I May Not Be Perfect… But At Least My Eyebrows Are!

1 Oct

Hi folks,

I’m so happy that it’s finally Autumn… October is one of my most favourite months. I love crunchy golden leaves under foot, a chill in the air & the excitement of the party season fast approaching. I simply cannot believe that this month I will have a 1 year old & a 3 year old. How on earth is Ted almost a year old!? He started walking last month!!! Walking at 10 month… he’s so clever.

So, I’ve been wanting to write this blog post since January… but I’ve just been so busy & not gotten round to it. But… here it is. My eyebrow journey!!! As most of you know – I’ve had my eyebrows micro bladed. I can honestly say that this it is the BEST thing I’ve ever done cosmetically.

From years of over plucking… my eyebrows were just a state. I used to paint them in each day.

With all of the over plucking, my eyebrows had just simply stopped growing. It wasn’t too bad when I had a full face of make up on, as I’d draw them in. But, if I was having a no make up day (which is so rare for me) I’d just feel so self conscious. It’d be even worse while on holiday & in the pool with the kids… I’d just want to hide & cry about my face & the lack of eyebrows. It seems to trivial doesn’t it? But your eyebrows frame your face. It was such a big thing for me.

I started getting my nails done at Ruby Red in January 2018. While having my nails done, I just happened to mention that I’d toyed with the idea of having my eyebrows micro bladed. That’s when Jo, told me that she actually did micro blading. She gave me all the facts, broke down the process & how it all works. She also told me, not to rush into it, to really think about it all etc… well… that very same month… I got pregnant with Ted. So, microblading was off the cards for a wee while. Over the year I got to know Jo so well & she has become one of my most favourite people. Becoming such good friends with Jo, really helped me to make the decision to have my eyebrows done.

So… my first piece of advice… really research your beautician. Ask to see photo’s of their work. Have a consultation. Have your eyebrows mapped. Discuss any concerns. Discuss the shape & thickness. And DO NOT rush into anything. This is a semi permanent procedure that will be on your face. You need to be happy, at ease & 100% confident.

Eyebrow journey

At my consultation I had my eyebrows properly mapped & measured & I also had a dye test to make sure I had no allergies & to also colour match the dye. I opted for a much thicker & fuller brow. I have big eyes… cow eyes as my lovely hubster calls them lol. He assures me this a complement lol. I wanted quite big, full, natural looking brows with a nice arch. After going away for a week or so, I went back for my first sitting. With microblading, you’ll have your first sitting & then a few weeks later you have your top up. Its totally normal to lose a few strokes in your brows after your first sitting.

First of all… the first thing I’m asked:

Does it hurt? Yes… but not like a tattoo. I found it to feel more like a graze. It’s fine in the beginning… but toward the end of the brow, it’ll sting. My eyes watered a lot. You will have some numbing cream though… so really do not worry about the pain.

Can you wear make up straight away? Yes… as long as you don’t go on the eyebrow area.

How long does the scabbing last? Everyone is different… my scabbing lasted around 10 days. My scabbing looked more like dry skin. Most of it was gone after 7 days. But I had a few areas that were still there. So I opted to keep my eye brows dry until all of the scabbing was gone. The advice is to keep eyebrows dry for a week. But I didn’t want to force any scabbing away. My saviour was my Liz Earle Cleansing Cloth.

Eyebrow journey

It allowed me to give my face a good scrub & cleanse… while avoiding my eyebrows. Yes, during this period your eyebrows can look a little unkempt if you really look. But just make sure you get them done when you’ve nothing major planned… like a wedding etc… It does not last forever & the results are worth it.

Once the scabbing has gone… you can wear your make up & wash your face like you normally would.

Now… I have to admit that after a few days… I initially freaked out one evening. I started to panic as the ink will become quite dark due to the scabbing. When you’ve gone from no eyebrows – to full on brows, it can take a while to get used to them. Also, as I’m so dark, I had the darkest dye. After my slight wobble… I loved them. Life is so much easier when you have brows.

Eyebrow journey

After my top up… I was even more in love with them!!! They were full, dark & just perfect. They suited my face so much.

Getting ready on a morning is much quicker. When I have a full of face of make up, I do lightly shade them in. But that is just my personal choice. I cut them in with my concealer & foundation & then I use a Make Up Revolution Eyebrow Pencil. But because I already have the brow there… it’s so quick & easy. Literally takes minutes.

