The Power of Coffee

22 Jun

Hi folks

As I mentioned in my last blog post – I’m working super hard at being healthy. Eating right… drinking plenty of water & trying to fit in daily body magic. But… along with all of these things, I’ve been sampling some coffee. A coffee that improves your mood… improves your energy levels… increases your focus & can even aid with regulating your appetite! So… what is this magical elixir I hear you ask!? Lean Java Bean

Now… you all know that I don’t go in for faddy diets. I don’t like anything that involves meal replacement or dropping to a scarily low calorie diet. I’m all about everything in moderation & losing weight the old fashioned way. I don’t like the idea of weight loss medication either.

Whilst having a catch up with a good friend, she told me about a health drink. A health drink that was coffee! I mean normally we’re bombarded with literature claiming coffee is bad. Lean Java Bean has increased anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants seems to be some kind of buzz word we hear on health shows & in health magazines… but the top & bottom of it is that they’re fantastic for boosting your immune system, our mood, our memory, skin… etc… so many benefits.

Now… this all sounds great… but does it actually work. I was quite excited at the thought of a magical cup of coffee that’d give me a massive energy boost. I mean, as a Mammy to a 15 month old who juggles work, Mammy-ing & running a house, I can always do with a bit extra energy. You can imagine I was super excited to start my 3 day trial. You literally drink one each morning. Stick to a healthy diet & drink plenty water.

Honestly, I was not expecting to feel any different. But, after my first cup I seriously felt a little kick. I felt more awake & alert. I had more energy & I actually didn’t feel hungry between meals. And that was after day one!!!

The coffee itself tastes nice. I often find with a health drink, they can taste flavourless & quite frankly a little disgusting. So what a pleasure it is to drink a nice cup of coffee.

Now… let’s get to the weightloss aspect. I didn’t expect any weight loss with this coffee. And like I’ve already said I don’t do miracle weightloss aids. But… along with a healthy diet I lost 5lbs during my trial of this coffee. That’s right… 3 days… 3 cups of coffee… 5 whole lbs!!! I was speechless.

I’m sure some folk will say it’s a placebo effect etc… but as someone who has gone through a lengthy weightloss journey, this deffinitely feels to me like an extra little boost. Well, put it this way – I’m so convinced that it works that I’ve bought myself a whole box.

I’m actually so impressed. If you’re intrigued & would like more info, then head on over to the Nulife Facebook Page.

I can’t wait to see more results!

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you’ve found my review useful.

Getting Things Done

3 May

Hi folks

Wowzers… am I happy to see the beginning of May. Last month was just literally filled with so much stress. We’ve still so many box’s to unpack & flat pack to build. Well who am I trying to kid…? We all know I don’t build flat pack lol.

So… May! May is one of my most favourite month’s. Its seriously up there with December. Generally… the weather is quite good… Spring is in the air & there’s cherry blossoms blooming all over… and… it’s MY birthday month! Oh & the hubsters too lol. May is also shaping up to be a very busy month too! We’ve got two birthday’s coming up… a trip to London… a Wedding… & then a little vacation at the end of the month. As well as sorting the house out. To be honest though… we’ve pretty much sorted the main rooms. But we need to desperately sort out the office & the make up storage situation in our bedroom. We’ve also some shelves to get on the wall in Seth’s room to make him a beautiful big book wall as a little feature for him, just a bigger version of the one he had in his old little bedroom. He’s been having so much fun making a mess in his new big bedroom. He’s taken to the new house so well… it’s like he’s just not bothered. He’s gone from sleeping 10hrs through the night to almost 14hrs… loves his sleep that kid.

The kitchen is pretty much sorted, but I really want to convert the utility room into a pantry like we had at the old house. But that’s not priority really I suppose. The hubster is absolutely desperate to get out into our new garden to get that all tidied up. Nothing major, but the garden needs a little TLC… mainly just the grass being cut etc… & some wonky flags sorted. We’ve got some decking which is going to be our garden project… I’ve also told the hubster I want him to build me a garden bar out of wooden palettes lol… so watch this space for that!

