage is an elegant Georgian Cottage set on the green of one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque villages. It’s an ideal base to explore the Dales in any season. And… it’s 100% Family-friendly… that includes doggies too. A dog bed & bowl can be provided if needed. Our Coco is such a little diva though & likes her own little comforts – so we took her fave bed & mini food & water bowl… most dog bowls are big enough for her to bathe in lol.

The space itself:

The house is fully detached and set over three floors. Don’t worry thoughif you have little ones, then baby gates can be provided. Seth is 3 & Ted is 6 month so we very much need baby gates on the stairsso this was fab for us. They were already installed too!

Lower Ground Floor

  • Kitchen diner (featuring an extendable table to seat up to 6 guests and fully equipped with Rangemaster cooker, dishwasher, fridge with freezer shelf and microwave along with plenty of good quality cooking and baking equipment, glasses, crockery etc). Honestly…the kitchen has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Even down to the colourful plastic kids crockery from IKEA that we all know & love & can’t live without! We ate in both nights… did ‘snacky food & we had sparkles… obvs

  • Utility room (with washer-dryer, iron and ironing board and a drying space for muddy boots and outdoor gear)There’s great tray there to stand your dirty shoes in there’s a radiator right underneath the coat rail too – so if you’ve gotten a little damp – everything will dry off.

  • Bathroom (with spa whirlpool bath, and toasty underfloor heating). The bath is utterly divine! I had visions of having an uninterrupted bubble bath with a glass of sparkles… but of course that lasted all of 5 minutes until Seth came bounding in lol. But that’s Mama Life for you!

Ground Floor

  • Living room (sofas to comfortably seat 5, log burner, digital Smart TV with Freeview, BBC iPlayer etc as well as lots of books, maps and games) we took our amazon fire stick with us & connected it to the WiFi. So we were able to watch Disney Life, Netflix & Prime. Please note that the play pen in the living room is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • Snug / third bedroom (large day bed which can be made up into full size single bed, second TV, desk)

  • Shower room (walk in monsoon shower with extra large enclosure, heated towel rail) There is also a toilet. It’s fab as there is literally a toilet on each floor. Essential for toilet training! Seth is totally dry now, but we’re still only in our first month of toilet training… so a toilet on hand is utterly essential lol.

First floor

  • Master bedroom (king size bed with deep, comfortable mattress, large wardrobe and antique dressing table) oodles of spaceLoads of room for a travel cot. A travel cot can be provided too if you don’t want to take one.

  • Twin bedroom (two full size single beds with pocket sprung mattresses, chest of drawers and clothes rail) a waterproof mattress cover can be provided too! Perfect! Please note that the bed guard rail is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • WC with basin (‘Jack and Jill’ style access from both upstairs bedrooms, ideal for families, or can be set up as en-suite for either bedroom)

Outside

  • Enclosed garden to rear and side, paved and gravel with outside seating, and a charcoal BBQ
  • Bike store (lockable for up to 5 bikes, can also be used as a pram store)
  • Direct access to the village green – a large expanse of grass free for all to stroll, sit or play
  • Play area visible from back gate – swings, slide, football posts etc. We spent quite a lot of time in the little play area. Seth loves a park. There’s also plenty wide open space to run around or to picnic. But, if you take your fur babies… please ensure you scoop that poop! There’s nothing worse than dog poop making the place dirty!

As you can see from above & from my photos… everything is catered for.

The bedding was so comfy!!! Egyptian cotton bed linen on all beds, 13.5 tog thick duvets (hypoallergenic and feather / down) and plenty of soft and fluffy Egyptian cotton towels. As you can see… Ted had to try out the king size bed lol.

There’s a welcome pack with all the basics for your first couple of days (loo rolls, hand soap, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, tea towels and kitchen cleaning supplies) as well as tea, coffee, milk, bread and a few local treats. This was soooo nice!!! It just means that you don’t have to pack a lot of shopping. And it also means that it’s all ready for you to get the kettle straight on when you arrive… coz let’s face it… we all need that first brew when we arrive somewhere! Especially when you’ve had to sing Baby Shark & Old McDonald Farm all the way there lol.

