Getting Things Done

3 May

Hi folks

Wowzers… am I happy to see the beginning of May. Last month was just literally filled with so much stress. We’ve still so many box’s to unpack & flat pack to build. Well who am I trying to kid…? We all know I don’t build flat pack lol.

So… May! May is one of my most favourite month’s. Its seriously up there with December. Generally… the weather is quite good… Spring is in the air & there’s cherry blossoms blooming all over… and… it’s MY birthday month! Oh & the hubsters too lol. May is also shaping up to be a very busy month too! We’ve got two birthday’s coming up… a trip to London… a Wedding… & then a little vacation at the end of the month. As well as sorting the house out. To be honest though… we’ve pretty much sorted the main rooms. But we need to desperately sort out the office & the make up storage situation in our bedroom. We’ve also some shelves to get on the wall in Seth’s room to make him a beautiful big book wall as a little feature for him, just a bigger version of the one he had in his old little bedroom. He’s been having so much fun making a mess in his new big bedroom. He’s taken to the new house so well… it’s like he’s just not bothered. He’s gone from sleeping 10hrs through the night to almost 14hrs… loves his sleep that kid.

The kitchen is pretty much sorted, but I really want to convert the utility room into a pantry like we had at the old house. But that’s not priority really I suppose. The hubster is absolutely desperate to get out into our new garden to get that all tidied up. Nothing major, but the garden needs a little TLC… mainly just the grass being cut etc… & some wonky flags sorted. We’ve got some decking which is going to be our garden project… I’ve also told the hubster I want him to build me a garden bar out of wooden palettes lol… so watch this space for that!

I actually really want to do a tour of the house on Youtube. I need to back to Youtubing too. As well as needing to update my website. I seem to be developing a to do list the length of my arm! Or in fact… make that the length of both my arms out together!

In June, we’re getting a skip to basically declutter in the shed we’ve kind of inherited with the house. We made a discovery of lots of broken toys & a rundown rabbit hutch. So… skip it along with any of our stuff we can part ways with. I’m like the anti-hoarder. If it’s not been used in the last 12 month & it’ll sell? I sell it. If it’s junk? I skip it. I hate clutter. Plus… clutter makes it so much more time consuming when dusting & cleaning.

The front garden is little & cute & Auntie Nicky got stuck into that this weekend just gone. I have no idea when it comes to gardening… so I just thought we had an array of full big bush type thingy’s… apparently not. Some were killing other bushes & were badly overgrown! Who knew? So… she got stuck right in there & literally in a flick of a garden trowel – she’d totally spruced it all up. It looks like a new little front garden. Thanks Aunty Nicky!

I’m still ploughing on with my driving lessons. I think I’ve had 19 lessons now. For those of you who are familiar with Doncaster… I’ve done all three big roundabouts. York Road Roundabout & Hub Roundabout have been fairly easy to master as they’re big… but they’re broken down with plenty traffic lights. However… the Racecourse Roundabout is a little more scary. But… I’ve done it now quite a few times. So I guess now it’s just all about building confidence. Luckily for me – I have a fab instructor. I need to start swatting up for my theory test big time… I haven’t even booked that yet!

So… going back to the house. It’s amazing to have a fully equipped kitchen again. Before we moved I had things packed & I was trying to use up all of the food I had in stock & we’d also sold a few appliances. So to have a proper kitchen again is just fab. I’ve been in the kitchen making lots of lovely, healthy, home cooked food. We’ve had loads of beautiful, fresh deliveries from Bearefaced Groceries too. I always feel so much better when I’m eating better & drinking plenty water & green tea. Hey… I even managed to fit into one of my favourite size 12 sweatshirts last week too!!!

Life seems to be returning to some kind of normality thank God. Seriously… moving… it’s the pits! I’m never ever moving house ever again! Packing & unpacking… just yuck! This weekend shall be filled with fun… rather than house stuff. It’s mine & the hubsters birthday weekend so it’s all about fun & our little family. I guess what we’ll be doing will mostly depend upon the weather. I’m hoping ti’ll be nice so we can have a little picnic at The Yorkshire Wildlife Park. I’ve promised Seth that he can go visit the ‘real’ Lion Guard & the ‘big’ Sophies. For anyone who’s life isn’t consumed with Kids TV & Kids teething toys… that’s just Lions & Giraffes lol. I’m also hoping that at some point over the weekend I’ll be taken out for a meal too 🙂

I’ve got some reviews coming up on Skincare... Scented Wax MeltsEarly Learning Centre… & Music Bugs!

