Making Memories

20 May

Hi folks,

I love the month of May. Spring is everywhere & everything looks so beautiful… the weather is on the turn to sunnier times & it’s also mine & the hubsters Birthday month.

We always try to do something nice for our birthdays as they’re only 4 days apart. But when you have little ones in tow… plans have to change & adapt. This year we had the most amazing little break in the Yorkshire Dales in a stunning Georgian Cottage.

So… first of all… let me tell you about this simply beautiful cottage. Green Cottage is an elegant Georgian Cottage set on the green of one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque villages. It’s an ideal base to explore the Dales in any season. And… it’s 100% Family-friendly… that includes doggies too. A dog bed & bowl can be provided if needed. Our Coco is such a little diva though & likes her own little comforts – so we took her fave bed & mini food & water bowl… most dog bowls are big enough for her to bathe in lol.

The space itself:

The house is fully detached and set over three floors. Don’t worry thoughif you have little ones, then baby gates can be provided. Seth is 3 & Ted is 6 month so we very much need baby gates on the stairsso this was fab for us. They were already installed too!

Lower Ground Floor

  • Kitchen diner (featuring an extendable table to seat up to 6 guests and fully equipped with Rangemaster cooker, dishwasher, fridge with freezer shelf and microwave along with plenty of good quality cooking and baking equipment, glasses, crockery etc). Honestly…the kitchen has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Even down to the colourful plastic kids crockery from IKEA that we all know & love & can’t live without! We ate in both nights… did ‘snacky food & we had sparkles… obvs

  • Utility room (with washer-dryer, iron and ironing board and a drying space for muddy boots and outdoor gear)There’s great tray there to stand your dirty shoes in there’s a radiator right underneath the coat rail too – so if you’ve gotten a little damp – everything will dry off.

  • Bathroom (with spa whirlpool bath, and toasty underfloor heating). The bath is utterly divine! I had visions of having an uninterrupted bubble bath with a glass of sparkles… but of course that lasted all of 5 minutes until Seth came bounding in lol. But that’s Mama Life for you!

Ground Floor

  • Living room (sofas to comfortably seat 5, log burner, digital Smart TV with Freeview, BBC iPlayer etc as well as lots of books, maps and games) we took our amazon fire stick with us & connected it to the WiFi. So we were able to watch Disney Life, Netflix & Prime. Please note that the play pen in the living room is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • Snug / third bedroom (large day bed which can be made up into full size single bed, second TV, desk)

  • Shower room (walk in monsoon shower with extra large enclosure, heated towel rail) There is also a toilet. It’s fab as there is literally a toilet on each floor. Essential for toilet training! Seth is totally dry now, but we’re still only in our first month of toilet training… so a toilet on hand is utterly essential lol.

First floor

  • Master bedroom (king size bed with deep, comfortable mattress, large wardrobe and antique dressing table) oodles of spaceLoads of room for a travel cot. A travel cot can be provided too if you don’t want to take one.

  • Twin bedroom (two full size single beds with pocket sprung mattresses, chest of drawers and clothes rail) a waterproof mattress cover can be provided too! Perfect! Please note that the bed guard rail is ours & not part of the cottage.

  • WC with basin (‘Jack and Jill’ style access from both upstairs bedrooms, ideal for families, or can be set up as en-suite for either bedroom)

  • Enclosed garden to rear and side, paved and gravel with outside seating, and a charcoal BBQ
  • Bike store (lockable for up to 5 bikes, can also be used as a pram store)
  • Direct access to the village green – a large expanse of grass free for all to stroll, sit or play
  • Play area visible from back gate – swings, slide, football posts etc. We spent quite a lot of time in the little play area. Seth loves a park. There’s also plenty wide open space to run around or to picnic. But, if you take your fur babies… please ensure you scoop that poop! There’s nothing worse than dog poop making the place dirty!

As you can see from above & from my photos… everything is catered for.

The bedding was so comfy!!! Egyptian cotton bed linen on all beds, 13.5 tog thick duvets (hypoallergenic and feather / down) and plenty of soft and fluffy Egyptian cotton towels. As you can see… Ted had to try out the king size bed lol.

There’s a welcome pack with all the basics for your first couple of days (loo rolls, hand soap, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, tea towels and kitchen cleaning supplies) as well as tea, coffee, milk, bread and a few local treats. This was soooo nice!!! It just means that you don’t have to pack a lot of shopping. And it also means that it’s all ready for you to get the kettle straight on when you arrive… coz let’s face it… we all need that first brew when we arrive somewhere! Especially when you’ve had to sing Baby Shark & Old McDonald Farm all the way there lol.

Also… when we arrived there was a lovely big box of toys left out for Seth to explore, as well as plenty children’s books. There were even a few laid out on his bed for him. That was such a lovely touch & Seth was super excited!

So as well as a travel cot, baby gates & toys… the owners can provide a highchair – which Ted thought was VERY comfy & there is also a baby monitor. Oh & I did mention the plastic IKEA crockery, but there’s also a MAM Baby Cup too. Just so many little things that have been added to make your break so much easier! This cottage is really like a home from home.