Also… when we arrived there was a lovely big box of toys left out for Seth to explore, as well as plenty children’s books. There were even a few laid out on his bed for him. That was such a lovely touch & Seth was super excited!

So as well as a travel cot, baby gates & toys… the owners can provide a highchair – which Ted thought was VERY comfy & there is also a baby monitor. Oh & I did mention the plastic IKEA crockery, but there’s also a MAM Baby Cup too. Just so many little things that have been added to make your break so much easier! This cottage is really like a home from home.

For our furbabies, there is a lovely fluffy blanket provided & the use of a hose pipe outside to wash down those dirty paws.

Okay… so you’ve heard all about the gorgeous cottage… but what did we do while we were there? We investigated Settle. What a stunning little town. Seth particularly enjoyed The House That Jack Built. He got some lovely new Melissa & Doug toys. There are so many gorgeous shops, tea rooms & places to eat, to investigate. There’s also the Watershed Mill. It is absolutely stunning… the scenery is simply breathtaking. We popped there for a little bite to eat over lunch time.

We spent a lot of time playing on the green outside of the cottage & in the little park. We were only there for 2 nights… next time we’ll be booking for a week.

The cottage has a lovely organised folder of leaflets & places to visit etc… so helpful for when you’re planning days out.

This beautiful cottage is simply worth every penny. If you book before August & quote: “IxxyPoco” you will be given an exclusive discount. You can book a year in advance. So use that code before it runs out. Simply head to Green Cottage on AirBnB & send a message to the owners quoting my blog.

Thanks as always for reading & I hope you’ve been inspired to book yourself a lovely break away ❤️

Resolutions, Health and Babies

8 Jan

Hi folks,

I just simply can’t believe that we’re already into 2018! Last year just went by so fast in a massive blur! I hope you’ve all had an amazing Christmas & New Year.

Our Christmas was simply amazing… lots of laughter, sparkles & food! Maybe a little too much food actually. I’ve gone back to basics today in a bid to lose 2 stone. I think coz my mind is the zone of healthy eating… I’m actually already feeling better. Mind over matter so they say. Healthy eating always makes me feel so much happier too.

In between Christmas & New Year, I had a few tests at Hospital. Luckily everything came back tip top 🙂 So I’ve literally skipped into 2018 with a clean bill of health. I’m hoping that maybe this could be the year that we add a new addition to our family. But I guess we’ll have to wait & see.

Until then though… we’ve added 2 new little darlings to our family… Tuna & Mayo 🙂 Seth’s new Goldfish.

Like most folk… I’ve started the new year with some new year resolutions. Now, I don’t like setting outrageous & unattainable resolutions… nor do I like the ‘New Year New Me’ saying… so here are my ‘realistic’ resolutions:

  1. Do more things for myself… what I mean by that is, that since Seth has been born I just don’t do anything as a treat just for me. I used to go out a lot & I used to have my nails done each month. All of that kinda faded away as I just put everything & everyone first. So, on Saturday I went to get my nails done all on my own. It was so lovely. I even made an appointment to have them done in 3wks time! Go me! I have to say that my separation anxiety has added to it too. Going out on my own just never feels right. But I think I’m slowly getting better with that.
  2. Be healthier. I’d love to lose 2 stone. I just really need to be the healthiest Mammy to Seth that I can be. I owe it to him to be the best version of myself that I possibly can.
  3. Be Positive. It’s no secret that I’m a positive thinker… and I plan on continuing that. Having a positive approach to life really does help to get you through the tough times.

I’m so excited to see what this year will bring. Last year we moved home & we didn’t anticipate that – but it was the best thing we ever did. I just love our home so much. Seth has more space to play. We’ve started to make plans for a little decorating. Nothing too in your face… just a nice freshen up with mostly neutral colours. I want to add a roller blind to the guest bedroom & new curtains. Then in the spare room, we want to re-paint & add a new curtain pole & curtains etc… Seth’s Room doesn’t need a spruce up since we did when we moved in. The same as our room… we did all the sprucing up & finishing touches as we moved in. We shall get there I’m sure.

My lovely frosty view this morning.

I’m hoping this year will also be the year that I pass my driving test. The first step will be to get my theory test booked in. I’ve started my manoeuvres… well… pulling up on the left & parallel parking. Eeeeck… I just can’t wait until I’ve actually passed.

