I Sea Bacon

6 Jul

Hi folks

You may remember that a little while back I reviewed I Sea Pasta. I love to try new things & you also know I love to cook. I also love cooking healthy, low fat food. So it’s always right up my street to try new culinary things.

First off… let’s give you some key points to I Sea Bacon:

  • No saturated fats
  • Very little calories
  • Calcium, potassium & iodine
  • Good for vision & gut health
  • Helps the immune system

Something I didn’t know before trying the Seamore products is that Seaweed is considered the most sustainable food on the planet!!! It requires just sunshine. No fresh water, land, fertilizer nor pesticides. I mean… it makes sense… but I’d just never thought about it like that!

There are 3 key ways you can prepare I Sea Bacon…

It’s super easy to prepare. I sometimes find that with health foods & super foods – there can be a lengthy process in preparing them. But not with I Sea Bacon.
I decided to spruce up a spicy chicken salad with this product.

I decided to prepare the seaweed in all 3 ways mention above… I soaked the leaves for 30 seconds & added to my salad in with some iceberg lettuce. It turns from crunchy to being a lot more soft so it blends into your salad perfectly. I also stirred some into my wok with red onions, peppers, chicken & spices. Then, I used some the way it is in the pack, as a garnish on my rice.

So… how did it taste? Well… I don’t personally think it’s like bacon at all. But, it’s deffinitely got a smokey flavour that the I Sea Pasta does not have. I find it salty, but that means you don’t have to add salt. So my salad tasted more seasoned if that makes sense. The bits I added to the wok, I couldn’t really taste as the spices must’ve over powered it – however… there was a definite added texture. And let’s not forget the added health benefits. The garnish looked nice & was a little bit like a very thin jerky.

I Sea Bacon is super low in fat, high in calcium & has high levels of vitamin A & C. It’s also vegan & gluten free.

Just like I Sea Pasta, this product is very salty. I think that’s why I like to add a little spice to it, to try & dull down the salty-ness. I do think this product is a bit of an acquired taste, so it my not be for everyone.

Tea, Cake and Blogging at 5am

27 Jan

Hi folks ✨

Sorry for my lack of posts over the past few days… I’ve had a busy weekend & have been feeling pretty poorly after having my Whooping Cough Vaccination. I had Whooping Cough as a new born… So I know the importance of having my little one protected until he’s here to have his first lot of vaccinations 💙 I’m having trouble sleeping too due to pain… So here I am blogging ridiculously early.

So… What have I been doing…?

Thursday consisted of a lot of tea

I went for tea & lunch with Anna to my favourite little Cafè & Wine Bar – Otto. Obviously no wine nor sparkles were consumed. Although we did have like 3 pots of tea followed by lemonade! Since we had so much gossip to catch up on,  we stayed for lunch. They make the most amazing flat bread pizzas

Not the most ‘diet friendly’ of meals… But it was super yummy. Plus something hot was needed as Thursday was sooooo cold! I honestly thought it was gonna snow! However… It did not 😞

Thursday evening was spent with the Mammy & Daddy in Law who drove up from Liverpool to stay over night. It’s fair to say that they arrived with a LOT of gifts for Baby T 💙

Amongst the gifts was this beautiful Steif Teddy Bear from Hamleys. Normally I’d give him a name… But I think Bambino should be the one to name him when he’s here… & can talk lol 💙
Thursday evening I made a lovely healthy Chicken Jalfrezi for supper

Early Friday morning I was up & ready for my Whooping Cough Vaccination… Ouchie!!! To cheer me up, me & the hubster decided to treat the Mammy & Daddy in law to lunch at The Pastures… I seem to have been there quite a lot lately. The food is always so good though. When you find a nice place to eat you kinda don’t wanna venture to anywhere else.

I snaffled on fajitas

Once we got home after lunch, it was time for the hubster to pack his travel bag as he was off to London for the weekend with some freelance work. Everyone left together… So that left me & Coco to have a chilled few hours before my Mammy & Daddy arrived to babysit me for the weekend ❤️ I think everyone is scared to leave me alone now I’m pregnant… It’s kinda nice though 💙

More gifts were bestowed upon Baby T with the arrival of my Mammy & Daddy. The amount of time & love my Mam has poured into knitting him things is unreal. He has blankies… Sleeping bag… Cardigans… It’s all gorgeous! They’d also bought him toys… Toiletries… Loads! One item that stuck out as being super cute was his Beatles vest. Very apt with him having a Scouse Daddy 💙

Saturday was a chilled out shopping day. Obviously we needed to pop into Mothercare

Saturday afternoon was filled with tea, chocolate, gossip & films. Just what I needed. I miss my parents so much. I can’t wait till we’re living back in the Northeast 💕

Saturday night my Mammy & Daddy took me to my fave Indian restaurant for a treat meal as I’ve been so unwell really over the last few month – as you all know. They’re always so thoughtful & selfless. I was actually the worst hostess for the weekend with them as they had to make up their bed in the guest room… They did household chores for me… Brought me groceries lol… They’re utter stars ✨ love them to bits. If I can be half the parent to my little boy that they are to me – then I’ll be very happy 💙 simply the best is all I can say

By Sunday I was feeling pretty poorly with this vaccination… My arm had a massive lump which was so tender (still is a bit), I was throwing up & felt very headachey. So Sunday was a super lazy one. I think all I did Sunday was wash my hair. My Mam & Dad did everything else lol. They left in the afternoon so I only had an hour or so on my own (with Coco) before the hubster arrived home ❤️

My Mam had baked a cake for G as she didn’t get to see him all weekend… So he had this beauty to arrived home too.