I actually really want to do a tour of the house on Youtube. I need to back to Youtubing too. As well as needing to update my website. I seem to be developing a to do list the length of my arm! Or in fact… make that the length of both my arms out together!

In June, we’re getting a skip to basically declutter in the shed we’ve kind of inherited with the house. We made a discovery of lots of broken toys & a rundown rabbit hutch. So… skip it along with any of our stuff we can part ways with. I’m like the anti-hoarder. If it’s not been used in the last 12 month & it’ll sell? I sell it. If it’s junk? I skip it. I hate clutter. Plus… clutter makes it so much more time consuming when dusting & cleaning.

The front garden is little & cute & Auntie Nicky got stuck into that this weekend just gone. I have no idea when it comes to gardening… so I just thought we had an array of full big bush type thingy’s… apparently not. Some were killing other bushes & were badly overgrown! Who knew? So… she got stuck right in there & literally in a flick of a garden trowel – she’d totally spruced it all up. It looks like a new little front garden. Thanks Aunty Nicky!

I’m still ploughing on with my driving lessons. I think I’ve had 19 lessons now. For those of you who are familiar with Doncaster… I’ve done all three big roundabouts. York Road Roundabout & Hub Roundabout have been fairly easy to master as they’re big… but they’re broken down with plenty traffic lights. However… the Racecourse Roundabout is a little more scary. But… I’ve done it now quite a few times. So I guess now it’s just all about building confidence. Luckily for me – I have a fab instructor. I need to start swatting up for my theory test big time… I haven’t even booked that yet!

So… going back to the house. It’s amazing to have a fully equipped kitchen again. Before we moved I had things packed & I was trying to use up all of the food I had in stock & we’d also sold a few appliances. So to have a proper kitchen again is just fab. I’ve been in the kitchen making lots of lovely, healthy, home cooked food. We’ve had loads of beautiful, fresh deliveries from Bearefaced Groceries too. I always feel so much better when I’m eating better & drinking plenty water & green tea. Hey… I even managed to fit into one of my favourite size 12 sweatshirts last week too!!!

Life seems to be returning to some kind of normality thank God. Seriously… moving… it’s the pits! I’m never ever moving house ever again! Packing & unpacking… just yuck! This weekend shall be filled with fun… rather than house stuff. It’s mine & the hubsters birthday weekend so it’s all about fun & our little family. I guess what we’ll be doing will mostly depend upon the weather. I’m hoping ti’ll be nice so we can have a little picnic at The Yorkshire Wildlife Park. I’ve promised Seth that he can go visit the ‘real’ Lion Guard & the ‘big’ Sophies. For anyone who’s life isn’t consumed with Kids TV & Kids teething toys… that’s just Lions & Giraffes lol. I’m also hoping that at some point over the weekend I’ll be taken out for a meal too 🙂

I’ve got some reviews coming up on Skincare... Scented Wax MeltsEarly Learning Centre… & Music Bugs!

Well… I hope I’ve not bored you all far too much with my little catch up 🙂 Thanks as always for reading!

Love & Huggles,

Something Beautiful

2 May

Hi folks,

So… There’s always that perfect memory you want to preserve. That moment in time you want to hold on to & make it live forever. I still just cannot believe that Seth is now 13 month old… It’s just utterly crazy how quickly the time has flown. Every single baby grow, vest & outfit Seth has worn I have stored perfectly as it breaks my heart to let them all go.

Whilst packing everything up before we moved… I found my big stack & store boxes of tiny baby clothes… I couldn’t help but go through all of the garments & reminisce. But… really… what should I do with all of these clothes? I decided to sort into piles… some I donated to charity… some I have packed away for in case we’re lucky enough to have another bambino & another pile which consisted of my favourite things that Seth has worn… His coming home outfit after he was born… His first halloween Outfit… etc… Then it struck me… what can I do with these precious items? How can I make them into a gorgeous keepsake??? That’s when I met Tracey. Of course we went for a lovely little lunch to discuss crafts & ideas.