So… what do my brows look like now? Have they lasted?

Eyebrow journey

YES!!! They’re still amazing. And… do you know what else is utterly amazing??? My own eyebrows have actually started to grow! They’ve not grown for years. I’m wondering if maybe somehow, the trauma of the micro blading has stimulated the roots?

I am due a top up in January, & I simply cannot wait. In some ways I wish I’d had them done years ago. But then I’m also glad I didn’t, as I may not have found Jo. I’m so glad that she was the one to do them.

If you are in the Yorkshire area & you’re considering microblading… contact Jo at Ruby Red. She’s AMAZING!!! A true artist. I have linked their Facebook page, where you will find all of their contact details.

Before I go… I just want to leave you this:

Literally all of the brow emotions you will go through lol.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post & you’ve found it interesting. If you’re considering micro blading – book that consultation!!!

Thank you as always for reading!

Looking Good Without Breaking the Bank!

9 Aug

Hi folks,

These days… we’re all on a budget… saving a few pennies wherever we can. So who wouldn’t want to look good on a budget? Everywhere we look we’re inundated with stunning celebs & models with perfect hair. I mean… does anyone have the perfect hair… naturally? I know I certainly don’t. Especially in this hot, humid weather! Well actually, by little boy has pretty perfect hair… but that’s beside the point.

Anyway… looking good on a budget. Who can remember when I reviewed She Hair UK last year? Well, for anyone who can’t remember & hasn’t heard of them… here’s a little background; Shehair, hair straighteners are manufactured by Unil Electronics Corporation – the ORIGINAL manufactures of the GHD hair straighteners brand 2001 to 2008! That’s right… the manufacturers of the original GHD iron. Below is my review from last year.

I was so excited when they got in touch again for me to review them. So… 1 year on & they’re still my favourite hair styling brand. They make 4 different irons:

I’ve embedded the links so you can read more & find out where to buy them. I love love love the pink ones… but I’m very much a pink girly girl.

The first thing you’ll notice when heading on over to their website is that they’re retailing for £54.99… that’s like half the price of the more well known brands!!! Normally when you need to invest in new hair irons you need to save up a bit… you have that inner convo with yourself about should you really be splurging right now? But at a price like that, you can buy a luxury without the guilt!

Now… as you all know I have super thick & super long hair that is very curly & frizzy naturally. My hair is much longer now than what is shown in the youtube video above that I did over a year ago. I shall enclose a before & after pic below. I have tried most of the big brand straighteners & none of them grip my hair the way I want them too. Instead they tend to snag & pull which isn’t good. The She straightener just grips & glides smoothly. My hair is so poker straight & shiny after using them.

I used the wide plate straighteners in the above pic. It took around 40mins from start to finish. Normally I’d be looking at over an hour with a pair of Cloud 9’s. For me, as a busy Mammy… any time saving is a winner. On a morning I’m looking at like 5mins maximum to get rid of any waves. But I wash my hair once a week & straighten from scratch. I only wash once a week, as my hair just does not go greasy. I put that down to how thick it is.

£54.99 sounds like a good deal doesn’t it? Well… what if I told you that right now you can get a further £10 off using the discount code: Summer ? I mean come on… £44.99 with FREE DELIVERY! Treat yourself & everyone else! The £10 off is for a limited time only… so get in there while its on! Hey, you could even stock up & buy some in as gifts for Christmas. You can access the web shop here.

So… not only is there £10 off right now with the above discount code, but they’re also running a competition on their social media pages to win a pair of Ice White Straighteners. But you’d best enter sharpish, as again it’s only on for a limited time! You can find them on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. You can enter as many times as you like!!! Closing date is 22/08/18.

So… what are you waiting for!!!!? Get buying! 🙂

Thank you as always for reading & I hope you’ve enjoyed this review.

So Eco

21 Mar

Hi folks

I have another little review for you… all about Beauty & being Eco Friendly. I was sent a Stippling Brush from So Eco. Now, for anyone who isn’t familiar with So Eco… here’s a little background… So Eco is a range of ‘Eco Friendly’ make up brushes, with unique emphasis on components being 100% responsibly & ethically sourced. The problems of excessive packaging has been heavily featured in the media, waste reduction targets & the environmental legacy that products create are factors we must all address. All of their brushes are; Cruelty Free, Vegan & Vegetarian Friendly, Handcut & Trimmed & are Unbelievably Soft.