Well… I hope I’ve not bored you all far too much with my little catch up 🙂 Thanks as always for reading!

Festive Fun with Friends

20 Dec

Hi Folks ✨

Sunday once again… I do love a slow paced relaxing Sunday. I’m feeling thoroughly Christmassy… Not that I wasn’t already, but, since we had such a fun, festive Saturday – I’m now feeling feeling ‘super’ Christmassy!

I’m sat blogging from my dinning table & I can smell our fresh Christmas centre piece arrangement… it smells so nice. It’s really putting me a fantastical mood. We also bought some little snowmen on sticks from the florists yesterday to pop into our house plants in case they were feeling left out with not being all dressed for Christmas 🎄

Yesterday evening we had friends over for a catch up. We headed into the Village for a stunning Indian Meal. I really meant to take lots of pics of the yummy food, but we got chatting & laughing  & it completely slipped my mind. So I’m sorry I have no pics to share. After a gorgeous meal, we headed back to our home for more chatting. I drank sparkling water all night with one glass of cranberry juice… I actually felt really giddy & tipsy! I think I was having such a lovely time I got caught up in the Christmas spirit. See… who says you need alcohol to have a good time. Not drinking really doesn’t phase me at all. I didn’t drink at all during all of my surgeries, so this time round I just see it as a happier reason not to be drinking. Having said that… I do have some gorgeous Moet waiting in the pantry for me when our little Prince arrives. That shall be my little tipple of choice when I feel I want to celebrate his arrival 💙

This morning I sorted out our menu for the coming week… lol… it’s so not a healthy one! Tomorrow is our 4th Wedding Anniversary. Normally we either go away for the weekend to celebrate or we go for a lovely meal somewhere… but as the hubster doesn’t finish work until 23rd Dec for Christmas, then with Coco recovering from surgery & with me being up & down with sickness… we made the executive decision to celebrate at home for a change. So… It’s gonna be some kind of naughty take out for tea & for pudding we’ll be cutting our Christmas cake which was lovingly made by my Mammy. Wednesday evening shall be party table snacks as we’re having our neighbours over for a festive drinkie. Christmas Eve will be spent with our best friends for a meal at lunchtime followed party food in the evening & copious amounts of pink lemonade & Christmas films! Then Christmas Day will be a day of consuming homemade Christmas Dinner followed by lots of chocolate lol. Eeeeeck! I just can’t wait!!! ✨

Ooooo… Today I’ve started using my first item that The Journal Shop kindly sent me. I’m using my small Un Jour De Reve notebook from the Iconic range. It’s a gorgeous little book that is stitch bound down the spine. It’s a great price at £2.95.  I’m using mine to keep track of the items I’m sent for reviews. It’s the perfect size to fit in your handbag. It’s so light meaning it won’t be a chore to carry around. In fact, it’s so slim & lightweight that it’ll fit quite nicely in the inner zip pocket you tend to find in most hand bags. It’d be great for making your shopping lists in! I love the little cute rabbit design too. The paper itself is very good quality. I like writing in liquid gel ink & sometimes you find with a low quality paper that a black ink will come through the pages which I utterly hate! But there’s no chance of that happening in this little beauty! It also comes in 4 different designed covers… so you can choose the one that most suits you. Or… at £2.95… why not buy all 4!? I’ve also been using my Iconic Sticky Book too. Priced at only £4.95… This is another little bargain. It’s so slim & lightweight that it’ll fit inside the front pocket on my personal Filofax. So it’ll fit comfortably in any A5 organiser. There are 3 different sized sticky notes – great for little reminders or tabbing up pages making them easy to access during meetings when you need to find facts & figures fast. This book is also from the Iconic range & my book is the ‘Antique’ design cover… but there are 9 designs to choose from. This is another item I can thoroughly recommend. When you’re working between two sites like I do – everything needs to be ‘travel’ friendly… I hate having to lug around a heavy bag. So both these little stationary items are brilliant for on the move as they’ll tuck away neatly & won’t add any extra weight. I’m going to use my Un Jour De Reve medium notebook this week… I have some little ideas of what I’ll use it for… so stay tuned for a little breakdown & review of that. I LOVE this stationary!!! It’s just such good quality & well… It looks & feels fancy. I work in a University library… so I can be a bit snobby with how a book is put together & I have to say… I love a stitch bound book. Now… does that sound sad!? Lol.

After a lovely slow relaxing morning it was time to get a bubble bath. I’m making the most of my bubble baths right now as I’m sure it won’t be long until I’m finding it difficult to get in & out of the bath & will have to make do with just a shower. I decided to use some festive bubbles from Avon… But opened a new bottle of Molton Brown for my ‘wash bubbles’. I love this scent – Black Peppercorn… It’s my favourite Molton Brown fragrance 🛀🏻

There’s nothing nicer than a lovely soak in the tub ✨

This afternoon had been spent watching Star Wars

There’s nothing cosier than snuggling on the sofa on a wintry day watching films ❤️

Tomorrow marks our 4th Wedding Anniversary & I simply couldn’t be happier. We’ve been spoilt with gifts as usual. The hubster surprised me with the new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette – so there’ll be a full review of that coming up!!! My parents buy us Champagne & Truffles every year, so even though I can’t drink it right now – they didn’t want to break tradition.

So… What a gorgeous little Sunday today has been! I’m off now to watch another Star Wars film lol ✨

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday & thanks for reading 💕

Lifestyle Chic

18 Dec

Hi Folks

I know a lot of you are searching for that perfect diary right now… Something cute, functional & user friendly. Well, the gorgeous folks down at Paperchase HQ kindly sent me a lovely package to review… & guess what!? There was a lovely little 2016 organiser in the pack.

The organiser is the Ditsy Floral Organiser priced at £16. Now this organiser is totally reusable as you can buy new yearly inserts. So £16 is a mere bargain if you ask me. The little ‘Ditsy’ is seriously cute. It’s pink & chintzy… Very Cath Kidston really. Everyone loves a little retro chintz. It’s also very lightweight – so it’s perfect for on the move. One thing I truly hate is when you have a diary in your bag & all of the pages become torn or crumbled from it opening in you bag. I mean, if you’re anything like me then you’ll have everything but the kitchen sink in your bag with you at all times. so you’ve got your phone, purse, make up bag, umbrella etc… all smashing against your diary. Well, the Ditsy has a little fastening on it, so you’ve no worry of it opening up whilst you’re lugging all of your handbag essentials around with you.

In the front of the Ditsy there’s a great little ‘to do’ list for the day ahead. It’s great for jotting things down really quickly. There’s also a handy pocket in the front & at the back too. So they’re great for holding documents, receipts etc… And lets not forget the essential pen holder on the side! I really hate it when your pen becomes lost at the bottom of your bag. This way… you’ll always know where that pesky pen is! I love nothing more than a divider & a sticker. There’s a great little sheet of stickers to use in the diary section & you can even name some of the dividers. You’ll find some blank sheets at the back too to be able to make notes. All in all – this is a great little pocket organiser that won’t take up too room in your handbag & when you’re in that important meeting at work – all of your colleagues will be sat admiring your cute stationary.

The next item Paperchase sent me was the lovely little Raindrops Index Card Box complete with a set of cards & dividers. This little gem is only £8 to buy & at the moment it’s in a 3 for 2 special buy… You really cannot go not wrong with this desk accessory. It’d be great for any kind of filing. I’m using mine to keep my business contacts in all neat & tidy whilst being super accessible… But you could use it for literally anything… Recipes for example. It’s a great size that won’t take up too much room on your desk, shelf, drawer etc… I have to share our home office with my hubster… but I’m sure he won’t mind if I sneak this little cutie on to the desk 🙂

We all know Paperchase delivers fab looking stationary… but it’s also good quality but don’t just take my word for it… Click the links in this post & purchase some for yourselves. Or pop in store to buy someone a fancy little stocking filler.

Thanks for reading folks & I hope you found the reviews useful! Stay tuned for a review coming up about The Journal Shop.