Tracey is a fantastically talented lady who makes the most gorgeous bespoke crafts. You can find her Facebook Page here. I handed over Seth’s outfits & she magically turned them into a handmade, totally unique Memory Quilt. It’s simply the most stunning keepsake. I’m so in love with it. It’s something I will keep forever & when Seth is older – I can show him. I can’t praise her talents enough. Tracey is always up for a challenge too. So, if you have a set idea in your mind of something you’d like to have made – she’s open to ideas. You can contact her via her Facebook Page.

The quality & finish of the quilt is so stunning – her rates are so competitive too. I was originally quoted over £150 to have a memory quilt made. Tracey only charges £50 for her quilts. I can’t believe her prices for something so lovingly made by hand.
Oh, & for all of you avid blog readers… you can read her blog here.

There’s always that birthday looming & you have no idea what to buy… why not have a memory cushion made? Or how about a quilt made of someones favourite t-shirts they’ve bought over the years at concerts!? Seriously… there are so many unique possibilities. Why not have a think about what you may want to buy for Christmas gifts… get your orders in early 🙂

I simply cannot recommend enough.

The memories in my quilt are just priceless.

So… what are you waiting for??? Have a little think of what you’d like to have made & get your order in 🙂

Thank you so much for reading!

Fabulous Weekends

8 Aug

Hi folks ✨

I hope you’ve all had an amazing weekend in this glorious sunshine we’ve been having.

We visited The Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Saturday – it was a fantastic day out. We’re really lucky that it’s literally 20mins drive from our house.

The Park is extremely family friendly. There’s absolutely loads of baby changing facuilities throughout the place. We took Seth in his Cosatto Woop pram & it was fine. There’s a mix of tarmac pathways, wooden chips, gravel & dirt, but they’re all very well maintained. So having a pram or a pushchair is no problem at all. There was only one enclosure we couldn’t go in with the pram. But there’s areas provided to leave your pram if you’d like.

There are loads of places to eat & buy drinks, but they seem to be a little pricey. So a cheaper alternative (and what we did) is to pack a lunch. There are literally oddles of picnic tables throughout, along with loads of wooden benches to sit on. There is a good mix of places to sit in the shade too. I’m totally neurotic when it comes to keeping Seth in the shade as much as possible… You just cannot be too careful.

Overall… Yorkshire Wildlife Park is an amazing day out for all ages. Also, if you book in advance online – you get £1 off each ticket purchased as well as not having to queue to get in ✨ We’re so going to be buying annual passes.

On Sunday we had a little outing to Cusworth Hall. I love Cusworth so much. It’s only 2mins from my house. It’s utterly stunning. Within the grounds there are lovely little lakes & walks with plenty hungry ducks to feed. There’s also always an ice cream van close by ☺️ it’s a great place to visit for a family picnic. But I have to say it is rather hilly… Pushing Seth’s Pram up that ridiculous steep hill was truly a workout… I totally deserved that ice cream I snaffled at the top!

After being stuck indoors for 2 years having my right leg rebuilt… I vowed I’d never be shut indoors again… That I’d be out & about enjoying life & our lovely surroundings ☀️

This com my week should hopefully be a fun sparkly one… I’m bridesmaid on Friday!!! ✨ then at the weekend we shall be visiting Bridlington. So I’ll have plenty to blog about for you 💕

Well I’d best dash as I have lots to do today… As always! Lol.

Thanks for reading ✨

Weaning, Decluttering and Wildlife

3 Aug

Hi folks ✨

I really need to get my blogger head back on & get blogging more regularly again. I just seem to be mega busy lately… But it’s all good… Lots of exciting things in the pipeline!

So… My hubster has a new job!!! I’m so incredibly proud & excited for him! He works so hard & really deserves this ✨ That’s the first bit of good news for the Summer. The next lot shall follow shortly… Hopefully!

As I mentioned in a previous post – I’ve started to wean Seth. He’s now 20wks old… Can you believe that!? 20wks into my pregnancy & I felt like I’d been pregnant a year! 20wks since he was born & it’s literally flown by. He’s loving his food. I’ve started him with puréed vegetables. The only things he’s tried that he didn’t like was banana & then cauliflower. Although, on Monday I made up a batch of sweet potato & cauliflower… Sneaky! He seems to be loving all the new flavours. He’s also really not struggled with eating from a spoon at all. In fact, when I put him in his high chair he gets so excited. Well… Apart from when he’s yawning like in the pic above lol.

