Football Fever!

21 Jun

Hi folks,

There’s no getting away from the football fever that is upon us right now. You literally can’t go anywhere without World Cup Football Fever 🙂 I have to admit though… I do love it. And Seth… well, he utterly adores it!

Seth recently joined Mini Kicks. I know he’s only little, but he simply adores kicking a ball. He loves watching it too. We thought it’d be such a great way to boost his confidence, help him to make new friends & to also help with building his coordination & other physical skills. He’s absolutely thriving & he just adores his coaches.

So… What would be the perfect car seat to travel to & from footie training? Of course, bearing in mind that safety comes first… but it doesn’t hurt to look good while you travel too…

Joie have partnered with Liverpool Football Club to bring out a stunning range of products. Seth has the Joie Every Stage FX in the red LFC design. It’s stunning & just utterly perfect. Funny story… when this was delivered – the delivery guy had a full on conversation with me on where he could buy a one lol. He literally went back to his van to go order one on his smart phone. Love it.

So… let’s get the technical stuff out the way first… this is literally the only car seat you’ll ever need. It’s effectively 4 seats in 1! This is a 0+/1/2/3 Stage Car Seat, rear facing from birth to 18kg & forward facing from 9kg to 36kg. When rear facing this is secured via the car seat belt. When forward facing in group 1 , this seat has easy & exact ISOFIX installation. When you progress round to 2/3 for high back booster mode there is an easy ISOSAFE connection. So you can rest easy knowing that this car seat is rock solid & isn’t go anywhere.

What are the features?

▪ Group 0+/1/2/3 car seat

▪ Suitable rearward facing from birth to 18kg/4 years

▪ Suitable forward facing from 9kg to 36kg/12 years

▪ 6 recline positions: 2 rear facing and 4 forward facing

▪ Easy installation with ISOFIX and top tether when using in forward facing group 1 mode

▪ Side impact protection provides added security for the head, body, and hips

▪ Guard Surround Safety™ panels provide extra side protection and fold into seat when not in use

▪ One-hand, 10 position height adjustable headrest

▪ AutoAdjust™ side wings widen as headrest is raised to accommodate growing children

▪ Reinforced steel inner seat shell increases structural integrity

▪ 3 piece flexible insert system includes an infant head support, infant body support, and infant wedge – all customisable for the ultimate fit at every stage

▪ Grow Together™ multi-height headrest and harness system adjust simultaneously and require no re-threading of harness

▪ Custom Harness Hideaway™ compartments store the 5-point harness when using as a Group 2/3 booster

▪ Plush, deluxe cushioning and fabrics

▪ Built in side ventilation

▪ Side, mesh storage pockets for child’s must-have travel items

▪ Well marked, colour-coded installation paths

▪ Dual lock-offs for installing with vehicle’s 3-point seat belt

▪ BabySoft 5-point harness with shoulder and lower buckle covers

▪ One pull motion easily tightens the 5-point harness

How much does it cost I hear you ask!? This car seat retails for around £250. Now, that may seem pricey, but when you think that this literally goes from birth to 12yrs… it’s such a bargain! Amazing investment. This is the ONLY car seat you will EVER need!

Neither mine or my husbands family live near us, so we seem to be frequently travelling a good old distance to visit people. This car seat is just so perfect for those long journeys… safe… secure & comfortable.

With regards to installation… I did leave this in the capable hands of my darling husband. He did, however tell me that it was super easy to do. I shall leave this video here to talk you through the installation.

So overall… we just can’t get enough of this carseat. It’s comfy, we love the football badge – my hubby is from Liverpool so it’s like his ideal choice. Its comfortable, it gives you the freedom of choice with regard to rear & forward facing. Only YOU know what is right for you & your little one. For us, everything is perfect… even the little side pockets. They’re perfect for holding that precious cuddly toy & drinks cup for long journeys.

I do hope that you’ve found this review interesting & useful.

Thanks so much as always for reading!

Foodie Fun with the Must-Have Highchair!