I can’t believe that Seth turns two this year too. I just do not know where the time is going. Soon enough we’ll be putting the tree up for next Christmas lol.

Well I shall leave this post here as I’ve a mountain of laundry to do… fun times lol.

Thanks so much as always for reading!

Prepping for the Party Season

18 Oct

Hi folks,

I love this time of the year… it’s easily my most favourite. The leaves are turning orange, there’s a chill in the air & the dark nights are drawing in. I just love it.

Our spare room now resembles Santa’s Workshop at the moment. I’ve been in full crafting mode prepping for Halloween & Christmas. I’ve even started to wrap Christmas gifts too! Haha… I know I know… I’m super early! But, the more I do now then the more time I have to just sit back & enjoy the festivities.

We decided this year we were going to set a sensible budget on how much we were going to spend on Seth… that budget literally went out of the window within hours. We’ve gone so overboard… but we just couldn’t help it. I keep thinking he’ll be our one & only… so why not spoil him 💙

We’ve bought him a gorgeous corner sofa for his bedroom. We’ve turned it into a reading corner. We were going to save it for Christmas… but we’ve given him it early. It just looks so cute in his room.

Along with pretty much finishing off our Christmas shopping… I’ve also started stocking piling in my pantry too. I’ve made a start on buying frozen party food. Crisps, chips & dips. Crackers, biscuit selections & chocolates. And of course… bottles of sparkles. I got a bottle of Bollinger for half price!!! I’ve also got some Moët I bought while it had money off. I always plan in advance, so when December comes all I need to buy is fresh & perishable items & then spend money on fun days out.

At the weekend we went Pumpkin Picking. I’d never been Pumpkin Picking before. Seth had so much fun trudging through the fields to find the perfect pumpkin. I just love family days out, making memories.

We’ve got a few visits to meet Santa booked for December… the plan is to see Santa each weekend in December. We’ve also got our holiday to Winter Wonderland at Center Parcs booked too… I’m so excited!!! You all know that Center Parcs is my happy place.

I’ve got a lovely blogging trip down to London booked for next month – Eeeeeeck! It’s exciting going down to London… but I always get a bit nervous too. I promise to take lots of pics… I’ll give you all more info about my trip soonly 🙂 And… I’m sure it’d be rude not to pop into Liberty too to check out their gorgeous Christmas shop.

Driving lessons are continuing on a sparkly high! In fact… I start manoeuvres in 2wks! Yikes! Can you believe that!? I’m starting with the dreaded parallel park. But… I shall remain positive! And I CAN do this! I tell you what though… driving with a bloody sat nav is rather off putting. It’s being added to the driving test come December… so that’s something I have to get used too. I’ve been playing lots on the theory test app – so I should get that booked in. I think there’s like a 6wk waiting list.

I’ve had quite a few medical appointments of late too… urgh! I’ve not been feeling 100% really. But, I’ve been having some tests & I have a referral to a consultant up at the Hospital – so hopefully soon I shall some answers & a solution. Once I know more… I shall let you know.

I’ve got lots of lovely reviews coming up too 🙂 so please keep checking back for those.

As always – thank you so much for reading!

Victorian Hydro

5 Jul

Hi folks ✨
I’ve been trying & testing some new scents. Victorian Hydro make & handpour their very own candles & melts. I was sent a lovely a package of wax melts in a variety of scents.

Sometimes I feel like I buy the same kind of fragrances… Very sweet & generally food related. Cookie or ice cream etc… Well the scents I was sent were like a breath of fresh air. Lovely fragrant scents, but not too overpowering or overly sweet. I’m a big fan of their Opium scent, Jasmine & Patchouli & Raspberry & Peppercorn. I’m a huge fan of Molton Brown Black Peppercorn showergel… The Raspberry & Peppercorn is very reminiscent of it. Fresh & clean with a hint of spice.

The scents I received:

  • Opium
  • Raspberry & Peppercorn
  • Violet Seduction
  • Alpine Forest
  • Nut Cracker
  • Orange Zest
  • English Rose
  • Fireside
  • Musk & Sandalwood
  • Amber Noir
  • Jasmine & Patchouli

The Alpine Forest & Orange Zest are very Christmassy. As you all know – I LOVE Christmas. Alpine Forest was just like Christmas Trees & Wreaths. I love that smell. Orange Zest made me think of the Orange you find at the bottom of the toe of your Christmas stocking.