The brush I was sent is suitable for use with powder & liquid make up. I decided to use it with my blush/bronzer. I’ve never tried the whole contouring thing… I’m just a little scared I’ll end up looking like a clown. So I go with the age old, tried & tested method of just using a little bronzer & a little blush to create some shape to my face & bring out some colour where it’s needed. This brush worked superbly! The angle/cut of the brush is perfect for shading in the hollow of your cheek. The colours of the bristles are brilliant, as you can see perfectly just how much product is on there.

Knowing that the product is so eco friendly too is an added bonus. No plastic packaging being added to landfill. Made from recycled & sustainable materials that are compostable, recyclable & biodegradable. The handle is made from bamboo which is an ecologically sustainable material. The packaging is FSC approved. The window is made from corn starch & is held together using water based adhesives & printed using vegetable inks.

These lovely brushes are very affordable. Amazon currently have a set on Prime for £15!!! If online shopping isn’t your thing… then you can buy instore from: Tesco & Bodycare. Good make up brushes normally set you back quite a lot, but these lovely brushes are very easy on the purse strings which is always a nice little sweetener!

I shall finish off with So Eco’s mantra:

The world is a beautiful place, so lets keep it that way

Thank you as always for reading!

“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself” Coco Chanel

22 May

Evening Peeps,

I saw this quote on a friends Facebook Page

There’s just something about this that I love. It’s so true… So many people feel like they need to portray a certain persona. You should always strive to be your true self. I’m so glad I named my furbaby after Coco Chanel.

It’s so nice knowing that we have a Bank Holiday weekend ❤️ In celebration of being a Friday & a Bank Holiday…  I decided to use my Dior eye makeup palette for the first time.

I paired it with my most favourite shade & brand of lipstick: Mac – Chattebox.

I’ve never used Dior eye make up before – it went on so well.

For breakfast I decided to go with the same as yesterday’s choice: Hard Boiled Egg, Cooked Ham & Baked Beans

 It was super yummy.

I had a lovely short day at work & finished at 12:20. I came home to find this little pickle snoozing

I may not have a ‘human’ baby… But I have the most gorgeous furbaby & I love her with all of my heart.

I spent this afternoon catching up on Hollyoaks… Reading Elle & Elle Decoration & doing some work for my Social Media business. I like to keep busy & feel as though I’m developing & progressing. I just want to expand to my full potential & feel as though I’m achieving something.

I decided to get into the spirit of ‘lazy’ Friday afternoon & donned my University Centre Doncaster hoodie to lounge around in.

After taking this pic I realised just how long my hair has gotten lately! I’m all about the long locks.

I got a little creative in the kitchen & decided to try something new for tea… Chilli Dogs… But healthy.

The Quorn hot dogs are actually so nice & taste just like a normal hot dog but waaaaaaay lower in fat. Only 55 Calories & 0.2g Sat Fat. I used a homemade low fat beef chilli for the topping & 20g lowfat cheddar cheese shared over two hotdogs. I made the wedges by cutting tinned potatoes into wedges & spraying with garlic infused FryLight & baking. It was so super tasty.

I may have had a few glass of Pinto Grigio this evening to… Ooooopsie!

It was rather yum! I love sitting at our new dining table & drinking wine… I just look around at our gorgeous spacious home & smile. We’ve never had so much room & so much brand new furniture. I’m just so proud with the progress we’ve made in such a short space of time. We’ve still got some decorating to do… But that can wait until the weather is that little bit nicer so we can leave the doors open to let things dry off.

We’re planning on doing some housewares shopping tomorrow… We’d really like another floor lamp & a table lamp. So ,of an evening we can create more of a cosy ambience. I shall keep you posted on any purchases made.

We’re also heading over to Paul & Anna’s for sparkles tomorrow evening… I wonder if they’ll have the Eurovision Song Contest on? ☺️

I’m looking to the future a lot lately… Smiling about all the sparkly things to come… “Good things come to those who wait”… apparently

So I shall sign off there & leave you guys to enjoy the rest of your evening.

Thank you so much again for reading ☺️

Love & Huggles,

Hayley ❤️ xxx