31 Jul

Hi folks,

So… you know what it’s like when you get too giddy & throw yourself into impulse buys without thinking first. Well… that’s what we did with our high chair purchase. Not long after Seth was born… so waaaaay before he was ready for weaning, we immediately went out to buy a highchair. I think we were just too giddy about being new parents & couldn’t help but have this need to buy then & there. The highchair we bought was the Cosatto Noodle Supa in the C Rex design. Now… this wasn’t a really bad highchair… but… we didn’t really do our research. We went for pretty & funky over function & usability. Once Seth was at weaning age… I did start to pick quite a few holes in the functionality of this highchair & there was lots I would’ve changed about it. Always always always do your research! I wish I’d had our new highchair from the beginning…

We’ve been having lots of fun with our new highchair from Joie. We have the new Multiply 6in1 Highchair. This highchair is the only thing you’ll need for weaning/meal times… here’s why…

  • 6 modes including baby mode highchair, traditional highchair, booster, portable booster, toddler chair and play table
  • 5 height adjustments
  • Seat and frame fold compactly and stand when folded
  • Extra large tray with one-hand release
  • 4 position adjustable tray with cupholder
  • Full coverage dishwasher safe tray insert doubles as a placemat
  • Clever tray storage on back legs
  • 3 position seat recline
  • Removable, washable, soft infant insert
  • Removable, wipeable seat pad
  • 3 position height adjustable footrest
  • Integrated wheels on front legs
  • SoftTouch, 5-point harness

The removable tray is a Godsend. Seth is 16 month & we’re trying very hard now with plates, bowls & cutlery… but sometimes the plates end up on the floor. So the removable tray is ideal for when they’re still not fully using a bowl or a plate. The fact it is dishwasher safe too is just fantastic.

The straps also remove really easy for cleaning & soaking. A high chair that is easy to clean is an absolute must. I’ve found this chair extremely user friendly. I use the chair in our dining room & our lounge, which means I am moving it around the house a lot – it’s really light & easy to move. Even with my back problem, I have found it super easy to lift & manouvre. The wheels on the front are fab!

Storage-wise this highchair is really good. The tray comes off with one hand release & clips straight on to the back via a cross bar on the legs. Then you can fold in the chair via two release buttons so it’s more slimline to either stand upright in a large cupboard, utility room or to either tuck to onesie in your dining room. It’s extremely easy to use. In fact… one thing that I did forget to mention is that I put the whole thing together when it first arrived. I literally took it out of the box… read the instructions… & popped it all together! I NEVER build anything. I’m just not good at it. But this is so user friendly – that even I could do it!

I’m going to be reviewing this item over & over again, as… it grows with Seth!!! So… when we start using it as a separate table & chair – expect another review! The amazing thing is that we’ll be able to use it for snacks, meals & activities too. It’s such a good investment! Especially when you take into consideration that you can take the seat part off the frame & use as a travel high chair. Amazing!!!

We can also safely say that the comfort aspect of this highchair is top notch… since Seth even likes to fall asleep in it.

Thank you so much for reading & I hope you’ve found this review useful!

More Mirus Magic

27 Jun

Hi folks

As you all know, we’ve been on a little seaside getaway. I love holidaying in the UK. Especially with having a 15 month old… it just seems easier to me to holiday here. We can pack the car up with all of our essentials without having to think about baggage allowances. I just would not know where to start if I had to pack for Seth with having a baggage allowance hanging over my head. He has so much stuff that he seems to need every single day.

One of my most favourite everyday essential items is our trusty Joie Mirus. I know I have reviewed my Mirus before… but I just felt like I needed to talk about it again as it literally is the best stroller I have had… & I have had lots! Plus, when I am on social media the one question that seems to crop up time & time again is; “What buggy do I buy?” The Mirus! You buy the Mirus!

So… why? Why buy the Mirus? I use Seth’s buggy everyday. He does like to walk a little now, but his little legs get tired so quickly, so I always have my buggy for when he’s tired. The Mirus is super lightweight. Even with my back problem, I can fold this buggy with one hand & pop straight into the car. Yes that’s right… one hand fold! Every other pram or stroller I have had has required both hands. This is ideal for popping out & about in the car. I can actually lift this with one hand & pop straight into the boot. We have a Hyundai i30, so not a super big car & there’s still plenty room leftover for shopping. However, when we go away on holiday, we tend to pop this in the backseat footwell. When the Mirus is folded it stands upright. So it easily stands in the footwell. This means your whole boot is then left for luggage! Also, when at home I leave my buggy folded in the porch. It’s slimline so there’s still plenty of room. You can also fold it up when you’re dining out… so handy in busy restaurants.