All of the scents melted really well – no black smoke or fumes. You know my pet hate for black smoke coming from candles & melts. Some of the better known brands seem to be chemically & smokey… These were not. They melted so well. When melting I used a regular Tealight that lasted around 3hrs. Each scent I managed to use 4 times before the smell started to fade! I thought that was really good. Especially as a wax melt is priced at 60p!!! Amazing value for money!

With Wedding Season upon us, these melts would be amazing as favours for your guests.

I really enjoyed trying this brand. The scent combinations were lovely & different to the norm. Even more sensitive noses enjoyed them… My Chihuahua Coco sometimes sneezes when I’m burning a scented candle. There’s just certain brands & scents I can’t burn now, but Coco didn’t sneeze once while using Victorian Hydro.

You can find them on Facebook or via their Website.

Thanks for reading & happy candle shopping! ✨

Anything that Sparkles

11 Feb

Hi folks ✨

Sorry I’ve been a little elusive the last few days. I’ve been nursing a horrid cold & sore throat. I’m so not a good patient… so I must confess to being a little bit of a dying swan all day Monday & Tuesday.

So… lets go back to Saturday. Saturday was such a lovely day, despite the weather being utterly disgusting! I collected my new glasses… I love them so much, which is a major feat for me as I hate wearing glasses being a contact lens lover. I bought a pair by Solitare & a pair by ZigZag. So not stupidly expensive frames… but nice. Well… I think they’re nice ✨

After collecting my glasses we headed to The Pastures Lodge for lunch. I’ve been there so many times lately… But I love it & it’s such good value for money! After lunch, we headed home for a much needed chill & a movie. Then… It was time to get our glad rags on & head down to Otto Wine bar in the Village. The boys drank beer… while I drank sparkles… Sparkling water that is lol ✨

We then headed next door to Mehfil for an Indian Feast… But I totally forgot to take pics of the food! Oooooopsie.

On Sunday, David (the hubsters bezzie) headed home after a sausage sandwich. I spent the rest of the day feeling really poorly, but, I did get quite a lot of content edited & added on my website if you want to go check that out: www.hayleythore.co.uk

Did I mention that I’ve become a guest blogger for Sugar babies? You should go check out their blog… there are so many good posts on there!

So… Monday & Tuesday were total write offs really… I spent a lot of time snuggling in bed feeling sorry for myself. Although… I did paint my nails with a beautiful pink polish from CND Vinylux in Tutti Fruitti

I also made lots of blogging notes in my blogging book from The Journal Shop. Oh & don’t forget that you can get 10% off of your first order!!!

I drank lots of decaf Yorkshire Tea & snuggled with Coco… perfect for when you’re feeling ill.

I was so excited on Tuesday to receive a lovely package from Mothercare. I recieved 2 beautiful maternity dresses, a nightie & robe set & a breast feeding scarf. So please keep your eyes peeled for the full review on these beautiful garments.

Also, obviously it was Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) this week. After a lovely homemade spicy chilli… we made American style pancakes together for dessert topped with Nutella. It had to be done.

Yesterday I was feeling a lot better… So I headed to Otto for tea & cake wth my lovely friend Jane. A sweet treat & gossip was very much needed. The homemade cakes down at Otto are utterly stunning. I had the biggest slice… well… wedge of Red Velvet Cake. I couldn’t eat it all, but it was so yummy.

It also gave me the opportunity to wear one of my new dresses that Mothercare sent to me. This is my Oh Ma! Maternity Dress which is priced at £40.00. Sooooo comfy!

For anyone wanting to know where I bought my lippy… it’s Pretentious by Younique that you can buy via the embedded link for £15.

Tea last night was a yummy homemade Moroccan inspired lamb Stew that I’d cooked in the Crock Pot. I served it with a wholemeal pitta & bulgar wheat. It was soooo yummy!

 To make this stew:

  • 250g Frozen Diced Lamb
  • 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 Tin Mixed Beans & Chick Peas
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • Frozen Sliced Peppers
  • Handful of Dried Apricots
  • 3 Celery Sticks Sliced
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Granules
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cumin
  • 1 Tsp Dried Coriander
  • Sprinkle of Cayenne Pepper
  • Sprinkle of Dried Chilli Flakes

I don’t brown the meat beforehand. I literally throw all of the above into my Crock Pot set on low & cook for around 7hrs. I thicken with tomato puree before serving.

That in a nutshell is what I’ve been up too so far this week ✨

I’m working on a few blog posts at the moment:

  • What’s in My Hospital Bag
  • The Perfect Mammy Bag

…As well as reviewing my new Mothercare goodies. I’m also waiting on a few stunning items to arrive that I’ll be reviewing for various companies. So, I’ve got lots coming up! Keep those beautiful peepers on the look out for those posts coming up soon!

As always – thanks so much reading!

Drama, Drama, Drama at Thorne Towers

14 Jan

Hi folks ✨

Well… Yesterday & today has been a day for drama & calamities! Urgh… I’m so accident prone!!! 😩

Yesterday I was making a gorgeous low fat pasta bake… It was all going fine while the bolognese was bubbling away in the Crock pot… I part boiled the wholemeal pasta with no dramas… then I mixed it all & spread it out into a lasagne dish topped with yummy homemade low fat cheese sauce… transferred it to the oven… all fine & accident free! Then… I burn my arm as I’m taking it out of the oven… OUCHIE! 😞 Honestly it hurt so bad 😦 It’s now blistered & is all bubbled up. However… the pasta bake was yummy.

This morning began with yet more drama as I’ve not slept… at all. But, I didn’t mind since the weather man on the TV this morning promised that today would be a day of snow in the UK… You can imagine my delight when it began snowing. ❄️ I was so excited when the tiny white flakes started to drift passed the window… then the banging began… the wind had knocked the back gates off of their latch & I noticed that the newly emptied recycled boxes were starting to blow around off the bottom of the drive. So… I headed outside in my Harry Potter PJs, leopard print dressing gown & Ugg Boots… with no make up on I may add! I headed out of the back door & down the drive where the gates proceeded to clash behind me. I successfully rescued the recycling boxes but couldn’t get back into my garden as the gates at clashed & swung the wrong way & had bent the latch so I could swing them the right way. So… there I was… Crying in the snow… prego… in my PJs & freezing my backside off! I don’t know how, but I managed to squidge through the teeniest of gaps. I scraped my bump though 😦 Then I needed to somehow secure the gates… so after 20 minutes of dramatic crying (and I do cry very dramatically) I managed to secure the gates but the latch is still broken, and, while sorting the gates… my iPhone 6 plus fell out of my pocket & onto the concrete, thus smashing the screen… ace! Honestly… I’m just so gutted!!!

So I’ve spent this afternoon watching Criminal Minds & feeling sorry for myself. I’ve aired on the side of caution after last nights burny arm incident & opted for a Crock Pot meal for tea. I decided to get creative & added  load of stuff to the Crock & I’ll hope for the best… It’s all healthy though:

  • Chicken Breasts
  • Tinned Chopped Tomatoes
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • Frozen Oriental Vegetables
  • Frozen Sweetcorn
  • Piri Piri Seasoning
  • Garlic Granules

I’m hoping it’ll turn out nice… I couldn’t stand anymore drama today lol.

Yesterday I received a lovely gift package from Cleaves Candles. The wax melts are made completely of soy wax & natural botanical oils, they’re also environmentally friendly. The scents I received are:

  • Lavender
  • Angels Whisper
  • Baby Powder
  • Bedtime Bath

Once I’ve tried them all I’ll be writing a full review on each scent I’ve tried. But so far I can already say… I love them. They smell lovely even before they’ve been lit. The prices are so good too at £4 for a clamshell or £2 for a pack of 4 melts. They’d be gorgeous little favours for a wedding. It’s the first thing I thought of… Plus Wedding season is fast approaching. Check out their Facebook Page too for some Valentines themed gifts 💙

Coco also received her latest treat box from Top Collar . If you fancy ordering a box for your furbaby… simply click the embedded link & enter coupon Code: COCO to receive a totally free box! They’re gluten free & great for sensitive tummies. If Coco is impressed… then they must be good. Also… They come in a personalised box!!! They’re so cute 🐾