Each morning he has a little porridge then each teatime he has some puréed veggies. To start with, I tried some Ella’s Kitchen veg pouches, just to gauge what he liked & so I could get an idea of what kind of consistency to make. If you’re not already signed up, then you need to sign up with Bounty & Cow & Gate. Both provide a r ally great FREE weaning pack. Full of advice, tips, recipes, coupons & freebies! My top tips for weaning:

  • Oilcloth Bib
  • Hand blender
  • Small freezer pots
  • Take your time

Seth has taken to food so well. I only hope when the consistency becomes more chunky he’s as accepting as he was with the purée. Has it helped with his sleeping? Well, Seth has been sleeping right through the night since he was 8wks old. He’ll sleep anything from 7 to 10hrs per night. So it’s hard to tell really. He has moved into his cot in his own room though. I was so gutted. But he’s outgrown his SnüzPod. I cried for the first 2 nights, but he’s taken to it so well. I’d say that has improved his sleep a little. In his SnüzPodhed shuffle around a bit if he heard me or Graham moving around. Whereas now he has no interruptions.

I’ve been on a huge declutter this week. I’m a very tidy organised person… But sometimes I can become a bit lazy & start shoving things in cupboards instead of tidying properly. I opened my handbag wardrobe the other day & was almost flattened by a ton of bags! (Slight exaggeration) So… I decided to be brutal… Any bag that hasn’t been used in the last 12 month is for the chop. So far, I’ve sold 5 bags. I have another on eBay, along with a purse too. What am I planning to do with the money!? Well of course I’ll be buying another handbag lol. I tend to buy designer handbags, then when I stop using them I sell them. Then buy a new one. To me it’s like recycling. Although I do have bags that I’ll never part with… Bags that will forever be a classic. So I’ve whittled my collection down to 7 hand bags, 4 clutch bags & 3 purses. I simply love a declutter! So, watch this space for my next hand bag purchase lol. I was thinking Mulberry, but then as a good friend pointed out – there are a lot around at the moment along with a huge amount of fakes. Which is true… So I’m thinking a nice Vivienne Westwood Tote or another Gucci. I’m such a handbag pervert lol.

As a family, we’ve been so busy lately. Every weekend seems to have been filled with engagements. This weekend though… We have a free weekend! We’ve decided to have a little family outing to The Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It’s one of those places that we’ve always wanted to visit, but never quite gotten around to. I’m so excited. I’ve even been planning what to pack in our picnic lol. I just love a list & an excuse to organise. I love an outing. I can’t wait to show Seth all of the cute furry animals 💙
That in a wee nutshell is what I’ve been up too. I know I say it all of the time – but I am going to make a massive effort with my blogging from now on to make it more regular again! I’ve also got a blog post in the pipeline all about York & the best places to drink sparkles ✨

Once again… Thanks so much for reading & for all of the lovely messages I receive 💙

Don’t forget to check my website out 💕

Merry Blog’Mas Folks!

26 Nov

Hi Folks,

Again I must apologise for my lack of posts… Every time… I say that I’m going to get back to my regular blogging routine… Then I fall off the blogging train…! But this time, I MEAN it! I really do promise.

Well… so much has happened since my last blog post. It’s been an up & down roller-coaster of being ill… going on holiday & getting myself back to work! After discussions with my Midwife, Consultant & Doctor – we’ve decided that I should go back on a very low dose of anti-sickness medication. The low dose seems to help, so that’s most definitely a good thing. It’s so awful when you’re literally sick 24/7. I have had my 20wk scan now & can tell you all that our little boy is doing great. He’s just so perfect already. It’s so nice coz my hubster can feel him kicking now too. He’s such an active little tinker. He seems to roll around & kick all day long. I’ve never felt anything so magical as this before. I truly am blessed.

We’ve been busying ourselves so much in the house… Getting things ready for our little bundle. Well… when I say ‘we’… I actually mean my hubster bless him. I’ve been so ill that he’s not allowed me to lift a finger. So, we’ve painted our front porch & staircase a beautiful marshmallow pink & we’ve painted the nursery a beautiful pale lemon. It’s all ready now for the new carpet & all the finishing touches. We’re hoping to have the lounge & stair carpet fitted before Christmas too! Yikes… It’s not far away! We’ve already got our decorations & Christmas tree up too hee hee. I’m so super excited for Christmas this year. Well, I’m the same every year really. Next year is going to be a whole new experience with having a little one to share the magic with. Oh… & don’t you just love my Liberty Bauble!? Hee hee I do!

Oh & along with the painting… We’ve been deep cleaning everywhere! I mean, I’m a bit of a clean freak anyways as I fixate over germs… but we’ve been taking extra time over things to make sure they’re bleached within an inch of their life lol. I may as well just wander around the house with a bottle of Dettol spray superglued to my hand. The hubster even gave the oven a thorough deep clean too! Ooooooo I do love a sparkling oven lol.

Our Christmassy Vacation was just so perfect in Sherwood Forest. It was literally 7 days of pure sparkles & magic. We didn’t actually do a lot with me being in so much pain with this ongoing infection I have. But we still had fun. Every night we had a log on the log fire… We ate out… We had little walks around the forest… We basically just had a much needed chill out. The way they do the Winter Wonderland is so utterly fantastical. I’d really recommend it to anyone & everyone. It’s completely dog & child friendly too. Coco had a super time! While I was there I developed a new love for colouring. Yes… I’ve jumped on to the adult colouring in band wagon. When I got home I even treated myself to some books from Liberty of London.

I feel like I’ve had so many treats lately… beauty boxes… a new Joules handbag… Hotel Chocolat treats… Oooops! Oh well, sometimes you just need it. I did finally decide upon which diaper bag to have & the Cath Kidston bag won! I’ve read so many good reviews on Mumsnet that I simply could not resist. Its really such a good buy & after it has served it’s purpose of being a diaper bag – it’d make a fab work bag or overnight bag. Nowhere does it say ‘diaper’ or ‘changing bag’. And… my diaper bag can’t be classed as a treat to ‘me’ as it’s totally a new Mammy essential item 🙂

Some other items I’ve been treating myself with are beauty products from Younique. I have the most amazing rep – Gemma. I can’t recommend her enough. She’s always on hand to offer advice on products if you have questions & she’s no pushy ‘sales lady’ either. The products I’ve used so far have been utterly amazing. I’m going to add the pics, as they speak louder than words. Also, here’s her direct link to buy products if my pics inspire you to do so: https://www.youniqueproducts.com/gemmadover I have a very pink/rosy complexion & the liquid foundation & compact foundation literally work wonders in seconds! The eye liner & lip liner lasts for literally hours & don’t get me started on the amazing 3D lash results! Below you will see a comparison pic of the mascara… I used 3D lash on one eye & Benefits They’re Real on the other… I’ll let you make your own mind up based on the pics below.

Ooooooooh I’d like to give a massive shout out to Catherine who won my Beauty Bundle Giveaway! She received her goodies today & I’m happy to say that she’s over the moon with all of her goodies! I’ve enjoyed this whole giveaway process so much, that I’m definitely going to be doing another one! So keep your beautiful sparkly peepers peeled for my next one! And if any of you lovely companies out there want to send more goodies for me to add to the bundles – please do so!

Now that I have my ‘sickness’ under control, I’m getting back to my healthy eating. I’ve only actually gained 5lbs so far & I’m 22+2 wks pregnant… So I’m thinking that’s fairly good. My midwife is happy with that. I’ve been having to remind myself of how far I’ve come on this weightloss journey with before & after comparison pics. Doing that always boosts my body confidence. It’s so hard seeing your body changing shape when you’ve worked so hard to lose weight. I remind myself all of the time though, that I lost the weight for the sole purpose of being able to conceive & to be a healthy Mammy. For that, I’m so proud of myself. I’ve lost count of the times I was told by various medical professionals I’d struggle to conceive if at all because of my size. So, if I can keep my gain to a minimum… then hopefully it won’t take long to lose the extra lbs after my little Prince arrives.

I’d like to do another shout out to every single one of you… THANK YOU so much for reading this blog. Here’s how many of you are reading & where you’re all from! I had no idea I was reaching so many countries. I got so giddy earlier when I read my stats properly to see which countries you’re all from. It’s so lovely to know that so many of you are reading & joining me on my little sparkly ride through life. While you’re all reading… I shall continue writing. That’s why I feel so bad for neglecting this blog while I’ve been unwell. But I’m gonna make that extra special sparkly effort to post regularly, coz you’re all visiting my blog & there’s been no new updates for you all.

Well, I’m gonna leave this post there as it’s most definitely time for some tea. So, once again – thank you for reading! Eeeeeck… It’s almost Christmas!!! And… It’s almost time for I’m a Celebrity Get me Ouuta Here! What can I say… I’m addicted to reality TV! Lol.

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx

Eye of the Storm

2 Jul

Evening people ✨

So… I’ve been seeing loads of posts on social media about these storms you’ve all been having… I think they must’ve passed us by. The only slight storm we had was yesterday whilst at work & the electrics tripped… It was literally a 20 minute storm & that was it. My Mam & Dad have no SKY TV, Phone Lines or Internet, their lines have literally been fried! What a nightmare! So I do hope that this blog post finds you all safe & sound.

Well as you’ve probably guessed… This morning started with a cuppa & make up ✨

I used a mix of Naked 1 & 3 for my eyes. Estée Lauder lippy in number 16 is fast becoming my Fave!!! ❤️
For breakfast I had some Ham from the joint I cooked yesterday, 2 hard boiled eggs & a splodge of fat free cottage cheese. It sounds really random I know… But it was healthy, filling & really yummy!

I had a really early finish today at work & left at 12:30 ☺️ The first thing I did when I got home was to get some yogurt brewing & of course I needed a cuppa

I’m currently making some Greek Honey Yogurt. It should be ready by the time I get up in the morning. I’m planing on making healthy deserts with it..

For lunch I had a truly massive salad! I had Egg, Cottage Cheese, Low Fat Coleslaw, Lettuce, Cucumber, Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Green Olives, Sweetcorn & 3 small slices of Salami cut into strips. I had a fat free balsamic dressing. Coco totally had her eye on it haha.

While I snaffled my lunch I watched an episode of Criminal Minds… Have I ever mentioned how much I love that show? It’s literally one of my faves. It’s up there with Game of Thrones.
After that… I headed out into the garden with the latest edition of Elle Decoration & a Dr Pepper Zero

The current issue is sooooo good! I spied a few things that I really do need!

The Patricia Urquiola Jellie Collection is just so gorgeous! I also really want a Hostess Trolley

I can just see me serving up Pimms to my guests on my Hostess Trolley of Dreams haha ✨

I’ve been snap chatting quite a bit today… So for anyone who’d like to see what I’m up too through my day… Give me an add

Just before we had tea… Our Ocado Delivery arrived

I simply love the colour coordinated bags! Plus, the food is always so fresh & in really good condition.

I’m loving the packaging on my 7Up cans & the Gruffalo design on Yorkshire Tea right now. I love fun designs & anything retro.

For tea tonight I used up what was left of the Gammon Joint from yesterday… I made a low fat Spaghetti Carbonara using Quark instead of Cream

It was utterly delicious & I love my vintage Willow Pattern bowls that I served it in. I love trawling charity shops for vintage treasures.

The weather has now gone from glorious sunshine… To an overcast cloudy rainy mess! I’m really hoping for good weather tomorrow as me & the hubster were hoping to BBQ for tea tomorrow night! I’ve taken out BBQ supplies from the freezer…

The congealed mass in the middle is Sweet Chilli Pork Sausages, just for anyone that was wondering lol ☺️

Well since I can’t go sit in the garden… I think I may pop upstairs… Take my make up off… Get my PJs on… And get into bed & watch a film ❤️

And… That was my Thursday. I hope you’ve all had an amazing one ✨ and… The weekend is almost upon us!!!

Thanks again so much for reading & a big hello to my new readers in Singapore!

Love & Huggles,

Hayley xxx