I never liked the idea of having a stroller for holiday & a stroller for home. Seth likes his creature comforts – just like his Mammy 🙂 So, when he’s on holiday he wants his comfy Mirus. He adored long walks by the sea after funtime playtime on the beach. Well… I think he only stayed awake for all of 5mins. Seth falls asleep all of the time in the Mirus. In fact… if I want him to nap, I just take him out for a little walk & he’s soon nodded off. The Mirus has a lovely big hood to shade him from the Sun on hot Summer days. There are also lovely side bits on the headrest to stop your little ones head lolling off the side which could hurt their neck. You can also recline the seat. The Mirus will fully recline to a laying down position which makes it suitable from birth. You can also switch the push bar position to make it either rear or forward facing. I’ve only ever used it in a forward facing position with Seth being older.

The basket underneath has plenty room for your rain cover (Just in case!), changing bag, cardigan, snacks, shopping etc… The beauty of this buggy is that it’s well made & looks bulky & comfy, yet it’s super light weight & actually really slim. I can get into any shop & get down the aisles without causing utter mayhem lol. I’ve seen so many other parents getting wedged in an aisle because their buggy or pram is really wide. Another fab feature is the anti scuff brake No one likes a scuffed toe on their shoe. This brake works by rolling your foot back or forward. No toe flicking.

For me… this buggy just has it all… easy to use… comfortable… safe… & lightweight. We also have a Joie carseat. I reviewed the Joie Every Stage FX a little while back… I shall be reviewing again very soon as this is another thing that crops up all of the time; ‘What car seat do I buy?’. So keep your peepers pealed for that one! But, if you haven’t read my previous review, read it here.

Thank you so much for reading & I hope you’ve found this review useful.

Finding the Perfect Car Seat

24 May

Hi folks,

So… Let’s talk car seats. What an utter mine field Car Seat shopping can be. Especially since the law regarding car seats & booster cushions has changed this year. You can view the official government guidelines here.
When you leave hospital, you leave with your newborn baby in their infant carrier. Buying an infant carrier is relatively easy. I mean, usually you purchase a full travel system anyways. So you’ve probably gotten your baby carrier as part of a set. You click your prescious bundle in & out of the car via an ISOFIX base & you’re sorted. But… what do you do when they start outgrowing their baby carrier!? What do you buy? Do you buy a rear facing seat only to discard it when you start forward facing? Do you begin forward straight away when your bambino reaches 9kg even though you feel nervous about it? Do you need an ISOFIX base? Or do you just secure with a car seat belt? So many questions… so much choice… where do you start!?

Well… here’s the answer… The Every Stage FX Car Seat by Joie.

This car seat is an utter game changer. This is literally the only car seat you will ever need! This car seat is literally 4 seats in 1. This is a 0+/1/2/3 Stage car seat, rear facing from birth to 18kg & forward facing from 9kg to 36kg. When rear facing this seat is secured via the car seat belt. When forward facing in group 1, this seat has easy & exact ISOFIX installation. When you progress to groups 2/3 for high back booster mode there is an easy ISOSAFE connection. So you can rest easy knowing that this car seat is rock solid.

What are the features?

  • Group 0+/1/2/3 car seat
  • Suitable rearward facing from birth to 18kg/4 years
  • Suitable forward facing from 9kg to 36kg/12 years
  • 6 recline positions: 2 rear facing and 4 forward facing
  • Easy installation with ISOFIX and top tether when using in forward facing group 1 mode
  • Side impact protection provides added security for the head, body, and hips
  • Guard Surround Safety™ panels provide extra side protection and fold into seat when not in use
  • One-hand, 10 position height adjustable headrest
  • AutoAdjust™ side wings widen as headrest is raised to accommodate growing children
  • Reinforced steel inner seat shell increases structural integrity
  • 3 piece flexible insert system includes an infant head support, infant body support, and infant wedge – all customisable for the ultimate fit at every stage
  • Grow Together™ multi-height headrest and harness system adjust simultaneously and require no re-threading of harness
  • Custom Harness Hideaway™ compartments store the 5-point harness when using as a Group 2/3 booster
  • Plush, deluxe cushioning and fabrics
  • Built in side ventilation
  • Side, mesh storage pockets for child’s must-have travel items
  • Well marked, colour-coded installation paths
  • Dual lock-offs for installing with vehicle’s 3-point seat belt
  • BabySoft 5-point harness with shoulder and lower buckle covers
  • One pull motion easily tightens the 5-point harness