Righteo folks… I’m gonna leave this post here… But stay tuned for more reviews! 💕

Thanks again for reading ✨

Friday Fun and Shopping Saturday

10 Jan

Hi folks ✨

I hope you all had a great Friday? I did! My Friday began super early as I’m just not sleeping well at all… I have a lot of sciatic pain in my thighs & major hip pain. So I’m up very early everyday. My Friday began with an epic chat on the phone with my bezzie Kirsty… All we do is laugh. After our rather loooong phonecall, Mr Asda delivery man called with some shopping I’d ordered specially for Friday evening. I’d invited two of our bezzies over, Mike & Rach, Rach is coeliac so I needed some gluten free ingredients. On the menu:

  • Low fat Spag Bol. To make the sauce add: lean steak mince, pasatta, diced onion, sliced peppers, garlic & mixed herbs to the Crock Pot to cook on low all day. I’ll serve with Gluten free spaghetti.
  • Gluten free garlic bread. I made the bases myself to ensure they’re totally gluten free & I’ll use low fat mozzarella.
  • Dessert is low fat Mango Easiyo topped with fresh strawberries & a little chocolate.

So… after Mr Asda delivered food… Mr Mothercare arrived with Baby T’s SnuzPod & fitted sheets. I just cannot wait for the hubster to build it this weekend. I’m hoping some more bits will arrive this coming Monday. The box was so heavy that the delivery guy carried it through to our dinning room for me. How nice is that!? 💙

After the excitement of the SnuzPod arriving my friend Julie popped in with a gorgeous book she’d ordered for Baby T. ‘Peace at Last’ was a big favourite in their house… so she wanted Baby T to have it. It’s such a cute little story. I’ve already read it to Baby T & Coco. It’s now in his little nursery.

A lot of the day was spent doing a spot of colouring in my Harry Potter Colouring Book. I just find it so therapeutic.

After my spot of colouring in… It was time to crack on with making my gluten free garlic breads… Yikes! Now… I’m waaaaaay better at making pastry than cake… So I was kinda hoping that gluten free dough would be similar to pastry lol. It turns out that it is! My über cold hands must’ve worked their magic once again as our guests, plus Graham, loved them! I have to say too – that I can sometimes feel very bloated from eating certain breads, but this bread didn’t bloat me one little bit! I think they’re going to become a firm favourite of ours.

Friday evening was just so much fun… Very chilled out, but spent with good company. When you’re 28wks pregnant & utterly shattered all of the time… This type of evening is most definitely the new ‘going out’. ✨ And can I just say… How cute do my healthy desserts look? I used my gorgeous 99p bargain glasses from Home Bargains & filled them with low fat fruity Easiyo. Seriously… If you have never tried Easiyo then you really must. Just click the embedded link to be taken to their website for a little looksie where you’ll find an amazing sale right now! It’s so easy to make. I love my Easiyo maker, it’s one of my most used kitchen gadgets. You can also buy the Easiyo sachets from places such as The Range, Ocado & Lakeland.
Saturday became another shopping Saturday lol. I’ve decided that while I’m still able to waddle around the shops – I may as well… As I’m sure that weekend is coming come when I can waddle no more. Only until after Baby T arrives though of course 💙 Along with purchasing ridiculously glam products such as; Breast Pads & Nipple Cream…. We did buy Baby T some cute little red ‘Converse’ style shoes for his vacation to Center Parcs this Christmas & two little hats for when he’s born. Both were from Boots Mini Club. Again – amazing sale on right now.
After our spot of retail therapy purchasing my essential hospital bag bits, we popped to the Mallard in the Frenchgate for some lunch & a much needed pint of lemonade! I have to say that I really like the Mallard. It’s part of the Hungry Horse chain & the staff are so friendly! It’s lovely food & very reasonable prices. After our food we headed home. Eeeck… When we got home my Buggy Buddy Clip had arrived! I decided I really needed one for my handbag. They come in a range of colours, but I thought the black would match my travel system better.  Again… Head over to Mothercare to purchase one for yourself.
I can’t wait for my travel system to arrive… You should expect lots of pictures with a full on in depth review 💙

The hubster built our SnüzPod on Saturday evening. I’m literally in love with it 💙 He said the instructions were easy to follow – unlike some flat pack items you buy. It’s so well made & very sturdy. It’s just utterly gorgeous ✨
I also bought he SnüzPod branded fitted sheets & blanket. Purely as I didn’t know how other fitted crib sheets would fit it & I didn’t want the sheets to wrinkle under Baby T… We all know how a wrinkled sheet can feel when you’re trying to get a goodnights sleep. You may think the SnüzPod is a little pricey as its more expensive than most Moses baskets… But you can use this until around 6 month, it allows to safely sleep next to your baby, with the height adjustments you can eliminate bending if like me you’re going to be recovering from a C-Section, &… If you head over to the Mothercare website you’ll find it on offer for £179.95 with free delivery AND that includes the mattress too! Most places I had initially looked at were charging anywhere from £50+ for the mattress.

After the excitement of getting the Snüz built, we literally vegged in front of the TV glued to Ninja Warrior & Take Me Out lol. We did have a lovely healthy Lamb Madras for tea though… Another Crock Pot Sensation!

  • Frozen Diced Lamb
  • 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • Frozen Sliced Peppers
  • Frozen Spinach
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Granules
  • 1 Tsp Madras Powder

Cook on low all day – you may need to thicken with some tomato purée before serving. I served alongside basmati rice… Nom!

That in a nutshell… Or a blog post…. Was Fun Friday & Shopping Saturday.  And guess what…? I think today is going to be Shopping Sunday! We’re off to Scunthorpe to tackle Dunelm, Marks & Sparks & Boots. So I’ll let you all know what utter bargain-ness gems I find! ✨

Thanks for reading… I really do appreciate it!!! And if you’d like me to review any products for you – you can contact me at ixxypoco@gmail.com  ✨

Barking Mad for Bark Beats!

30 Dec

Hi folks 🐾

Well… 2 days before Christmas, Coco received the most gorgeous Christmas box from Bark Beats. The box was actually bigger than her lol… But then she is a teeny weeny 1lb 7oz Teacup Chihuahua.

img_8247

Needless to say she was completely giddy about the box… I think her favourite part was the ZippyPaws plush squeaky toy. It’s such a well made toy… It’s withstood some harsh beatings from Coco & it still looks perfect. The box also comprised of lots of yummy treats to tuck into:

  • Pupbake Cupcake in Turkey flavour & topped with a little bone shaped cookie
  • A freshly baked doggy friendly gingerbread man
  • Fresh baked Christmas cookies
  • Tribal biscuits enriched with Vitamin E

Coco has taken her time to try & taste every single treat & has told me that her favourite snack was the Dakis cookies. They’re freshly baked with doggy friendly ingredients. They had a good crunch to them & she found them incredibly moreish. Normally, Coco squirrels her favourite treats away for safe keeping… but this time she just ate them straight away! She couldn’t get enough of them!

From a furbaby parent point of view – the Bark Beats Box is beautifully presented. The box itself is well made & some with shredded paper packaging & wrapped in a piece of tissue. It looks like a lovely gift. You could easily gift this to a family member or friend for their furbaby. The overall feel is ‘good quality’. A little more fancy than what you can buy at your local pet shop. Bark Beats are a doggy loving company who give 10% of their profits to good causes. Each box for every month will include yummy treats along with a fun toy toy to keep your furbaby amused.

All in all the Bark Beats box is a fantastic treat for your precious pooches!!! It’s a no commitment subscription box. The box Coco received is £19 per month, but right now you can get 50% off your first box by using coupon code: BOX5. Subscribe here. They’re a fantastic gift for a special occasion or for simply treating your furbaby. The boxes come in 3 different sizes depending on the size of your doggy. Shipping is completely free & will come via Royal Mail.

On behalf of Coco… I can’t recommend this box enough.

Top Collar are Top Notch!

23 Dec

Hi Folks ✨

As you all know – Coco is recovering from surgery… so she’s been feeling a little down in the dumps. Well, you can imagine her glee when a gorgeous box of treats arrived from Top Collar! Coco was so excited when the box arrived… She spotted herself on the front of the personalised box & she could smell the yumminess within 🎁

The treats are home baked then posted shortly after… so they’re super fresh. All ingredients are healthy & fully gluten free. Coco was sent the Christmas Dinner treats. Now, Coco is a fussy little lady & is very hard to impress… but she snaffled up one the treats in minutes. Coco is a very small Chihuahua – she only weighs 1lb 7oz. I had every intention of breaking one of the biscuits in half… before I could she’d snatched the whole thing & gobbled it all up. The biscuits are very soft in texture – so will easily break up for smaller doggies. Coco hasn’t long had 4 baby teeth removed & she could eat them no problem. So for older doggies with delicate mouths – these treats are ideal!

I’ve been give a coupon code to use that will allow you to order your first box for free! Yep that’s right… Free!!! Simply order here then add coupon code: ALLBOXES Now your precious pooches can try a box for free!!!! How good is that!?

It’s nice to find a treat for our doggies that’s homemade & delicate enough for sensitive tummies.

 Coco would definitely recommend 🐾

Hark the Herald Angels Sing

21 Dec

Hi Folks ✨

Today is mine & the hubsters 4th Wedding Anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been 4 year since I walked down the aisle to “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”. But then again in some ways it seems longer… Purely because of everything we’ve had to deal with since we got married.

During the last 4 years… I’ve undergone 6 surgeries & my hubster has been there by my side during every single one. He’s been amazing during my recovery. He’s also been there & supported me during my weightloss journey too. When he met me I was a UK size 10… when he married me I was a UK size 24… I got down to a UK size 12… & now I’m pregnant I’m a bump-a-licious size 14/16. So he’s literally loved me at every size. I have no doubt he’ll be there for me when I’m losing my baby weight. We’ve been though a lot… but it’s made us even more close. I’m just so excited to start our new chapter with our little boy 💙

Even at 26wks pregnant I’m lighter & thinner than I was on my hen party!

I never in a million years thought we’d be in the position to be getting ready to have our little boy. With the size I had become then with my last 3 operations… I just thought it was going to be an impossible dream to achieve. I just feel so lucky 🍀

The hubster had to work today… so I had a quiet day at home with Coco. She was super excited when a package arrived for her from Top CollarTop Collar are a fantastic company who bake fresh, healthy dog treats. Coco will be passing on her thoughts to me so I can write a full review of their yummy treats. But on first impressions… Coco seemed well impressed… & she’s one hard pooch to please!

One mini victory achieved today… I ate cereal! Since becoming pregnant I’ve really not fancied cereal at all… but this morning I had some Alpen granola & really enjoyed it. I’m glad as you can’t beat cereal for a simple hassle free breakfast.

I also tried my new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani make up palette this morning too. I absolutely love it!!! I used Pop & Blackout as my chosen shades. I have Naked 1,2 & 3 along with Naked Smoky… I have to say that this one is by far my favourite. Priced at £40 it’s such a good buy… 15 shades for this price. There’s no fall out from the shadows & the longevity of the shadow is fantastic. I can’t believe the hubster surprised me with this gift.

More work has been done tonight on my up & coming website! It’s starting to look really good… I’m so happy with it. You’ll be able to find it at: www.hayleythorne.co.uk once it goes live. For now that link will just direct you straight back to this blog. Eeeeeck it’s a bit exciting. For now, if anyone would like to contact me about reviews you can contact me via: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or email me at: IxxyPoco@gmail.com The website will feature all of my social channels & I’ll be hosting reviews on their too… along with this blog. So everything will be in one place altogether making it a lot more neat & tidy.

So… for our first Wedding Anniversary spent at home we’ve opted for a snuggly date night with Dominoes Pizza & I’m on the pink lemonade since I can’t drink proper sparkles. Normally we’d be going away for a night or two to celebrate… But decided that this year we’d stay at home with me being up & down with pregnancy related sickness & now also with Coco recovering from her operation.

Coco was sent a gorgeous little gift off Rachel who works with my hubster… a gorgeous little peach knit scarf. I had to open it as Coco started to nibble through the paper… she blatantly knew it was for her. She looks so gorgeous in it all wrapped up. Thank you so much Rachel!!!

Well… I’m gonna leave this post right there.

Thanks again for reading!

Love & Huggles,