For our furbabies, there is a lovely fluffy blanket provided & the use of a hose pipe outside to wash down those dirty paws.

Okay… so you’ve heard all about the gorgeous cottage… but what did we do while we were there? We investigated Settle. What a stunning little town. Seth particularly enjoyed The House That Jack Built. He got some lovely new Melissa & Doug toys. There are so many gorgeous shops, tea rooms & places to eat, to investigate. There’s also the Watershed Mill. It is absolutely stunning… the scenery is simply breathtaking. We popped there for a little bite to eat over lunch time.

We spent a lot of time playing on the green outside of the cottage & in the little park. We were only there for 2 nights… next time we’ll be booking for a week.

The cottage has a lovely organised folder of leaflets & places to visit etc… so helpful for when you’re planning days out.

This beautiful cottage is simply worth every penny. If you book before August & quote: “IxxyPoco” you will be given an exclusive discount. You can book a year in advance. So use that code before it runs out. Simply head to Green Cottage on AirBnB & send a message to the owners quoting my blog.

Thanks as always for reading & I hope you’ve been inspired to book yourself a lovely break away ❤️

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx

Candles And Giveaways

3 Sep

Hi folks,

Over the last week I have been filling my home with some lovely fragrances from the Classic Candle Company.

Whilst I was opening the box they arrived in, I could smell them. The scents are stunning… & that’s even before anything has been lit!

So… What did I receive?

  • 6 Mini Lights in fragrances: Berry Burst, Rose Petals, London, Relax, Classic Cotten & Colourful. Each will last 10-12hrs
  • Reed Diffuser in Orange & Anise. Lasts up to 12wks
  • Medium Jar in Belgian Waffle. Burns for 50-70hrs
  • Wax Melt Bar in Tiare Flower. Lasts for 48-60hrs

First of all… the one thing that stands out to me is the clean, crisp look of the products. With the wax being white & having a transparent casing, it just gives it an elegant feel & look. Any of these products would blend into any home decor. With other fragranced candle brands they may be coloured, which is lovely, but sometimes it deters you from certain fragrances if it means it won’t match your colour scheme.

With this lovely, clean white look… I can’t help but think of Wedding centre pieces.

Imagine a beautifully dressed room with these stunning candles all lit in the centre of the tables. It would look so elegant & it’d smell divine. Or, if not a wedding – a Christmas table. I think I’ll be getting one of the festive fragrances for the centre of my table on Christmas Day. Simple but stunning. This Belgian Waffle fragrance is beautiful. But then I do love sweet, foodie kind of fragrances. I lit this in my dining room & I could smell it all over the house. I have a 4 bedroom home too, so the fragrance had plenty space to spread out & try to fill. I can also say that there was no black smoke… with some cheaper candles I have found you can get a little black smoke. This was a nice clean burn. Also, with this candle almost being like a pillar candle, it doesn’t take long for the wax to pool & spread, giving an even burn – no tunnelling at all.

The mini lights are perfect for a little burst of fragrance. In no time at all after lighting, you’ve got an even pool of wax across the top scenting your room.

I’ve been lighting these ones on an evening once my little boy has gone to bed. I think my favourites have been Classic Cotten & Berry Burst. They’re all lovely… But I do love a fruity fragrance & you can’t beat that clean laundry scent.

These beautiful little candles would make amazing Wedding favours. Or Baby Shower favours; Baby Powder would be the perfect fragrance. With Christmas just around the corner too, these little mini lights would make a gorgeous little gift for your christmas dinner guests, or if you’re making your own crackers – they’d make a lovely little surprise.

I do love a wax melt, I’ve been melting the Tiare Flower wax melt bar in our kitchen.

It’s great that you can split the bar into 6 cubes & burn 1 at a time. This fragrance has been great for banishing foodie cooking smells.

If you’re not a big fan of candles, then maybe the Reed Diffusers would be perfect for you.

This fragrance is so stunning. Admittedly, this wouldn’t be a fragrance that I would choose, but it’s so fresh smelling. I opened this & popped on the windowsill in our office. When my husband came in from work a few hours later, he said he could smell it as soon as he walked into the porch. Our office is at the other end of the house. I think he got excited thinking I’d been baking some fancy cakes lol.

With the orange scent in this, it’s almost got a festive feel to it. It really is lovely & strong enough to fill the whole of my home. With so many fragrances to choose from, you could find the perfect fragrance to suit any room. One of the fresh classic fragrances would be stunning in the bathroom.

If you head over to their website, you can view their full range of fragrances & styles. They’ve actually just launched a new 2 wick candle too! Now here’s the exciting part… you can WIN a 2 Wick Large Candle worth £24.50 in the fragrance of your choice, delivered to your door for FREE!!! Enter HERE. Competition will close Mon 24th September 2018. UK Only.

If you can’t wait until then to get your hands on some beautiful candles then use code: ixxypoco at checkout to get 20% off!!! But be quick, as this discount will only be valid for 7 days!

Thanks so much for reading & don’t forget to enter this fab competition!

Quarantine Nightmares

22 Aug

Hi folks,

Wowzers… what a looooong 2 weeks it’s been. Let’s start on a happy-ish note though…

So… 2 weeks ago me & the hubster had our first night away alone in 17 month. I had a major melt down the morning we had to leave… I was literally sobbing uncontrollably & had an awful anxiety attack. I’ve never hidden the fact that I suffer really badly with separation anxiety. Seth however doesn’t lol… but I guess that’s a good thing. It’s just really because I’m never not with Seth. I don’t even really have nights out or catch ups with friends on my own anymore. Something that my hubster has said I need to start doing. So… I’ve promised to start taking baby steps in that direction of having some ‘me’ time. Anxiety is an awful thing though… it makes you feel like you’re suffocating at that moment in time when it strikes. But… I’m getting there.

So… we went to Chester for a family wedding which was absolutely gorgeous AND… I managed to slim into my beautiful size 14 dress for the occasion!!!

The sparkles were flowing… the food was delicious… the venue was stunning & love was very much in the air. All in all it was a lovely weekend & I’m so glad that I went. It was a major achievement for me.

When we got home on Sunday I was literally just so excited to see Seth. But, Sunday evening I could just tell that he wasn’t right… my Mammy senses were tingling & telling me something wasn’t right. So… at 5am Monday morning it was a trip to A&E with a high temperature. It was confirmed he had a viral infection: Hand, Foot & Mouth. Then… Monday late morning… he got worse… so back we went for more medical advice. As well as the Hand, Foot & Mouth Seth had Impetigo. Both these things I’d only read about in parenting books. So he was given a weeks course of antibiotics & serum for his nose. Along with special creams for his baby Eczema that had become infected by the Impetigo. What an utter nightmare & completely heartbreaking. Also… the hubster was working away all that week in Berlin. Me & Seth literally spent the whole week watching Disney & snuggling. He was so poorly. It’s awful when you can’t wave a magic wand to make them better.

After a week of quarantine Seth was starting to get back to his usual cheeky mischievous little self… when he took a downturn again. So off I went to see my GP to be told he now had tonsillitis 😦 I mean come on… can we please get a break!? So it’s back onto antibiotics. I am happy to say he’s doing much better now & will be finished the antibiotics Friday.  Coco has been watching over him closely.

You’re never going to believe this though… even after bleaching the house from top to bottom to kill the germs… even after using boiling water & dettol to clean all of Seth’s toys… the hubster has only gone & gotten tonsillitis & Hand, Foot & Mouth too!!! I think I may instal a decontamination shower in our lobby as people enter & leave.

Looking on the bright side though… I guess it’s not like we’ve missed any good weather with being stuck indoors lol, because quite frankly the weather has been utterly appalling. I mean… have we even had a summer yet?

We have had a spot good news – my hubster has been made course leader at the private university he works at – so I am an incredibly proud little wifey 🙂

To be honest… I haven’t much more to add to my little catch up. Apart from that me & Seth are totally obsessed with Moana… it’s our new favourite Disney. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve watched it while he’s been poorly.

Hopefully I shall be catching up soon with a way more fun & exciting blog post!

I’ve some lovely reviews coming up about fantastic products from FrezyDerm UK, Crabtree & Evelyn, Nuby & Personal Planner.

Thanks so much as always for reading!

Hark the Herald Angels Sing

21 Dec

Hi Folks ✨

Today is mine & the hubsters 4th Wedding Anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been 4 year since I walked down the aisle to “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”. But then again in some ways it seems longer… Purely because of everything we’ve had to deal with since we got married.

During the last 4 years… I’ve undergone 6 surgeries & my hubster has been there by my side during every single one. He’s been amazing during my recovery. He’s also been there & supported me during my weightloss journey too. When he met me I was a UK size 10… when he married me I was a UK size 24… I got down to a UK size 12… & now I’m pregnant I’m a bump-a-licious size 14/16. So he’s literally loved me at every size. I have no doubt he’ll be there for me when I’m losing my baby weight. We’ve been though a lot… but it’s made us even more close. I’m just so excited to start our new chapter with our little boy 💙

Even at 26wks pregnant I’m lighter & thinner than I was on my hen party!

I never in a million years thought we’d be in the position to be getting ready to have our little boy. With the size I had become then with my last 3 operations… I just thought it was going to be an impossible dream to achieve. I just feel so lucky 🍀

The hubster had to work today… so I had a quiet day at home with Coco. She was super excited when a package arrived for her from Top CollarTop Collar are a fantastic company who bake fresh, healthy dog treats. Coco will be passing on her thoughts to me so I can write a full review of their yummy treats. But on first impressions… Coco seemed well impressed… & she’s one hard pooch to please!

One mini victory achieved today… I ate cereal! Since becoming pregnant I’ve really not fancied cereal at all… but this morning I had some Alpen granola & really enjoyed it. I’m glad as you can’t beat cereal for a simple hassle free breakfast.

I also tried my new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani make up palette this morning too. I absolutely love it!!! I used Pop & Blackout as my chosen shades. I have Naked 1,2 & 3 along with Naked Smoky… I have to say that this one is by far my favourite. Priced at £40 it’s such a good buy… 15 shades for this price. There’s no fall out from the shadows & the longevity of the shadow is fantastic. I can’t believe the hubster surprised me with this gift.

More work has been done tonight on my up & coming website! It’s starting to look really good… I’m so happy with it. You’ll be able to find it at: www.hayleythorne.co.uk once it goes live. For now that link will just direct you straight back to this blog. Eeeeeck it’s a bit exciting. For now, if anyone would like to contact me about reviews you can contact me via: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or email me at: IxxyPoco@gmail.com The website will feature all of my social channels & I’ll be hosting reviews on their too… along with this blog. So everything will be in one place altogether making it a lot more neat & tidy.

So… for our first Wedding Anniversary spent at home we’ve opted for a snuggly date night with Dominoes Pizza & I’m on the pink lemonade since I can’t drink proper sparkles. Normally we’d be going away for a night or two to celebrate… But decided that this year we’d stay at home with me being up & down with pregnancy related sickness & now also with Coco recovering from her operation.

Coco was sent a gorgeous little gift off Rachel who works with my hubster… a gorgeous little peach knit scarf. I had to open it as Coco started to nibble through the paper… she blatantly knew it was for her. She looks so gorgeous in it all wrapped up. Thank you so much Rachel!!!

Well… I’m gonna leave this post right there.

Thanks again for reading!

Oooooo… That Friday feeling ✨

24 Jul

Hi Everyone,

Well it’s been quite a busy week. I’m so glad that it’s Friday & that the weekend has finally landed. I really need to get back to blogging daily, as when I leave it for a few days I have to do an epic recap of my week lol.

Well this week marked the start of the new restructure at work. It actually wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. In fact… Dare I say that I actually quite liked it!? It was good to see the LTS department whom we are now sharing an office space with. It was also good to see the technicians from our IT department – who we are also sharing an office space with. I’m a socialable person, so it’s nice working with a big team. This coming week though, I shall be back at my beloved University Site ❤️ It’s always going to be my favourite place to work as it holds such good memories for me & the team I’ve worked with there for so long have made the place feel so safe & like home. The HM family vibe is still gonna carry on ✨ I don’t care what anyone says… They’re not my work colleagues – they’re my friends. Just like one big family we all stick together & support each other.

So… Here’s a rundown of my make up, breakfast, lunch & dinner choices over this week lol:

Today I’m having a well earned day off… So I get to enjoy a little extended weekend. I so needed a break since it was such a hectic weekend last week. All I’ve done today is snuggle with the Chihuahua. Oh & wash & straighten my hair which in itself is an epic task! My hair is so long, thick & curly! Oh & then… At lunch time Joe & Matt from work popped in for lunch & brought me a warm pork sandwich from the Deli in the Village – how nice is that!?  And for those of you who haven’t been to The Pantry in Sprotbrough Village – you are truly missing out! They stock some amazing Ales, Coffee, Cheeses, Bread… Etc… It’s just lovely. I’m so lucky to have it as my corner shop.

Matt & Joe are good lads… Even if they do mock my taste in handbags & insist that kit kats aren’t biscuits lol.

Later on this evening Rachey Roo & Michael are popping over for a catch up, giggles & drinkies ❤️ Me & Rachel always have such a giggle.

Tomorrow apparently it’s not gotta rain… So… It’s gonna be BBQ day! We’ve been promising Matt a BBQ in Thorne Gardens (yep… That’s my garden lol) for ages. So tomorrow is it. We have burgers… Kebabs… & like a million sausages in all different flavours. I’m also gonna make Matt drink his dandelion & burdock out of one of our girlie pink cocktail jars lol. They totally make drinks taste better!

I’m guessing we’ll also need the Chiminea on too… We wouldn’t want to get chilly would we?

I’ve been really trying to eat well this week after the Wedding last weekend. I actually do feel so much better for it too. I’ve been drinking a lot of water too. It sometimes feel good to have a little detox. I’m gonna keep it up now I think… I’ve had far too many treats & indulgences lately. It’s time to knuckle down to a healthier me… Again. Plus… I have my vacation coming up in Novemener… Then a Wedding in December… Then another vacation in January… Then a Hen Party in July & then… I’m bridemaid again in August 2016! I’m so super excited ✨

Well, that’s all for now folks ✨💕

I hope you’re all having a fabulous Friday & as always… Thanks for reading ❤️

Blogging… Treehouses… Babies… Weddings ✨

19 Jul

Hi Folks ❤️

I’ve been so super busy that time has literally gotten away from me.

I went to see a medium… We had a leaving party at work… My little cousin had a baby… We’ve BBQ’d…. We’ve been to a Wedding… Etc… Etc…

Where do I start!? Well… I’ll start with Wednesday afternoon… On Wednesday afternoon I went to see a Medium. She was utterly fantastic. She literally knew things that she could not have known. I was also able to make contact with family members who have passed over. It was so emotional but gave me the lift I really needed lately.

When I got home from seeing the medium, I cracked on with making party food for Anna’s last day at work. At the moment my department is going through a restructure (which I’m sure I’ve told you about). So quite a few people have been made redundant or have taken voluntary severance. I’m so sad to be seeing Anna go.

I made Egg Mayo Sandwiches & Chocolate Rice Krispie Cakes dusted with edible Golden glitter
I also froze Lemons, Limes & Oranges. They’re great for adding to drinkies… It’ll chill your drink & give it a little zest. Lay them on a baking tray to freeze… Once frozen you can transfer to a freezer bag

Later that evening My Little Box arrived & this months has been amazing. It’s all focussed around vacations. The travel wallet is just so cute
The weather was so beautiful on Wednsday… We decided on having a BBQ for tea. We had chicken on the BBQ & then I baked some potatoes & made a side salad. It was so utterly delicious.

Thursday started the same as usual… Shower… Brew… Make Up

I also opened a new bottle of Vera Wang Princess… I love this perfume. It’s so sweet smelling & seems to last for ages. It’s definitely still one of my favourite fragrances
Before heading out to work I threw together a chilli in the slow cooker

Thursday was leaving party day in the office… So everyone brought in party food. I also took some plastic flutes to drink our pink lemonade & 7up free out of ✨

We had so much food… I felt like we just ate all day. I’m so upset at our little family being disbanded at work. I’m such a positive person… But it’s gonna be hard not see everyone everyday at work. Especially now that we’ll be working over two sites. I have such bad memories of the other site as I worked there for around 5yrs. Someone there made my life a literal hell with constant nasty remarks & personal put downs… But this time I won’t let that happen & I shall stick up for myself. Bullies only win if you let them.

The chilli was smelling delicious in the slow cooker by the time I got home. We had it with sweet potato chips rather than rice

Yep you’ve guessed it… Friday started with Tea & Make Up

Breakfast was Cooked Lean Ham, Scrambled Egg & Fatfree Cottage Cheese

During my lunch break at work I had some leftover homemade chicken curry & caught up with the fashion business world via Drapers

Apparently New Look are going to be opening some stand alone menswear stores! So yah too be something to keep an eye out for. It’ll be good to get another store on the high street.
I also much fess up to a major diva tantrum. We were off to a Wedding on Saturday… So I decided to check out the cottage that we were staying in with friends. Well… I suddenly realised that the loos were situated outside across a courtyard & the showers were in a shower block… Also outside! Well I just proper kicked off. I mean… I don’t do rustic at all! I don’t do camping! I don’t do walking around outside to go pee! I had a total mini meltdown & just wanted cry. My hubster being the star that he is, booked us a hotel pronto bless him. I’m so glad that I checked the cottage before we got there. Well I say cottage… It was actually a hikers bunk house. What can I say… I’m a little high maintenance at times & love my creature comforts ✨

Friday evening the weather seemed to get out really nice… So yep you’ve guessed it… BBQ!

The weather was lovely… But a tad windy. We BBQ’d steak & I baked potatoes & made a side salad. It was delicious. After we’d eaten – this months GlossyBox arrived!!! This months was utterly amazing! I love the cute little make up bag!!! I also loved the French Theme

We headed up to bed around 11pm after watching Sweet Home Alabama… Oh I just love that soppy Chick Flick ❤️
We woke up pretty early on Saturday morning as we needed to make our way up the Northumberland coast to Alnwick for a Wedding ✨ We needed to pack & get Princess Coco Chanel packed & off to her Chihuahua-sitters. Oh I hate leaving her to go away. But she loves her sitter & is right at home in her house – so that’s really good. She’s been her sitter for like 2 & a half years now.

We needed good music to get ready too… So I found this album on Apple Music

We got the train up to Alnwick. It wasn’t a bad journey at all… It was around 2 hrs & there weren’t any changes needed. I think the Champagne & Brioche that I had in my bag made the journey that little sparklier ✨

We always have such a giggle on our adventures together ❤️

Once we got to Alnwick we checked into our hotel, dropped our bags off… Hung up my dress & headed on out for some lunch

We both had a handmade Aberdeen Angus Burger. Once lunch was snaffled… It was time to head back to our room to get ready for the Wedding.
The Wedding took place within Alnwick Gardens in the Treehouse. It was so magical. It was literally like being in the world of Harry Potter crossed with a Woodland Fairy Land.

By the end of the evening my shoes were starting to nip. But all was fine as the Bride had bought enough flip flops for everyone if their shoes became uncomfortable! What an utterly genius idea!!!
We got back to our hotel room around 12:30… So that wasn’t bad at all. Although… Since it was a free bar… I must confess to feeling quite rough!
We didn’t make it up for breakfast this morning… So we ate cookies on the train instead

Since getting home we’ve collected Coco & basically just lazed around in our Pjs. We’ve had a really quick tea of Waitrose quiche with homemade wedges & salad.

I don’t think it’ll be long until we’re heading on up to bed to watch a film.

So… I shall leave this post right there.

I hope you’ve all had an amazing weekend!

Thanks again for reading ✨

Love & Huggles,

Bundle of Joy 💙

13 Jul

Hi Everyone,

I’d like to say a sparkly hello to my bezzie Caroline who is currently sunning herself in Malta… A new reader popped up in Malta on my stats Map & I’m guessing it’s her ✨ So I hope you’re reading this whilst sipping sparkles Hun ✨

Well… It’s been a fantastical Monday. I got some gorgeous news that my little cousin had a beautiful baby boy today 💙 Kelly was my Chief Bridesmaid & she looked utterly stunning. Then even more stunning on her Wedding Day (yes… I was quite a bit bigger on my Wedding Day)

I’ve currently got my little candle burning to celebrate the arrival of Baby Staplin

So… Back to this morning… This morning started in the usual way… Cup of Yorkshire Tea & getting ready for work

I went for a classic smokey eye look.

A quick nail update: My nails are still very weak & very bendy… But… They’re now less sore which is really good. I’m continuing with rubbing in cuticle oil daily & using a good nail hardener. I’m also painting them with CND Vinylux Nail Varnish.

For breakfast I was quite boring & just had some Weetabix & Semi Skimmed Milk. I made a healthy lunch of Salmon, Egg & Fat Free Cottage Cheese salad.

Before heading out for work I through together some ingredients into my Slow Cooker to make a Chicken Madras for tonight’s tea

Don’t forget that all of my recipes are on my Diet Page: www.facebook.com/ixxypoco

Today at work actually went by pretty quick. I’ve been busy updating manuals etc… On my lunch break I caught up with the fashion world… I looked at some fashion forecasting via Collezioni Trends & then caught up with what’s going on in the industry via Drapers

I’m so addicted to fashion magazines & journals. I love to know what’s happening & what’s coming. I just love subscribing to my fave reads & having them delivered direct to my door. There’s nothing better than curling up in your fave comfies with an Earl Grey & reading up on what’s happening ✨
Ooooooo… & one other exciting thing happened today at work… On Friday Joe brought me an EBSCO bag that she got at a conference. Now… As a total library geek & academic journal geek – that’s pretty exciting lol. Then… Today Sue gave me a Sirsi Dynix note book full of post its!!! So for a library geek who loves a post it – that’s a pretty epic gift lol.

When I got home the curry was bubbling away nicely in the slow cooker. It smelt so delicious

It was utterly divine. Who says healthy food can’t be ridiculously delicious!? I have to confess though that tomorrow’s cuisine is gonna be quite calorific. As I said in yesterday’s post – we shall be snaffling French foodie bits in celebration of Bastille Day 🇫🇷 I’ve decided that I’m gonna start celebrating international ‘national’ days. I just love celebrating stuff… I love having fun positive things to look forward too. So it’s a sterling idea in my eyes! I do love an excuse for a party ✨

Right now I’m just curled up in my cuddler chair with Coco ❤️ I love cozy nights in. Especially since the weather is pretty poor outside. I really hope it’s nicer tomorrow evening so we can enjoy our French cuisine in the garden.

Oh well… I shall leave this post here & a big hello to my new readers in Romania ☺️

Thanks again for reading,

Renewing our Wedding Vows

12 Jul

Hi Everyone,
I’m sorry that it’s been a wee while since I last checked in. We’ve been super busy this week & have had my parents to stay with us for the weekend ❤️ it’s always so lush having them to stay ✨
So… What have I been up too since I last blogged… Well…
I made Diet Coke Chicken last week. It was utterly phenomenal if I do say so myself. I have a diet page for any of you that don’t know. I post all of my recipes on there. So give the page a like to be sent daily notifications.

This week I bought a new BluRay – The Riot Club. I purchased this after I realised it was currently doing the rounds on Sky Movies! Oh well… At least I have it for keeps now. It was such a good film. Funny in parts & then really dark in others. Definitely worth a watch.  There’s also a fair bit of eye candy in this film too 😍

So… This week I found my Dior earrings that I’d convinced myself that I’d lost! I was so super excited when I discovered them lurking at the bottom of a box in my dressing table drawers!

I’ve been wearing some bright lippy’s this week too… I adore this Revlon Colourburst one.

I’ve been trying to keep my lunches super healthy at work this week. I’ve been having quite a few egg salads. We’ve also been consuming a lot of coffee at work too.

I love coming home from work to our new house. We’ve only lived here since March 1st… But it feels like it’s been our home forever. I love it so much. I love our dinning room… I get so giddy setting the table for tea.

I collect vintage blue & white crockery… I love rummaging around second hand shops looking for new pieces to add to my collection.

My cousin had a baby shower last weekend back up in Durham & unfortunately I couldn’t make it. On Thursday I received a lovely little package in the post with some goodies from the get together. It was so nice ✨  I can’t wait to be able to light my candle 💙

On Thursday night our Ocado/Waitrose delivery arrived too. I just love their products. Everything is always so super fresh as it comes direct from the warehouse & not the shop floor like most grocery delivery companies. The customer service is always top notch ✨ I’d totally recommend them.

I love the Gruffalo branding for Yorskhire Tea right now.

I can’t wait to try this coffee. I’m going all French this week for the up & coming French National Day – Bastille Day. On Tuesday 14th I’m hoping we can dine Al fresco in the garden whilst sipping Champagne & snaffling French Cuisine 🇫🇷 Obviously I shall be posting pics on Tuesday’s blog post.

On Friday I woke up in such a good sparkly mood ✨

Friday was a weird kind of day really. It was really sad at work in our office… I think I’ve mentioned that at work we’re going through a re-structure in our department. Some of the people I’ve worked with for years have been made redundant & another is leaving next week. Then, our teams are being mixed, so I may not get to see some of my colleagues. So it’s fair to say we were a little upset on Friday as that was our last day before this new structure comes into effect. But… It’s made us more determined to stick together ✨  The below pic is of Me, Christine & Geraldine.

When I got home I found Coco sunning herself in the back garden

Whilst waiting for my Mammy & Daddy to arrive – we decided to have some red wine in the Sun whilst listening to some good music

I love our back garden… It’s really starting to come together now. We’ve got lots of pots & flowers, fairy lights & bunting. The front garden is still very much a work in progress

Once my Mammy & Daddy arrived we all sat out in the garden drinking wine & chatting. We even ended up having our chilli outside too. I made the chilli in my crock pot. My Mam came with loads of gifts as always. One of my faves was the candle holder for the garden – it’s a ceramic beehive & I just love it so much.

I decided to use some empty champagne bottles as outside candle holders… They looked so pretty once he wax had melted down a little.

Saturday began with a bacon sandwich

Then it was off to the Vets with Coco for her jabs. We also popped into Home Bargains for some firewood to burn in the Chiminea. The weather was pretty good through the day… So when we got back we had some Pimm’s & a scone with Morello Cherry Jam

Whilst me & my Mammy sipped our Pimms, my Daddy & hubster laid a carpet in our back porch & downstairs loo. It looks so much better than just a tiled floor. Our house was built in the 1920’s… So as you can imagine – the tiles had seen better days. They also tided up the door frame in our Pantry & my Daddy boxed in an unsightly water pipe too. He’s a good’un bless him.
Whilst sipping our Pimms me & my Mammy had a good natter about everything really. We talked about me & Graham renewing our vows so I can wear a beautiful wedding dress that isn’t a UK size 22 this time. I loved my Wedding dress so much, but finding the perfect dress when you are plus size can be hard work. Now I’ve managed to lose some of the weight, I’d love to be able to wear a smaller dress & more figure hugging. We’ve been through a lot together in our first 3 years or marriage. I’ve had 6 surgeries in that time & Graham has been so supportive during my recovery. Renewing our vows just seems like the perfect thing to do.

So after all of that hardwork – it was time for a BBQ.

Obviously we needed sparkles too ✨ I love being able to sit out in the garden, it’s likes going out but being able to wear your comfiest of clothing.

Unfortunately it started to rain halfway through our BBQ… So we had to scoot inside

Today has been a lovely day. We got up relatively early & started to get ready to head out for some shopping. We popped along to B&M, The Range & Aldi. We’ve bought Coco a little paddling pool… I can’t wait to set it all up for her. She’s such a cutie pie
Before heading out though, Graham put a cute little decal on the wall on my side of the bed

We bought a few more Frenchie Foodie bits whilst in Aldi… Oooooo I’m looking forward to our little French evening on Tuesday 🇫🇷 Ooo la la.

Once home – my Mammy & Daddy packed up & set off for their home. I wish they lived closer ❤️

Lunch today was a 7Up Free & a Chicken Salad Sandwich in the garden

We’ve sat in the garden for a fair few hours this afternoon. I roasted a chicken this morning with the intention of making a full on roast dinner… But since it’s been so warm & sunny – we kind of didn’t fancy it. So instead I decided to turn it into pulled chicken in a homemade BBQ sauce, served on a bed of leeks & cabbage with some tenderstem broccoli & a side of sweet potato & butternut squash

Now I am sat in my pjs snuggling Coco & watching Judge Judy.

I’ve got a pretty busy week ahead & then next weekend we’re travelling up to Alnwick for a wedding. The wedding itself is taking place in the treehouse within Alnwick Gardens. I’ll obviously be taking lots of pics! 👑

So… I hope you’ve all had a fantastical sparkly weekend.

Thanks again so much for reading & a big “hi” to all of my new followers & readers ✨

Sunshine… Giggles… Gossip… Drinkies… & Bridesmaids

5 Jul

Hi Everyone,

I didn’t get round to writing a post yesterday as I had a super busy day. The weather was utterly stunning again ☀️ It was super sunny & super hot… Perfect weather for meeting up with friends for a catch up & a little drinkie ✨

We had a really unsettled night on Friday… Coco was a little poorly with a stomach bug. So we were up every hour with her. So as you can imagine we were pretty tired on Saturday morning. Thankfully though, Coco is feeling much better ❤️

So… Saturday began rather lazily with a cup of tea in bed & some chilled music

I’ve signed up to a 3month free trial to Apple Music… Already I just know that I’ll be signing up after the trial. I’m so glad I didn’t subscribe to Spotify & held out for Apple. It’s really good. I think me & the hubster will sign up to the multiple user package for £14.99 per month. Not bad considering we tend to buy CDs each month at like £12.99 a go… A massive saving in my eyes.
So… After a cuppa… I got a long shower & washed my hair. It’s such a chore washing my hair as its so long & thick & mega naturally curly. It takes around 2 & a half hours to dry & straighten my hair fully. After my epic mission of straightening my hair I got on with the task of getting ready to go out & meet up with friends

I’d literally not seen Sharlene in months… So I was super excited to get into town to meet up with her, Vicky, Kelly & Joanne (who I’d never met before).
I got such a massive surprise when Sharlene asked me to be one of her bridesmaids 👑 She’s getting married next August & I simply cannot wait!!!  Ooooooo & we have a hen party to look forward too next July too!!! ✨

I love that Joanne thought I sounded just like Sarah Millichan lol. I guess I do really… I’d rather be likened to her than Cheryl Cole. I love it when people are surprised by me having a Geordie accent.

We had such a laugh & had a little wander round to a few different bars. I left around 9pm to every up with the hubster in our little village to collect some  Indian food to have at home. The food from Mehfil was utterly stunning as always.

This morning the hubster got up super early to head off to Edale to do a hike with my friend Matt. I on the other hand had myself another lazy morning

Once up, I had a sausage sandwich & popped a chicken in the oven to roast for dinner. I’ve promised the boys that I’ll make them a yummy Sunday dinner for after their hike. I’ve also been doing lots of boring jobs like cleaning & laundry… But I guess it has to be done… Even if it is boring.

Above is a pic of a coupon I have to get money off your first order from Ocado. I thoroughly recommend everyone to give Ocado a go. Fantastic food… Fantastic service! ✨

I do love a Sunday at home in comfy clothes

Well… I shall leave this post here.

I hope you’re all having a lovely Sunday & hi to my new readers in the Netherlands!!! ☺️✨

Thanks again for reading,

Royal Wedding

21 Nov

Well it’s been a wee while since my last blog post.

Our Save the Date magnets arrived this week. All very exciting seeing the date all printed up… it suddenly seems all real. The plan is to get them out in Christmas Cards. We thought it’d be a nice idea to send them with the Christmas cards seeing as it’ll be a Christmas Wedding 🙂 We put our Christmas Tree & decorations up last weekend. I couldn’t help but think how excited we’ll be this time next year… it will absolutely fly over. I just really can’t wait.

It seems that 2011 is the year for weddings. Prince William announced this week that he will be marrying Catherine Middleton next year. It’s nice they’ll be getting married the same year as us seeing as me & Wills were born the same year too! Can you imagine if they got married the same day as us… I mean afterall they say Royalty marry on a Wednesday & we’re getting married on a Wednesday! 🙂 Now I wonder if they have ordered their save the dates too? & will the Queen have hers displayed on her fridge??????? I can’t imagine Kate & Madge sitting around making wedding invitations… can you? I’m sure their wedding will be fantastically amazing but not a patch on ours of course!

Last night I got to spend some time with Princess Heather & Miss Peneleope (2 of my 7 bridesmaids) although Heather sat with the Groom to Be all night on the sofa which was temporarily turned into a laptop station! Heather seems to be very excited about being a bridesmaid… although it’s quite worrying that she refers to her dress as her ‘costume’! & I have to say hearing ‘Firework by Katy Perry’ every other minute wasn’t the best! I think I may have to break the news gently to her that, that won’t be one of the carol’s we sing in the church! It was nice getting giddy with Penny talking about wedding dresses & the mischief we will be getting up to on the 2 day hen party in York & the Festival Hen Party’s we will be having at V Festival & Download Festival! Yes that’s right guys & gals… me & Penny shall be moshing at Download with Pink Hen Party Tee Shirts on! I wonder if I can get a shout out by Charlie Simpson! Woooooooo FIGHTSTAR!

I get to spend the weekend with Miss O’Donnell next weekend too – another bridesmaid! It’s nice talking weddings & giddiness with Caroline over a bevvie… or 2, as I’m her Bridesmaid next year too! So exciting! Now I wonder if Caroline will want to come to Download too with her being a feisty rock chick!? We can practice in the Tut all weekend!

Then… the weekend after next we get to spend the weekend with 1 of the best men – Mark Kelly & another of the bridesmaids – the very beautiful Miss Jessica Tandy! Now I wonder if Miss T can choreograph a funky dance for me & my scouser for our first dance!? Hee hee 🙂 It’ll be nice to see them both with it being Jess’s birthday too. Birthdays, Weddings, Christmas… I swear I’m finding it very difficult to contain myself!

Well… I shall leave it their folks… I can feel my giddiness levels rising!