So… you’ve read the technical bit… but is it comfy? Well, you all know that Seth is a little fussy scamp – but he seems rather happy with his new seat. He’s giggled in it, had snacks in it & even had a nap in it. With the click recline system it’s perfect for the younger bambinos to be able to snooze without hurting their necks. Both mine & my hubster’s family do not live near us – so we quite often go on road trips to visit. This seat is perfect for longer car journeys. We’re actually off on holiday next week – so I’ll be sure to give you a vacation review of it. Along with our much loved Mirus pushchair – also from Joie

So… how much does it cost? This car seat retails for around £250. Now, that may seem pricey, but when you think that this literally goes from birth to 12yrs… it’s such a bargain! Amazing investment. This is the ONLY car seat you will EVER need. Put it this way… if we have another baby… this will be our travel essential!

Installation… I left that in the capable hands of my hubster. But here’s a handy video

I really do love this carseat as it has everything… even down to little side pockets for those all important essentials. I feel confident & happy with this carseat… Seth is comfy & cosy… & it looks nice! I mean, I know that safety has to come to before what looks good… but it’s a total bonus when you can have it all. But seriously… this car seat allows you to choose when you want to begin forward facing. It’s such a hot topic. Only ‘you’ know what is best & right for your baby. This seat gives you that freedom to choose.

So please stay tuned for more reviews of this fabulous carseat. Like I said – we’re off on holiday next week so I shall be writing up another review when we get back, along with an update on our Mirus.

Thanks so much as always for reading & I hope you’ve found this review useful!

Travelling with Mirus

26 Mar

Hi folks

As you all know – it was Seth’s first birthday last week. Eeeeeck! So, to make his birthday a little more special, we decided to take him away to Center Parcs for a little birthday holiday. We had such an amazing time.

Holidaying with babies is much different than when it’s just you & your partner. I mean… I thought I packed a lot of stuff before, but when you have kids its a whole new ball game! There’s just so much to pack! Since we don’t have a transit van, we have to neatly pack everything into our Hyundai i30… Clothing, Travel Cot, Buggy, Toys, Toiletries etc… I can’t tell you how nice it is to have a buggy that will fold (using only 1 hand) into a standing position that can sit in the footwell of the backseat leaving the whole boot free. Well… if you like the sound of that… buy the Joie Mirus. If you’re reading this having a bit of a Ground Hog day experience… yes…I have already reviewed the Mirus. But, I did promise you all that I’d continue to review the Mirus so I can cover every single little detail.

  • What did I love about Mirus whilst holidaying?

The best thing about the Mirus is how light it is but how substantial it is. So, when you’re on holiday, you don’t have room for your big bulky travel system as well as everything else you need to bring along with you. Well, we don’t anyways. So this buggy will fold using one hand & will comfortably fit in the footwell of our back seat. But for all it’s super light & very user friendly, it actually looks quite big once it’s folded out & Seth is sat in it. He also finds it super comfortable. You can full recline the seat & also, on the side of the headrest there are padded flaps either side so if your little one falls asleep with their head to the side they have support. The hood is always great for those unexpected Sunny days too. No need to carry a buggy parasol around with you for that just in case sunshine moment… the hood on the Mirus is so big that it’ll curve right over & pull right down to keep the sun off your little one.

  • Are there any special benefits?

YES!!! We eat out a lot, not just on holiday. But obviously while we were away – we ate out every single day. In restaurants you’re always limited for space, & once you have a highchair at the table & your buggy & all the bags you have to lug around with you when you’re a Mammy… you just feel like you’re hogging the whole place. So… how fab would it be to have a lovely little buggy that you can easily fold in seconds & tuck away snuggly to free up some space? I can’t even count how many restaurant staff said to me how brilliant our buggy was. Literally… one hand, click… it’s folded! No fancy footwork needed to press peddles… no fumbling around pulling levels & pressing buttons. One Mammy actually came up to me in Hucks Diner & asked what make our buggy was… where could she buy a one & how much. She was mega excited to get home & order one lol.

  • Could we live without it?