Monday was a total write off really. I felt really under the weather… So I spent the day watching Netflix & feeling sorry for myself. But… My Younique Presenter Kit arrived so that cheered me up a bit!

In the afternoon I sorted through Baby T’s clothes… Cutting off tags etc… So everything is ready to wash over the coming weeks. That way everything will be freshly washed & lovely for his little arrival💙

Luckily I woke up Tuesday feeling not as grotty. Still headachey… But not quite as bad.

Yesterday marked 31wks 💙

Not long now until this little bambino of ours will be here for plenty of cuddles 💙

I decided to have a play around with all of my new Younique goodies. I decided I needed to be well acquainted with all of the stock so I can give the best advice to potential customers & for anyone wanting to join my team ✨

If anyone would like to purchase any Younique products or for info on joining my team, either comment on this post or message me via my Facebook Page ✨

Yesterday afternoon saw the arrival of a gorgeous prize I’d won from Not Shabby Very Chic

They sell some gorgeous items! Great for gifts & great for treats to yourself! They’re also now selling a monthly treat box 🎁!!! How fab does that sound? You can find them on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. So don’t just take my word for it… Go view their items for sale yourself ✨
I also received some tea from Twinings to try

After the excitement of receiving my goodies… I headed to my Midwife appointment 💙

Then finally… Yesterday evening I made enchiladas for tea. As the sickness seems to have come back… I’m craving spicy food more than ever

So… That is what I’ve been up too. Rather long winded wasn’t it!? Lol.

I’d got some fab reviews coming up for Cleaves Candles & Valentte. I’m also being sent out some items from Barry M to try. So please keep your gorgeous peepers peeled for those reviews!

Thanks again for reading ✨

Drama, Drama, Drama at Thorne Towers

14 Jan

Hi folks ✨

Well… Yesterday & today has been a day for drama & calamities! Urgh… I’m so accident prone!!! 😩

Yesterday I was making a gorgeous low fat pasta bake… It was all going fine while the bolognese was bubbling away in the Crock pot… I part boiled the wholemeal pasta with no dramas… then I mixed it all & spread it out into a lasagne dish topped with yummy homemade low fat cheese sauce… transferred it to the oven… all fine & accident free! Then… I burn my arm as I’m taking it out of the oven… OUCHIE! 😞 Honestly it hurt so bad 😦 It’s now blistered & is all bubbled up. However… the pasta bake was yummy.

This morning began with yet more drama as I’ve not slept… at all. But, I didn’t mind since the weather man on the TV this morning promised that today would be a day of snow in the UK… You can imagine my delight when it began snowing. ❄️ I was so excited when the tiny white flakes started to drift passed the window… then the banging began… the wind had knocked the back gates off of their latch & I noticed that the newly emptied recycled boxes were starting to blow around off the bottom of the drive. So… I headed outside in my Harry Potter PJs, leopard print dressing gown & Ugg Boots… with no make up on I may add! I headed out of the back door & down the drive where the gates proceeded to clash behind me. I successfully rescued the recycling boxes but couldn’t get back into my garden as the gates at clashed & swung the wrong way & had bent the latch so I could swing them the right way. So… there I was… Crying in the snow… prego… in my PJs & freezing my backside off! I don’t know how, but I managed to squidge through the teeniest of gaps. I scraped my bump though 😦 Then I needed to somehow secure the gates… so after 20 minutes of dramatic crying (and I do cry very dramatically) I managed to secure the gates but the latch is still broken, and, while sorting the gates… my iPhone 6 plus fell out of my pocket & onto the concrete, thus smashing the screen… ace! Honestly… I’m just so gutted!!!

So I’ve spent this afternoon watching Criminal Minds & feeling sorry for myself. I’ve aired on the side of caution after last nights burny arm incident & opted for a Crock Pot meal for tea. I decided to get creative & added  load of stuff to the Crock & I’ll hope for the best… It’s all healthy though:

  • Chicken Breasts
  • Tinned Chopped Tomatoes
  • Frozen Diced Onion
  • Frozen Oriental Vegetables
  • Frozen Sweetcorn
  • Piri Piri Seasoning
  • Garlic Granules

I’m hoping it’ll turn out nice… I couldn’t stand anymore drama today lol.

Yesterday I received a lovely gift package from Cleaves Candles. The wax melts are made completely of soy wax & natural botanical oils, they’re also environmentally friendly. The scents I received are:

  • Lavender
  • Angels Whisper
  • Baby Powder
  • Bedtime Bath

Once I’ve tried them all I’ll be writing a full review on each scent I’ve tried. But so far I can already say… I love them. They smell lovely even before they’ve been lit. The prices are so good too at £4 for a clamshell or £2 for a pack of 4 melts. They’d be gorgeous little favours for a wedding. It’s the first thing I thought of… Plus Wedding season is fast approaching. Check out their Facebook Page too for some Valentines themed gifts 💙

Coco also received her latest treat box from Top Collar . If you fancy ordering a box for your furbaby… simply click the embedded link & enter coupon Code: COCO to receive a totally free box! They’re gluten free & great for sensitive tummies. If Coco is impressed… then they must be good. Also… They come in a personalised box!!! They’re so cute 🐾

Righteo folks… I’m gonna leave this post here… But stay tuned for more reviews! 💕

Thanks again for reading ✨