NO! As most of you know – I’ve had numerous surgeries on my back & on my right leg. I can’t really manage anything too heavy & too clunky. Our little Mirus is superb on going up & down curbs. Pushing it through Sherwood Forest on grass, paths, gravel, wood chip… you name it… it was a doddle. The basket is super spacious too for a buggy. So I’m able to pop Seth’s back pack in there no problem along with rain cover & any shopping I’ve picked up along the way. I’ve also got myself a buggy buddy clip to hang my handbag on. The push bar is comfortable & just a nice width too. Also, don’t forget that you can move the push bar to switch between forward & rear facing. I use our Mirus forward facing purely because Seth is super nosey lol.

Let’s talk money… surely something so convenient & fantastical must cost a fortune? WRONG! The Mirus retails for around £120. You can buy from places such as: Boots, Babies R Us, Kiddicare, Mothercare etc… Right now Mothercare have the Mirus on offer for £80! I spotted that this weekend.

If you’re looking for an everyday buggy that’s affordable, great for holidays & isn’t too big & bulky… this is for you!

I hope you’ve found this review useful!

Thanks so much for reading,

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx

Meet Mirus

22 Feb

Hi folks,

Last week we received a beautiful Cherry Red Mirus pushchair from Joie. We’ve had lots of fun giving it a test drive. I’ve decided though, that rather than doing a one off review… I’m going to continue a rolling review. That way, I can give a good review on all aspects of it. I mean let’s face it… Pushchairs aren’t exactly pocket change, so you want to know that you’re getting the best value for your money possible. So… this post is all about my initial findings, then in 3 weeks time, we shall be taking Mirus to Centre Parcs with us. Also… Summer is fast approaching, so I shall be taking Mirus to lots of family days out to the seaside, farm & wildlife park! I’m also going to test drive it on public transport. Every single inch of the Mirus shall be covered 🙂

My first impressions… lovely lovely lovely pushchair. The Mirus can be used forward & rear facing by simply moving the push bar. Seth is at an age now that he likes to be super nosey… so we’re using the pushchair forward facing. A massive thumbs up from me has to be the anti scuff brake! I hate the fact that all of my shoes get scuffed on the toe from flicking the brake up. But the Mirus has a lovely brake with no need for ruining your fave shoes. The seat fully reclines making it suitable rom birth. There’s an easy to use handle/lever on the back of the seat making it easy to recline if your little one nods off & you want to make them that little bit comfier. I also love that it’s a one hand fold. I am so cack handed & clumsy – it’s unreal… and even I can fold the Mirus with just one hand. It falls into a fold position really easily & automatically locks into position. When folded, it stands up right. Great for storage! It will easily fit into small boots too. We have a Hyundai i30 & it easily fits in our boot, however, we popped ours in the footwell of the back seat stood upright. The basket on the bottom is a great size… much bigger than the Silvercross Pop basket. All in all… this is very lightweight… yet substantial. If you’d like to see more… watch a video here.

So… where have we been with Mirus? Where I live we have lots of small, little narrow streets & cobbles. I live in a pretty little olde worlde village. Big chunky prams don’t really fit well. Mirus has taken those cobbled side streets with total ease! The full suspension on the wheels also stops Seth from bobbing about too much. We’ve also taken Mirus to restaurants… coffee shops & shops. I’ve managed to navigate tight aisles with ease. It’s crazy because you think the Mirus is quite big with it being comfy & sturdy… yet its actually smaller & more slimline than you think. I find it easier to handle in a shop than the Silvercoss Pop. The length on the push bar is perfect too. I sometimes find that the bars can be a little short & I end up feeling as though I’m holding really down. I’m 5ft 8′ & the height is perfect. The wheels are in a great position too – there’s no falling over the wheels. I hate it when the wheels are too close to your feet & you spend the whole time kicking & tripping over them. This is really comfy to push.

Seth clearly finds it super comfy as he literally falls asleep every time he’s in it. I bought a universal footmuff for it for £10 off Amazon to make it that little bit warmer for winter.

This pushchair is also fully compatible with Joie 0+ infant carriers… no adaptors needed. So in effect… this would be the only pushchair you’d actually need to buy. So, if you’re on a budget, you could save money on buying big expensive travel systems. The Joie Mirus retails for around £99 to £120. This is a serious bargain, for what you get. Or you can buy it alongside the Infant carrier as a pack for around £160.

Overall… I can’t fault this pushchair… so far it’s been utterly flawless. I can’t wait to take it on vacation with us. I shall be sure to take plenty of pics on different terrains to let you all know how it fairs.

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you’ve found this review useful.

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx
